Hey, with all of us hitting About 600HP I figured I'd post the official history of the About 600 club. I hope you guys are laughing with me, once you understand the origins.

On another forum, we were constantly hearing about 383s and such putting down 430RWHP. Then someone says something to the effect, I'm good for 430RWHP with a 427...OK, whatever.

Anyway, I kept getting IMs from a bunch of idiots asking how much power I think I'm going to make. I'd say "IDK, 550-600 something in that neighborhood"... on paper, looks that way. THEN these same brain trusts would come back and tell me why I'm wrong. So then why did you ask in the first place? Consummate power was never the goal of my build, so I really don't care. If I ever get a dyno sheet it will be as a result of a tune.

OK, after a number of these stupid, ridiculous, IMs.. I put "about 600HP in my sig", basically a STFU. I put it on the high side based on claims I was seeing, and basically piss people off. That generated even MORE hate IMs from the keyboard jockies. "I have a program that says XXX"...yeah, I'm impressed. Software...rolling my eyes.

So basically, the "About 600" number became to me, a means of poking these idiots in the eye with a stick. I could not possibly make more power than a "forum approved" motor, it was impossible. Simply couldn't happen. I had the wrong heads, I had the wrong cam, I didn't know my flow numbers, so there was no possible way. I did not build it the forum way, using the forum approved parts. (which btw, these forum approved cars typically put up anemic numbers at best)....

So for those of you who heard the story before, I thank you for joining the "About 600 Club" as a means of protest to internet idiocy.

For those who just signed up because it was cool, welcome.

Wait, that's Pat Robertson posing with the sign of Satan. Cool.

(I am soooo going to hell.)

It makes as much sense as anything, John... I can't wait for dyno numbers from that monster. It sounds like it should put out the power. It has that cackle that powerful motors make. The cackle of a clean burn. The heat issue is a result of a bad tune (too lean, thinking about it).

I really don't know what most of them are bitching about, really.

If nothing else YOU ACTUALLY BUILT THE MOTOR (well, paid for it, yuo know what I mean).

A majority are bench racing on their asses cause they haven't built jack.

It would be like me critizing, and I am sitting here on a stock LT1 with 170k miles and more leaks than an MG.

My stroker makes 600 HP using a secret blend of Wilkes County moonshine (Junior Johnson's family recipe), a virgin's vaginal secretions and weasel piss. Would that be too long to list in a sig?

I think the whole situation is funny. Not laughing at you, but the fact that people get so upset about someone else's stuff that they have zero personal interest in.

You should get those leaks fixed. Mine was leaking pretty good, and after I fixed it, I figure I picked up an extra 300 HP. Don't be leaving horsepower on the garage floor.

Well, that's the point, who knows maybe it will catch on. Every car forum you're on put "about 600HP" to make the point.

I can see if people are interested in what the build was as to determine the results of parts and pieces, however, this utter fascination that perhaps I didn't "follow the rules" and waiting breathlessly for a 200HP number is insane.

Anyway, years ago I was on a boating forum, someone said something stupid and I replied "I like pie"....

I've seen that being thrown around a time or two, why not "600 HP"?

That would explain why it feels like it only has 10 hp at times...

Hey, did I mention a membership fee? Send $19.95 to:

The ABOUT 600 CLUB
P.O. Box 600
Somewhere, NJ 07600

For your membership fee you will be granted the book of "How to be a Complete Prick on the Internet". Personally autographed by yours truly.

Also included, if you act now, is a Tire Guage. Not just any tire guage, but the tire gauge discussed on the internet for 4 consecutive pages of 20 posts each. Also included is the girls of the Almost 600 Club Calendar, above you can see Miss April-November.

Remember, however, you will forfeit the following:

1. Peer acceptance through association with brand names and irrelevant statistics.

2. Motors that don't run, even thought built with the best, most expensive parts found in a catalog and verified by brochures.

3. Piss poor power results

4. Getting your ass kicked on the track by guys with junkyard motors.

5. The ability to use catch phrases like port efficiency and under the curve.

And more.....

So don't hesitate, get out of your mother's basement from under that bulb hanging from a wire and go steal her check book and make it out, on the big line, to "About 600HP club" and send it in today.

Membership has its advantages, we're just not so sure what they are just yet.

Just tryin' to get the right wavelength mixed - the guy down the street told me it was good for 900TQ/@/crank, and with kevlar-teflon no-loss drivetrain, it would ALL find the rubber uh huh yup!

And with this tri-nitro-3,4 dibutyl methyl decane fuel additive, might get 4-figure TQ! Resized Image

Exactly. It is a well known fact that stickers reduce 1/4 mile times by reducing drag coefficient by 22% decreasing times by almost 2 seconds.

I know a guy who took the sticker off his old C4L98 and put it on his new Z06 and went from 14.5 to 12.5. It's all in the sticker.

Does the sticker come in blue? Cause I heard on another forum that the ink used for blue is lighter, saving weight.

I think I'd only buy some if they're blue.

See, that is one of the forum myths we try to dispell.

Everyone knows green and periwinkle stickers are just as fast. IN fact, the people who race professionally use either red or yellow stickers, you never see blue stickers on real race cars. Blue stickers are consumer grade stuff.

Now, as stated above if you go with red or yellow, they WILL cost $1250 per sticker, however, they clearly out perform any other stickers made. These are professional grade stickers.

The company that makes blue stickers made up this make blieve term...stickification efficiency....they claim because of better stickification efficiency the car will be faster and have better drag numbers.

The point of the About 600HP Club is to dispel the myths of blue sticker superiority perpetuated on forums. If you got on a forum and all you heard was "stification efficiency" you'd start to believe the hype, as if there isn't any other. Now, the argument in said forums is framed that if you're not talking about stification efficiency, you can't talk about stickers at all. Which basically eliminates all discussion of green and periwinkle stickers, even though they are just as good, and sometimes even a bit superior to blue.

Fact is weather you go with blue, green, or periwinkle, the performance will be about the same. Considering the periwinkle and green stickers are fifty cents and the blue ones are $500, and there's little performance gain between blue and any other color, take that extra $495.50 and put it into a cam, rockers, exhaust. The sticker by itself won't help from color to color.

However, if your goal is to have an imagined bigger penis, and gain the respect and adoration of the blue sticker crowd, then the extra $499.50 is worth every penny.

This is why the About 600HP Club exists, to fight internet idiocy and slay the myths of blue stickers and other wastes of money and mis information.

Send your checks in today!

Most of our members shouldn't need viagra.....

Depends of if it's raining. Stickification in the rain is different than stickification in dry weather.

But everyone knows that it's not all about stickification. There are many factors.

Yup, Tommy, you can put it on your "members only" jacket.

Matthew

Or his Dickies. He can go down to the track with his 600HP club patch and be reviled by some, and adored by others. Depends on which side of the stickification debate you fall.

After seeing him running 8's the pro blue sticker crowd will tell him he can run 7s if he just switched out his periwinkle stickter to blue.

However, being part of the 600HP club, and having just received his latest newsletter, he will be well prepared to address the folly in that position. As a result, be attacked and beat senseless.

Patches, stickers, viagra, what else do you guys want, fine, Membership Dues is now $49.95 and I'll throw in a free 600HP letter opener.

Most of our members shouldn't need viagra.....

Who said anything about 'need'? I heard they're good for 4 to 8 hours.....sounds like a new hobby for me?
