I did sleep in some. Everyone else went to do the Freedom Run/Walk. They are just now trickling in. #1 and two grands came back in the car, Rosie and SIL are walking back I guess (only another couple miles at most). Parade coming up in a little. In the meantime, I'll load up that exercise machine, then I will load the washer/dryer up after the parade and we will head west.

I trust everyone will have a great 4th of July.

CLOUDY AND DRIPPY IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING. GOT A LITTLE OVER AN INCH OUT OF THE LATEST RAIN EVENT, VERY LITTLE RUNOFF. THE CHEROKEES ARE PLEASED, IT WAS GETTING TOO DRY.

SEEMS THE DEPARTED COON WAS JUST A STRAGGLER AND NOT A SCOUT, SO THE COON WARS REMAIN IN ABEYANCE. NOTHING ON THE AGENDA BUT FIREWORKS TONIGHT; CONVERTIBLES ARE GREAT FOR WATCHING FIREWORKS :-)

If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.

Good Morning CGs!

Happy 4th to everyone!

I'm sitting here in a half miserable state. Yesterday I ended up having some excruciating pain in my left ear along with hearing loss. Ended up at the walk in clinic and diagnosed with an ear infection. I haven't had an ear infection since I was a baby, so I didn't even know what it felt like. But it's not fun. Doctor prescribed me antibiotics and I'm on OTC meds for the pain. Not too pleasant. The antibiotics seem so be working a bit, the pain has subsided a bit since yesterday. Still have a ringing in my ear and the sound is muffled. Hope it gets better soon rather than later.

I don't expect to get much work done today, but maybe some shopping and family time.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Happy 4th of July, Gurus!

I did manage to sleep in today - no where near a record, but a noble attempt. We're going over to a friend's pool party this afternoon, should be a good time.

Ear mojo, Matt - hope you are feeling better soon.

Have a safe and festive 4th, all!

Meanwhile, my sister sent me this:

A BAGPIPER’S STORY

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family and no friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn't stop for directions.
I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to them for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played "Amazing Grace", the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen anything like that before, and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Apparently, I'm still lost....it's a man thing.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone. The neighbor is BBQing brisket, salmon and other goodies and invited me over to partake. I guess that I will do just that.

Remember we are blessed to live in this great country and we must fight and serve to keep it that way. Blessings and thanks to all who have served and to those who gave it all.

Happy Independence Day.

Matt, earache my eye. .......... Feel better. You must have something in your toolbox you can flush your ear out with. Been busy as usual. Have some family coming over at 04:00 PM. At 05:30 we head to Homestead Miami Speedway to the Champions Club for an air conditioned 4th of July dinner and entertainment accompanied by a number of local officials blowing their own horn. At 08:45 or so they'll kick off the fireworks for maybe 30 to 45 minutes. Then we'll take sonny boy back home and drop off another friend that lives about a half hour away and finally we'll get home and go to bed. That's the plan anyway. The track fireworks has almost become tradition for us. Easy to do and nobody has to plan or host.

ALMOST FORGOT THE COLORED BIRD SHOOT TODAY, BUT I MADE IT OUT TO THE SKEET RANGE IN TIME FOR A ROUND. I WAS SHOOTING WELL BUT GOT ALMOST ALL ONE POINT BIRDS, SO NO CIGAR. SEMI SUNNY AND WAS GETTING RATHER STEW-ISH OUT THERE IN THE HUMIDITY.

MATT, I HEAR WHISKY AND LEMON JUICE IS GOOD FOR EAR ACHES. JUST GO EASY ON THE LEMON JUICE ;-)

I used to drink whiskey till Jesus answered my prayers. At least I thought it was Jesus. Sometimes I remember crying out "Oh God" but that's another story ...........
