Know for a fact the roomie has been on my PC at least 2x in the last 2 days. Looked up history, must have erased where she went. How is she getting past the password and how to find what shes doing on it?

It doesnt turn on by itself and my chair doesnt adjust itself. She has a laptop so the fact mine is being used annoys me. Id like to have some hard proof before confronting her.

Change the password on the start-up firewall. She might of seen it when you logged in on start-up. Use letters, numbers and %*")^@.

You can bypass the laptop password by short circuting the battery. You could also get a harddrive password installed. Buy a gunsafe and lock it in there....problem solved!

I would say change the password, and after you power down take the plug and put it up.

If all you are looking for is proof it was on do a file search by date and time. If anything comes up when the computer should have been off there you go.

I have to admit, gang... you don't read the OP very well...

The laptop belongs to the roomie, not Ron. He has a desktop.

I agree, change the password... however, there are utilites that will bypass it.

I would put a password on the bios... just for the love of God DON'T LOSE THAT PASSWORD - EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! There area limited recovery options if that password is lost...

and yes, I half expected NC Kid to be the OP on this one...

Buy a new keyboard and keep it in a safe place. Put crazy glue on your old keyboard keys before you leave...

I'm just sayin'.

New idea...just print out a bunch of internet porn and leave it all around the keyboard and screen. Then take some elmer's glue and dribble it all around and a little on the keys. I don't think she'll ever want to come near the computer after that. No worries then.

Install one of those big brother type spy software that parents use on their kids.

Locking her out is no fun, you don't get any dirt on people that way.

You could make your screen saver 2 girls 1 cup.

Your safest bet is to store the most disgusting stuff you can find, so anyone searching it gets grossed out and leaves you alone.

In college if someone suspicious in our apartment left there computer open, we'd go through their internet history. Found all sorts of dirt on them, animal porn, chicks with dicks, fatties, a friend of mine found his roommates was gay from his myspace page on his history, which was funny until the background music started blaring and he couldn't figure out how to turn it off before the guy heard it.

Screensaver "Marquee", which comes with Windows, lets you set the message to whatever you want.

You can also have it ask for a password.

Try "keep off or I'll change the locks!" :D

I know it's already been established that Ron is not talking about his laptop. But this had me laughing.

It seems to me "short circuting the battery" [sic] would only bypass the battery rendering the laptop without power. I wonder if you need to use the red wire or the blue wire???

Simple problem easily solved.

Go to the Halloween store and buy one of those rubber tongues.

Mount it on your keyboard with a postnote saying;

The password checker has been replaced with the new "nipple scanner"
