1991 ZR1 Green/Saddle... MINT 28K Miles... 1 Owner, Clean Car Fax, 2 Tops....

Went to buy it,... could not get financed,... its too old

$19,900

BMW of the Hudson Valley
New York

Figured I'd let someone get a good deal,

Just don't give them a deposit... if your deal falls through you will never get it back,

Wow sounds like a pretty good price. Wifey wouldn't like me very much after that, but I wouldn't have to worry about it since I'd be divorced.

I am not so sure about that.

There is a total credit crisis going on.

As for the deposit, did they tell you up front it was non-refundable? Otherwise, they have to give it back.

The ZR1 is a nice car, but parts are expensive, and hard to come by...

And it's a 17 year old car with average performance by today's standards.

I'll sell you my '93 with more HP and better performance for $19K. I'll even finance you

Oh yea, in NY state they don't have any choice but to give it back, but they try and hold onto it as long as they can.

Actually, I am kind of relieved in a way, because its a really good deal that I didn't want to pass up, but its not what we are looking for right now. We just got out of our 89 to get something newer; believe me, if the age didn't matter we would still be driving the 89. This kind of took it out of my hands.

The ZR1 is truly and awesome car though I must say.

Actually, Ive driven The LT1, LT4, L98, LT5, LS1, LS6... all corvettes; the LT5 is really an awesome ride. It feels fast too, even if a C5 ZO6 would walk on it. I had a lot of fun driving it, and would have bought it if the deal had worked out. But no regrets. I am really missing the cool factor though lately, and my 96SS is just not cutting it right now...

How much for a windshield Jeff? Or even a thermostat? Plus all the parts are located in King Tut's tomb.

Hey check this out, a ZR-1 clutch master for $211.

http://www.whiteracingproducts.com/in ... cPath=200&products_id=867

Psst... don't tell anyone it's the same part used on base Corvettes and is available for $60 elsewhere.

Windshield, repops were available not anymore.

Regular C4 windshield - 250
Thermostat - 20 bucks NAPA

And the clutch master is the same for all Maual trans 89-96 cars. There are aftermarket pieces available. So no biggie. I also carry GM slaves for less.

Next?

Don't bet on it. One of the Corvette mags did a comparo between a new Z06 and a stock ZR1 (1994 or so)... the ZR1 actually was faster in the 1/4 mile than the Z06.

They are slower by today's standards, but not THAT slow!!!

Compared to a C5Z, it'd have a fighting chance, but against a C6Z, no chance in hell.

To be honest, it felt WAY faster than he C5 ZO6, but try telling any of the ZO6 guys that...

I liked it a lot, it absolutely made its way onto the "to own in the future" list.

P.S. Still waiting on my deposit back.....

Have you shopped around to different banks or credit unions? Here at one of the larger local credit unions, they will finance the vehicle regardless of year, just has to be under 100K miles.

How is that faster than a C5Z? I've seen C5Z's run 11.7. Yes, stock. But with drag radials. What's a tire worth in the 1/4, about 0.3 sec? So let's say low 12's on street tires.

And add some turns to the mix and there's no comparison. The C5Z is the current KING of road racing. The C6 (non-Z06) is just starting to penetrate the racing scene, with mixed results.

Yep - no comparison. Offer anyone a free one of either, no/low miles, there's no comparison.

LT5 everyone everytime uh huh!

The C5Z is a better car, either can make silly power but there isn't much you can do about the shitty frame the C4 is stuck with.
