I was 14 going on 18. Lots of kids from my area (Boston) went but I was just a little young for that journey. So we held down the fort at home.

Thank you for your service

I was 14 and the war was on all of our minds. They canceled the draft when I turned 18.

I was 20, had lost my school (1Y) deferment, so I was working, partying, and waiting for that letter from Uncle Sam. I had a low number in the draft lottery and received that letter the next March.

Up in Canada, growing up on a farm and 10 years old, I remember my parents talking about drugs, hippies, rock 'n roll and how they would be the ruin of this world!!!! And this morning I couldn't help but chuckle as my 20 year old daughter with a great sense of humour was singing a ditty from The Family Guy as we got ready to drive to work together..."Establishment, establishment - we always know what's best" - I think I might have taught her something....

I too was 14, interested in cars. I just moved from one town to another (my dad got a different teaching job), so I was making new friends. Didn't know about Woodstock until later.

I was 12, my brother was 14. We ran away to go to Woodstock, but our local cops caught us hitch hiking and took us home. We didn't get past the front of our neighborhood.
