Good morning gang.

Today is not a holiday I have to work.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Cool here to start with temps in the mid 20's and highs in the low to mid 30's.

Word of the day is afflated.

Today is NATIONAL POPCORN DAY

National Popcorn Day is celebrated annually January 19th.

According to Wikipedia, popcorn, also known as popping corn, is a type of corn (maize, Zea mays var. everta) that expands from the kernel and puffs up when heated. Popcorn is able to pop because, like amaranth grain, sorghum, quinoa, and millet, its kernels have a hard moisture-sealed hull and a dense starchy interior. When heated, pressure builds within the kernel, and a small explosion (or “pop”) is the end result. Some strains of corn are now cultivated specifically as popping corns.

There are various techniques for popping corn. Along with prepackaged popcorn, which is generally intended to be prepared in a microwave oven, there are small home appliances for popping corn. These methods require the use of minimally processed popping corn.

A larger-scale, commercial popcorn machine was invented by Charles Cretors in the late 19th century.

Unpopped popcorn is considered nonperishable and will last indefinitely if stored in ideal conditions.

Depending on how it is prepared and cooked, some consider popcorn to be a health food, while others caution against it for a variety of reasons. Popcorn can also have non-food applications, ranging from holiday decorations to packaging materials.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on the third Monday of every January. Martin Luther King Jr.(January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience. King has become a national icon in the history of American progressivism. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. federal holiday in 1986. Hundreds of streets in the U.S. have been renamed in his honor.

Monday, the first day of the week. The first day of the rest of your life. How will you spend it? MLK was a cool dude. In life he had been to the mountaintop for real. Now these other wanna be's are another story like Al and Jesse. I know I'm forgetting some but they're all real easy to forget.

Don't know what I'm gonna do today as of yet. I think some straightening up around the garage, sheds, laundry room and other places if I have enough hours in the day. Gonna take one of the cars for a ride, maybe the 91 Vert. It's time to replenish the Busch NA. Nothing pressing today.

Morning guys...I know what I'll be doing, school. We don't have the day off here for MLK. #2 GS has a ball game today, so I'll be at school until 7:30 or so. I think it's supposed to be moderate temps today, it already about 31.

SEMI-SUNNY AND 44 THIS MORNING, HIGH IN THE 60'S PREDICTED.

GOOD TO BE HOME; HOPE THAT'S THE LAST FUNERAL FOR A WHILE.
UNCLE ARTIE WAS SOMETHING OF A TOWN INSTITUTION, AND THE CHURCH WAS PACKED. I DON'T THINK THERE WAS AN EMPTY SPOT ANYWHERE. IT WAS QUITE A SENDOFF.

THINK I'LL DO SOME OF THE THINGS AROUND THE PLACE I'VE BEEN PUTTING OFF BECAUSE IT WAS TO COLD.

Afflated.....isn't that an Insurance company that has a duck involved.

Had my truck driver come over yesterday while I was working on the GS and told me he quit.......I'm like, really? He said he wasn't making enough money and I told him he was making what we talked about when he signed on....came out of left field since we had worked together Saturday....don't know what happened but those old over the road guys think its going to be so great when they are home every night and find out it isn't so much because the wife is there every night.....just saying......

Anyway onward and upward....I will find a new guy glad it is now and not in the season.....

Work today in office and then I get to drive a truck this afternoon......yay.....yay.....

Weather is like spring out so can't complain about that...have a day of love for your neighbor Guru's....unless you don't like your neighbor....or it would get you in trouble with your wife.....nevermind.....

MLK Day is here. Time for me to head to the Motor City for the big car show. Hopefully I will get some pictures to post later this evening. It is a 3 hour run each way and I am 45 minutes behind my targeted departure time. Damn you internet !

Greetings! Slept in real good again, too good. I'll have to find a project of some sort to putz around with today. After the coffee kicks in. Sorry to hear about your driver hanging it up, Marcus.

New chair for Tommy:

Meanwhile, the ELP vid reminded me of when we went to see them on their Works tour with a huge orchestra back in the 70's. It was outstanding - sadly the tour went broke.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Brad, might that be considered a handicapped access vehicle? A little basket front and rear would make it a great grocery getter. Something tells me the cops would pull you over and dispute your handicap though.

Same thing happens in every town that the financial landscape changes. I understand Muslims have taken a liking to Detroit. Buy up the churches and sell them as mosques. Look what happened with Harlem. Employment is a major problem with Detroit. A Caucasian can play the role of the minority. Back in the days of the gold rush, expansion of the railroad, and a host of other developments, new towns emerged and some off the beaten path towns died. One industry towns dried up with the closure of the factory, mill and the like. Sure it's sad. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again, and again, and again if need be. Happens to the little guy and big guy alike.

Seeing the decay of once-thriving neighborhoods is very sad. The Rehab Addict on HGTV is doing some homes in Detroit - she could clone herself 100 times over and still never be out of work.

Boys got beat again. Every team we play . the boys look like they are 2 or three years older than our boys. Hopefully our boys will grow up and mature a bit in the next year or two.
