Good Morning CGs!

Well it was pretty warm here last night. Wifey still doesn't want to turn the a/c on. I disagree. The thermostat said 83 in the house last night and that's uncomfortable sleeping weather. I know it wasn't that hot outside, just inside. If it's the same tonight, the a/c is on and I don't care.

Got a quick estimate for the bumper last night. BIL's friend said a couple hundred, which is better than the $450 it cost my dad last time he had the bumper filled and painted. So not too bad. I'm not paying for it, but even so.

What's everyone else up to?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Man, that's HOT up in the house
Turn that ac on and cool it on down! We keep the downstairs unit between 73-75, and the upstairs at 78 during the day..

Upstairs is between 70-72 at night, with ceiling fans on max...Can't sleep otherwise!

Yeah...elec bill sucks, but we're on a co-op so it's not all that bad. I think the most I've ever seen was 235, and that was in the dead of summer. (heated sq is around 2500, so it's not that bad--at least I think it's not that bad!)

Winter/fall/spring it's usually around 125-150max..

What's up with the hot-house? This morning I heard on the radio that Chicago has had the coldest July in 67 years - you must be hoarding heat! It's gonna be a balmy 68 here tomorrow

We played pretty sucky last night, but managed to prevail in our match, as our opponents sucked worse. Good guys though - it was a fun match.

Have a great day, all!

I lived in a house on the east coast that had a "whole house fan" in the hallway. It had a lot of power, enough to pull curtains out to a 45 degree angle. Not only did it pul in cooler (sometimes) nite air, it blew the hotter air out of the attic which made a big difference.

I don't have ac here but do have a swamp cooler which uses about a quarter the electricity of ac. It's cool enough in the mornings that the cooler doesn't come on until about 3 p.m. and it shuts off about 8 p.m. when the breeze cools down. And that's on a 99 degree day.
It costs me about $10 a month to cool the house.

I hate swamp coolers... They work well enough in low humidity climates, but getting up on the roof twice a year to wake 'em up and put 'em to sleep is a bugger.

Oh! Good Morning Gurus!

Mine's not on the roof, easy to get to. Maintainence to drain & cover is about 10 minutes.

Good morning, Gurus!

Had a doctor appt this morning, now having a bit of an early lunch before going out to run errands. The weather is beautiful in the high 70s. We don't even have air conditioning here, just a fan here and there that we use for short stints.

My wife just called me from the Wal-Mart she is working at, two hours away. She is staying there all week. It was supposed to be for one week only. They are asking her to stay for THREE MORE WEEKS!

She wants to do it, because she is meeting some influential folks that could help her career. I guess she's gotta do what she's gotta do. The price one pays for having a strong work ethic is that everyone wants you on their team (to do their work for them).

I suppose we can only fight on weekends now. I should write topics of "conversation" down during the week so I don't forget anything!

I'm home.

The original plan was for me to go, but then they kept hedging on whether their project was a go or not, and I couldn't not schedule my work. Also, his boss and two other coworkers ended up going on the trip, and that just didn't sound like fun.

Well Mat be glad you have ac. The wife only has ac in the bedroom and it is suppose to be 107 in Portland today. So the house will be hot when she gets home.

Got my electric bill today. $331. Staying cool comes at a price. I'm working at the house we just bought. Electric and water are now on and I've been on a repair roller coaster. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, nothing is getting done. I'm tired and have to get up for an early morning delivery, then I'm picking up some marble, then I'm repairing more stuff. Later ...

I was on the road pretty early today. Got home about 4 pm. Unloaded the pickup then washed it. It rained just enough today to make the truck filthy. Being gone as long as we were, we had a mess of phone messages to return. One a friend having problems with his computer. Full of crap, so I am cleaning it up tonight. I'm bushed and headed for bed pretty soon.

Oh, we have had the AC on for 40 days straight. I thought our electric bills were high...thank God we don't have them as high as some of you.

Sounds like a nice, relaxing day, Tom - yowzahhhh!

I just looked at our latest electric bill - $218. We have our A/C on always - my wife's allergies and open windows don't get along very well. We put in an air-source heat pump in 2005 to replace our air conditioner, and it has paid for itself already in savings.
