Hey guys, was up early and out to the golf course...not to golf but we (local HS) hosted a BIG XC meet. I volunteered to work. I would be there anyway, watching my #3GS. Finished up at the meet and home by around 1:30. A former student texted me on the way home and was at the house wanting advice and information. By the time he left it was time to ready for church. Church over, Rosie and I went for a bike ride......Supper soon.

Tomorrow, our KofC is hosting a breakfast after church, that should take care of the morning. In the afternoon, I am hoping #3GS and I can swap shocks and (hopefully) brakes on his car.

Good to see everyone is getting out and about.
To answer T’s question, the knee is doing well. My summer vacation ends on the 20th as I’m supposed to get back to work then.
I went out to Cars n Coffee this morning. Nice weather and a good turnout. Saw a number of C8’s there in a variety of colors. Daughters BF pointed out a Lamborghini that his dads body shop had fixed. Then the owner was showing off and wrecked it again.
Otherwise , pretty lazy day here. Have fun while the weather’s still good!

Good morning - perfect beautiful day today here. There’s a bike fest in the Ozarks today I wanted to go to but got my weekends mixed up so I guess we’ll miss that. Really wanted to go. They’re having the local town festival here today at the park at the end of our street. I told Arron I wanted away this weekend, suggested take the bike and end up where we end up. Forgot about that festival. Got us booked for 23-30 at the red neck riviera (Panama city beach). Not where I wanted but stuff was filling up quick.
Tee that was really sweet what you did for that lady. I try to help people when an opportunity arises but have found myself being taken advantage of lately by a couple folks and one family member.
Y’all have a good weekend

How's the knee doing Bob? A lady I went to school with and then we both ended up teaching together here, for more than 30 years and we retired the same year, has needed both knees done...heck, longer than I needed mine (had mine done 8 years ago now), finally got her first one done last week. she's getting along pretty good with it. She's having the second one done in November.

Happy Friday everyone!
T, that was an awfully nice thing you did for the lady. Funny how good you feel after doing that stuff, isn’t it?
I’m not blessed with construction skills, so I try to find those spur of the moment chances to help others. It’s truly a good feeling.
We’ve got the daughter coming home with her BF for the week. Currently waiting on them to arrive so we can head out for margaritas.
Lastly, our veterinarian is getting rich this week as Ralphie the wonder dog (aka wreck it Ralph) has developed pancreatiti$. We’re fairly worried about him too. Funny how when they’re not barking and driving us nuts we get so worried about them.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey guys, Yup, cabinets came in.....not good, but they are here. FedEx driver tells me there are three pallets, so when he opens up the trailer (I'm the last delivery of the day, so my stuff is all that is on) I see two pallets as I expect and one NOT. They package the parts up in special boxes, well one pallet just had cabinet pieces shrink wrapped to the pallet. I told the driver that wasn't 'normal'. And once I got them all unloaded, I could tell they (FedEX) had, apparently, dropped the pallet and the pieces were strung all over, and they ditched the box and just shrink wrapped the pieces to the , now trashed, pallet. Rosie and I went through all the pieces separating the damaged pieces out. I don't even know if all the pieces are there. I've contacted the company and they will replace anything missing or damaged...one reason why I deal with them.

Last week, I had been asked if I do any pro=bono work. They were concerned about a lady, who about two years ago was involved in a really bad car accident and nearly died, but has worked her way back, but still has walking problems. She is the owner of our local flower shop (while she was in the hospital, friends kept the shop open for her so she would go bankrupt. Anyway the concerned citizens were woried about a ramp she uses to enter the backdoor (where she goes in and out), so I went by to look at it and speak to her. She, very humbly, said it worked ok, but in reality, it was quite feable. Her concern was "How much will this cost me?" "Rita, I will do this for nothing for you." She was quite taken. Then said "If you are doing that, maybe we can do something about the entry too...I'll pay you to do that one. I have lots of older people who, I'm afraid, might trip and fall." So we discussed what needed to be done there and she says "No hurry, whenever you get to it." I told her I had some nice treated lumber taken from another project that was laying around and I'd use that. So last evening I built the two ramps and about 8:30 last night I took them down and installed them so they would be done when she got there this morning. I needed to go back this morning as it was too dark for me to anchor the one. So I planned to get there and get it done before Rita got there...that didn't happen and when I got there she was extremely grateful for the work and even more surprised with the speed of which I got it done. I still need to order a post for a handrail on the front ramp so I can put the handrail up. All I am going to charge her foris the post I have to order as all the other pieces were left over from other jobs. She doesn't know that yet. she's a sweet gal, I don't mmind doing it for her. Rosie says I'm really building my reputation around town doing these Pro=bono jobs for older people.

Been working all morning on three cabinets, need to get back out there and finish them up (as much as I can).

Howdy!

Hot and humid. Sweating as usual. Just got back from babysitting the nursery for a couple of hours. Now back to my yardwork at home. I do what I can do.

Morning guys... Hectic morning already. I woke up about 6:45 thinking, on Tuesday, I propped the garage door, at the storage shed, in prep of the FedEx delivery...which as you might remember, didn't happen. I'd forgot that I had done that. So it's been propped (about an inch is all) since Tuesday morning. I had horror thoughts that someone found it and cleaned out the shed. So I jumped up out of bed, got dressed and filled my pockets with the stuff I normally carry, but then I couldn't find my phone and started looking all over for that. Didn't find the phone anywhere in the house, so decided to go check the shed. Luckily, everything there was fine (you'd really have to look to see that it was propped), so came back home to find the phone. Finally, decided the last place I could remember having it was at my Knights of Columbus meeting, so I went back up to the Hall to see if I'd left it laying somewhere there. I walked in the back door, looking on the ground where I'd parked my pickup, then inside and looked where I'd been handing the Tootsie Rolls out (Our Tootsie Roll drive is happening next week) and there on top of the water heater laid my phone. Thank you Lord for letting me find it.

I think I'll go out this morning and try to peddle those Tootsie rolls. FedEx is SUPPOSED to deliver my cabinets today. They called yesterday and said they were there but got there too late to go out yesterday, so today is the day.

In the mean time, I have a couple of bookcases for the county library and a bathroom cabinet for a repeat client to work on.

Have a great day guys...I'm thinking of a nap......

Good morning -
Yes, hope it wasn't your friend's car on that truck yesterday Marcus. That was awful I hate it for those who were waiting on those, hate it for the driver just all around bad.
Matt, when I worked at the body shop, I'd use a pinstripe brush for my touchups, the flexibility was nice. Of course I sanded edges of the chip when needed to help smooth, then glide brush across with light motions then would use compound after if necessary. Pearl white I've found you can't touch up it shows no matter what. I hate that color for that reason.
Rained again here during the night and a very heavy dew this morning to boot. Chances again this weekend - I just wanted a nice day to be in the pool and not have to be anywhere else - not in the cards, pool getting too cold to get into thanks to the neighbor's trees. We really need to get a heater for it somehow.
Have some photo critiquing to do for a photography friend later today which'll be a long phone call. He's trying to get into big bands with his concert photography, he shot two songs of Kiss in Biloxi the other night. He dropboxed me a ton of his edited shots for me to give my take on and suggest what else to fix, unfix etc. I've got my notes ready.

Good Morning CGs!

Despite my initial reluctance I got the grass cut yesterday morning. It's a good thing because we had more rain last night into this morning. I guess procrastinating wouldn't have helped me in this case.

Marcus, hope your client's car wasn't on that transport truck the other day. Terrible loss there.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Overcast here but hopefully no more rain.

I played TB this morning and did some plumbing. The garbage disposal took a crap after 8 years which I didn't think was too bad (we use it a lot). Older and wiser me bought the exact replacement even though I could have saved $20 here or there. Exact replacement meant the mount was the same, the wires were the right length, and the drain pipes lined up. 15 minute job and no surprises.

Bought a can of touch up paint for the Corvette the other day. Paid too much as I bought it at a local place but oh well. I had two chips that were bothering me. I touched those up and I'm much happier. A tip for touch up paint is don't use the brush in the kit, dab it with a toothpick using a very small amount of paint. Works much better.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning guys.... Been on the phone for the last hour getting things figured out. Talked to FedEx about my delivery, not going to happen until tomorrow now, not real happy, but it is what it is. Called the lumber company, and complained about the missing trim, they're going to see what they can do.... Then called my door company to make changes to the quote for the cabinet bid for the lady I talked with yesterday.

Going to be another busy day.

good morning! Hope everybody has a good day in store and Tee gets his supplies. I can understand that hassle - we are getting pushed back on stuff up here owner says. He's ordered stuff to be overnighted only for it to come a week later. I end up being the one getting the calls from mad clients.
Gloomy out to day, rain on schedule possibly through weekend. I guess "that time of year" where it's gloomy all the time is almost here. Vette club meeting last night, one dude has a c2 he's always wanted, big block, flame paint, etc. Another has a museum delivery of a '22 scheduled so we may go there with him as a club trip. Here I set in my little 2012 beater lol.

Hey guys, another busy day here. Picked up another complete kitchen cabinet job. An hour meeting with the general contractor (former student) then another hour with the owner to answer questions about the design I did and to give suggestions on a couple other issues they are facing.. I think we got some good solutions. Then back home to create some backsplash for the countertops I installed yesterday.

All this time I'm awaiting two delivery truck with materials for other projects. Yesterday FedEx Freight calls me to verify I would be around to receive the one delivery and that I had a way to unload, and what was the latest time for delivery. I assured them I would be around awaiting their call (an hour before delivery) and that I had a fork to unload. So the other delivery, my lumber supplier, the driver said I would be the last drop of the day. So I wait around hoping the calls don't come at the same time.

So I finish the backsplash and take it over to install and find I somehow mixed the measurements and have the finished ends on two pieces reversed, and mismeasured another piece, so it's too short and I get to remake that one. So 4 o'clock (my latest time agreed to by us yesterday) rolls around and I still haven't heard from FedEx, so I call them and get a run around saying they had already delivered everything to our town...."So, my delivery is sitting somewhere here in town and the driver NEVER called me?" No, the crate never got on the truck today and maybe, it will be delivered tomorrow.......BS.

So, I continue redoing the backsplash pieces and at 5 my pther delivery is here. I get it all unloaded and I say to the driver, "Where's my trim that I ordered?" So he climbes all over looking for it, "It doesn't appear to be on here. I'd like to say it surprises me...but it doesn't. Sorry." I was needing that trim to finish upanother job, was expecting it two weeks ago, but was assured by my salesman, it would be on the truck today. A call to him in the morning to chew some ass is in order.

Sorry to write a book here....just venting.

Good mornin - just trying to get to work today was work. Hoping I can have a do-nothing kinda day here, I need to rest. Dodging mowing trucks, trying to stop and slid on the grass where the idiot blew it out into the road, poke-ass people in front of me that wouldn't go and I needed to get gas. Stopped at the local, pumps out but they didn't put out the normal signal of bag on handle. Nope. Just a teenyweeny sign on the pump by the card slot. Other pump was taken over by dingbat using it for parking spot only. Next stop in next town, card reader wouldn't work, had to go in. Now I"m late for work and get here, no parking spot, they parked customer stuff over in the employee area. Waiting on someone to come yell at me for parking in customer spots up front.
I'd rather be home mowing (needed) or plumbing or whatever other horrible chores awaits. Vette club meeting tonight so will be home late but at least I won't have to cook.

G'mornin.
Up at the crack of dawn for a deivery uptown. Back by 09:30. Gonna wash the box truck and cut the grass at the nursery. Then we'll see. Maybe cut the grass at home. I sure hope the grass don't grow in Heaven or they have angels to cut it. Full day today but everyday is a full day. Just depends what you do with it.

47 DEGREES FEEL COLD THIS MORNING, SEMI-SUNNY, 81 THE PREDICTED HIGH. THE CHEROKEES ARE OK WITH THAT.

DID NOT GET THE CARS ROTATED YESTERDAY, MY USUAL GAS STATION WAS INOP SO I COULD NOT FILL UP THE TOMATO. I TRY TO PUT THEM AWAY WITH A FULL TANK.

#3 GRANDSON SHOWED UP YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, IS ASLEEP ON THE COUCH NOW. I'LL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE HELP AND SWITCH TOPS ON HARVEY :-)

Good evening y’all- glad to see everybody kept busy over the weekend - here too somewhat. Friday I ran my socks off, got rained on and got home late , Saturday was Arrons birthday, so cake and fixings. He made a $10 dog treat run to Walmart and came home with his own birthday present- $400 later - a blow up hot tub. I was skeptical but this is groovy. Heard to 104, color changing led lights, freeze guard, quiet motor, very rigid and durable. Sunday Captain Noisy over on the other side of the street wouldn’t quit so we went to Memphis to flea markets.today I’ve cleaned house, mopped , vacuumed and cleaned and rearranged the back patio . His hot tub bumped my big hammock so had to make stuff fit.
Pics of the ghetto hot tub attached

Sue and I both get lost in work to dull pain. When you're thinking about something else you don't hurt as much. Not that I have much of a choice. Too much work on the docket. But I'm chipping away at it. Just like eating an elephant. One bite at a time till it's almost gone. You can never eat a whole elephant. Broke out the pressure washer yesterday. About a weeks worth of pressure cleaning available to me but at least it will be done with till Spring. The bonus is everything will look purdy.

CLEAR, CALM, AND 56 DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH. LOOKS LIKE A PRETTY DAY COMING UP; THE CHEROKEES REJOICE.

AUTO ROTATION DAY AND ERRANDS TO RUN. HARVEY IN THE READY RACK, ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH BACK TO THE GLASS TOP. IT'S GETTING HARD FOR ME TO DO THAT BY MYSELF. I'LL SOON BE 80; BEING OLD IS A PAIN.

KEEP UP THE FIRE, Y'ALL---

Hey guys, I got up early to put some red meat on the smoker. It was pretty chilly to be on the deck in shorts, no shirt and no shoes. Pulled the cover off, plugged it in and turned the dial to "smoke" (the starting position), then went into the house to prep the 'butt'. I looked out to notice there wasn't any smoke coming out and the display blinking at me.....Sonofabitch.... The igniter isn't working.... So I google how to replace it...not too bad a job, but I don't have a replacement. So a trip over to the 'city' is quickly hatched. Rosie says "While we are over there we might as well do our grocery shopping for the week." So we end up spending all morning. No big deal, but it puts the smoking on the 'back burner' so to speak (Don't hate me). Once we get home, I unload and start the replacement of the igniter. While the smoker is all torn down, I figure I 'may as well' clean it all up nice. So then I 'fire it up' (don't hate me) and decide, I may as well go ahead and throw the butt on and cook it...it will be meals throughout the week. It's 9pm now and I'm just about ready to tear it apart...actually driving me crazy it smells so good.

My Royals are done for the year and Salvy Perez couldn't hit another Homer to take the home run record all to himself. He's tied for the Royals record. He's had a great season, even if the team hasn't. Wait 'til next year.

Booked a pair of comp tickets at Hard Rock to see Mannheim Steamroller the night before Thanksgiving. That should be fun. Sue took in a little kitty found in a guys yard. 2 1/2 weeks old I think. Bottle feed for week, start on mixed food probably the end of the week or so then find a home for it in about a month. Sue has people waiting for kitties. This one is black. We named it Star. We have a weak spot for defenseless animals. Guess that's why Sue took me in.
