You must drop the pan. They do make a plug to go in the tail shaft.

Any form of straight water will begin to form rust almost instantly. NEVER put straight water in your engine. At the very least put in a bottle of water wetter.

Without knowing your goals, there are a million possible answers.

A good first step is the HotCam kit from GMPP. It is a little more aggressive cam, LT4 springs, and 1.6 roller rockers.

Make sure you ohm the injectors. Shorted injectors can fry the drivers in the ECM.

why would it run directly to the Alternator?

surely they're just using that term as a way to say "power when the key is on"

There has to be a fuse in there somewhere.

If I where looking for fuel pump power, I wouldn't go directly to the battery (or a wire that is always hot) because the fuel pump would run all the time. I'd be looking for a wire that is hot only when the key is in the "run" position.

It wouldn't run all the time assuming you are using a relay.

The ECM handles the advance. Did you set the timing with the est disconnected? If so. did you hook it back up?

You can use a 12V buzzer in place of the fuse that is blowing to allow you to find the overload. Sounds internal to the ECM.

Unless you get stuck in traffic, then it doesn't matter whether you have a 160 or 190* thermostat.

No air flow means temps will rise until 228*, and the fans start their cycling.

Just the nature of the beast.

My 96' got up to 220 once in very heavy traffic (in south Florida at 90 ambient temp. Its driven every day, 25 miles each way to work.

Can we agree not to have a pissing contest?

If you think that is a pissing contest, you have led a sheltered life! Threads about temps, fans, and thermostats are the worst. Everyone has an opinion and everyone's stink but their own.

Anyway, My 70 Chevelle with a 454, 3000rpm stall, 125HP shot of NOS and 12 inch slicks ran a junkyard 12 bolt with 3.55 gears for many years with no issues. Best run was high 10's. But yeah its an auto.

Three things are required to enter closed loop.

1. A preset amount of time has passed.

2. The coolant temp above a preset value.

3. A hot, functioning O2 sensor.

Can you scan this car?

Stop running it with open headers.

I warned you that the O2 sensors would not operate properly with open headers. May need heated sensors. I put them on my old 86 when I put long tubes on. Borrow a trailer and get the exhaust fixed!

How did you determine the low current drain and what is the reading?

When the battery goes down, you say it won't start. Does it turn over?

I have been flying airliners for 20 years and that scared me. Some pretty crappy techniques there. I am amazed the gear held up through some of those crab landings. A couple of them were nicely done.

My 86 had flat top pistons with 4 small valve reliefs and it was 9.5:1. I would love to see a photo of a dished stock piston from a Corvette L98.

I would be willing to chip in on a call to Gordon.
