From what I've been led to believe, to say the c3 and C4 are both fibreglass is true. Just as your favorite local stripper and Phyllis Diller are both women. They both fit the description, but are actually quite different. I've never seen stress or cold related cracks on a C4, but my '68 Vette was loaded with them.

Last year I put a Superram on my mostly stock w/headers
Vette. I know the headers did alot, but I'm truly impressed with my SR. The butt-o-meter tells me it's pulling as well or harder, plus it's pulling well into the 5k rpm range before it drops off. No more 5k wall.

Edelbrock and Accel offered an upgraded base. Infact, it was an Edelbrock base that Accel used on their SuperRam intake.

While I can't say you're wrong on this point, this wasn't the case when I held each of them and looked. The 1st time I saw an aftermarket TPI base it was an Edelbrock at Jeg's.
I noticed it had a casting # on the bottom to represent the
generic series of casting it was made from.
The 1st base I bought was a big mouth from TPIS. I recognized the same casting number and looked around on the net for an Edelbrock. The #'s were identical, so for that much I agree with you. After reading some threads claiming fitment difficulties on the edelbrok/TPIS parts, I sold my TPIS and got a Superram base. It's definitely a different casting than the others. So from my experience, they aren't all Edelbrocks. The exception to this being that the Superram bases sold new for the last couple years ARE Edelbrocks due to the production issues at the plant where the s/r was being made.

Sorry to create the mystery guys. My son got a Nintendo DSi
for Christmas. It's a handheld gaming console that is able to utilize WiFi. When I created this thread, it was by using the DSi when connected online. We've been having a bit of trouble maintaining the connection and I was testing it out. It looks like it might hold this time.

I'm gonna get flamed pretty bad here, but I was once one of the afore-mentioned bottom feeders.
As for me, it kinda went like this;

In high school, I was continuously told,"let's be friends."
The week I graduated I met a great girl and we dated all summer and into her freshman year at college. Then I was told, "Let's be friends."
No one's fault, just the way it was.
When I went thru college, I got so many of the,"let's be friends" statements, that I made the decision that I had to be like the jerks to be interesting. So, I became one, and proceded to pork nearly every girl I could.
This became a learned behavior for me that lasted to the extent that I couldn't understand or realise when someone genuinely cared about me.

That behavior even extended into the dating relationship I had with my wife. Twice. I eventually settled down and got with the program and have been faithful since. At this point I'm not gonna wreck the life we have together for some strange.

My point is this, some guys just don't know any better, some can't understand that someone could care about them.
Some guys just need to feed their ego thru "the chase."
Some are just slime.

Say what you want, but that's who I was.

We did the test out of frustration. I'm not gonna outline the probs here, but we've had a houseful of ailments in the past few years, mostly suffered by our kids. My daughter especially has such low resistance that she reacts to almost every flu shot she's had to get.(I can't talk my wife out of getting them). When she goes thru her period she's down for a week and barely makes it thru school. She has other issues she was born with as well, and we've been wondering if our home's environment was a contributing factor to the problems. My son also has issues, but not as severe. My wife and I also have had some health related issues. So we started to wonder if our home is affecting all of us.

Do you guys know anything about Radon gas?
We did two short term tests here and they both came out the same. 7.7 rads, with the maximum safe level at 4.0.
Obviously we need to take this further. Our house is a
ranch style on a radiant heated slab. Anyone have any
experience with this stuff?

I'm good with that. I do blame Clinton for his inaction that assisted the 9/11 terrorists.

I also blame Huckabee for letting this scum go.

I gotta tell you Dale, I tend to agree, but at what point does the perpetrator assume accountability? Huckabee didn't pull the trigger any more than (and it's hard to say this)
Clinton caused the attack of 9/11. I didn't care for Bill Clinton, or his decisions based on popularity, but he's not the one who planned 9/11.
If I go to a store and look at, but not buy a pistol, am I responsible for the actions of the person who does buy it?
If only 20/20 hindsight worked as foresight as well.

I agree... one less piece-o-$hit

I don't know much about Huckabee, but he's not the one who pulled the trigger. The one believed to be accountable for the crime has been properly removed from the gene pool.
Governors don't wake up and let these guys go. There are standard investigations that take place. He acted upon the info in front of him.
The criminal is responsible for his actions.

It's not a law, but the local convenience stores are all pushing shopping bags over any beer purchase. It seems the local sherrifs deputies will cite you for some form of DUI or open container violation on the idea if it's not in a bag, then you're ready to drink it.

It's not a driving law, but...
Here in the Dayton, Ohio area is a small town called Yellow Springs. They have a village ordinance against nuclear war.

(I just re-read this and I never realised how much I hat living in Dayton, Ohio.)

I've lived in the Dayton, Ohio 'burbs all my life. at one time, Dayton was a great town. We had ALOT of general motors factories. I used to joke that I was one of the five guys in town WITHOUT GM discount. We also had National Cash Register (NCR). When my dad was working in the toolroom, there were as many as 6500 toolmakers at NCR. Now, NCR has
decided to move to Atlanta at the whim of the CEO.

Like alot of us in the rust belt, I could go on, but for the sake of bandwidth, I'll stop.

As for the weather here, it sucks. Humid as hell, allergens everywhere, sinus problems for all. If I were to suddenly become single, I'd be in AZ (brother) or Norcal(friends).
I stay because I work in one of the last jobs here that pays a nearly modest wage.

One advantage is the real estate is reasonable. It has to be, because no one is moving here.

I agree w/ teebee. Get a good one. The price you pay will long be forgotten in the use you get from it in the future.
When you buy junk tools, they remind you of it everytime you use them. I like my Dewalt 14.4v, but the battery life is not what I'd hope. Otherwise, it's a good investment.

It's pretty much done now. Just hafta flush the cooling system and get the junk dexcool out of this thing.
A good friend manages at a store for a large local chain
of parts stores. He's sold a ton of these gaskets for the 3.1's,3.4's, and 3.8's. The most common problem he's told of is that the dexcool, as it ages, attacks the gasket material and the intake ports drink the water, leaving no trace of water leaks. Since mine was losing water without
a visible leak, I looked closely at the lower intake and head mating surfaces. There could very well have been some
coolant suction going on here.
One other part I had to chase was a "help" elbow for a bypass that runs from the lower intake to a port in the belt tensioner(?). My friend was out of them, so I had to track one down elsewhere.
The only other objection is the crud that I found in this thing. My upper manifold was in good shape, but very encrusted with EGR crud. After cleaning out the lower aluminum 1/2 of the intake, I called my friend back and he got me a price on a new upper replacement. Including gaskets, upper intake, new antifreeze, elbow, and coolant system flush, I think I have about $160 to $175 in the job that would have cost nearly $1000 at my friendly dealer.
Btw, the upper intake was $90+, and the fel-pro gasket set
was $60+. Retail on these were $285 and, (I think) $85, repectively.
That tells you how much markup in parts and labor cost is involved in the r+r of the intake halves plus a coolant system flush.

The amount of time I have in it so far is about 8-9 hours, and that includes chasing some parts, and looking for a couple of misplaced items.
And the best part, I got to take a day off work and do some peaceful wrenchin' WITH the approval of the, "home office".
