I got an answer. My father said you can reuse them but the effort to clean the fittings so they fit tight and the solder to flow right can be time consuming and at $70 per hour it's faster and cheaper for the customer to have the plumber grab new and git-er-done. The old stuff ends up in the scrap yard to be recycled. Your second post, for a "lay person", was spot on. If you want to use the old just clean them well.

:laughing2: It's hard to see through tears of laughter to type this...LMAO. The last snow we had I paid my cousin to come over and plow my driveway. I talked him into putting the plow back on his truck, yeah it costs me some coin but it was worth it(day before Easter in Michigan). Thanks for the story.

1992. I called Corvette Central but their computers are down and they couldn't help. I'll try again tomorrow morning, I was planning on a trip there tomorrow for shocks (Hmmm...bounce bounce). Hopefully it will be fixed. They didn't use the same one for all vette's?

My antenna motor fell out while backing up to leave for lunch. I had plans to pickup an antenna mast repair kit to replace the broke antenna...don't need it now. I was backing up and felt the thump as I rolled over something . There just happened to be a truck driver walking by and told me my motor just fell out, ripped out the wiring as well. He found it rather funny, I was torn between embarrassment and anger. With my FSM and the info on guru I will be ok. Luckily I usually listen to cd's. But it is almost 70 F out, the tops off, and it's all good.

Hmmm...not sure why. My father is a master plumber (31 years), I'll ask him. That is an interesting question. I briefly worked as an apprentice but found it wasn't my cup of tea. Off hand I would say it is to spend more money$$$$$. :thumbright:

Just sent to me, enjoy.

The Man Rules
At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down
Finally , the guys' side of the story.
( I must admit, it's pretty good.)
We always hear ' the rules '
From the female side.
Now here are ' the rules ' from the male side.

These are our rules!
Please note.. these are all numbered '1 '
ON PURPOSE!

1. Men are NOT mind readers.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

1. Sunday sports : It's like the full moon
or the changing of the tides.
Let it be.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do.
Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
In fact, all comments become Null and void after 7 Days.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are.
Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one

1. You can either ask us to do something
Or tell us how you want it done.
Not both.
If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

1. Whenever possible, Please say whatever you have to say during commercials. .

1. Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colours, like Windows default settings.
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not A colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it will be scratched.
We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say 'nothing,' We will act like nothing's wrong.
We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, Expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine... Really .

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball , or Football,
or golf, or Sex .

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape. Round IS a shape!

1. Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight;

But did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

Pass this to as many men as you can -
to give them a laugh.

Pass this to as many women as you can -
to give them a bigger laugh.

Hi black86v3tt3, ASR stands for Acceleration Slip Regulation. It uses three subsystems of spark retardation, throttle close down (yes, the pedal pushes back), and rear brake intervention. It works with the ABS (This was from the Factory Service Manual).
It scared me the first time it happened, there was a little snow on the road and all of a sudden there is an odd grinding type sound from the rear of the car and the gas pedal is pushing back against my foot. Just like the first time ABS kicks in, kinda freaks you out. I believe 1992 is the first year in production and is standard on every vette from then on. I assume yours is an 86 from your name so I don't think you have it. I usually turn it off if it is dry and sunny out. On the good side it won't let you do burnouts, saves ya some money. :thumbright:

Evidently I have failed to convey my amusement with this story. Last weeks news? I just read it today and found it laughable and shared it with my co workers who found it amusing. I agree that half the story is crap and I am well aware of said treaties from high school history class. My interest is with what Absolut was thinking with this ad. Perhaps this thread was not wise.

I just read that the Swedish owned Absolut Vodka's new ad campaign is geared toward the Mexican market. Their ad shows a map of Mexico and North America with Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California as part of Mexico. This ad caters to the Mexican sentiment that this area was stolen from them and is theirs. It seems that a lot of retailers are not too happy and choosing not to stock their product. Complaints by phone are hung up on and emails dumped without being read. Looks to me like Absolut Vodka is flying the middle finger salute to the old stars and bars. Not very good business or manners IMO. :dontget: This was in todays edition of the Grand Rapids Press.

I had been reading that the door windows index down for the door to open and close when the door closes, is this true? It was also noted that the doors won't open if they don't go down, thus the passenger can not enter/exit the vehicle if this process doesn't happen? Also, there is a manual release for the doors? Isn't that the door handle? I haven't been in the newer one yet so I do not know. Maybe this is an issue with the new vette and not the C6?

This thread is simply my interest in a solution to an engineering challenge, and I used this section because there is not currently a C7 forum to inquire. Thanks.

I adjusted the hood pins which did help a lot, also made the hood line up with the doors better. Watch out though, you can go too far and the door will rub. and scuff the paint. I did not notice the rubber stops, I'll have to try that out tomorrow. Thanks.
I'm also going to look around the front mounting hinges for anything loose that could contribute to the problem.

BTW, thanks Bastet44. I have mine on my hatch window by each front corner. Even with the beige interior and non tinted windows the black tends to blend in. White lettering would really pop, anything in the works? :thumbright:

Welcome Celt1UK Do you have a left hand or a right hand drive? I ask because I saw a tv show from the UK and the vette had the steering on the left hand side. Cheers.

I read through the Audio FAQ as well as all the posted threads in this section. I checked out Stinger and that looks to be the ways to go.
When I talked about replacing the speakers I neglected to mention that it has a JVC HU. I decided today to tackle some of the audio oddities I have been having. The front speakers are the Bose Gold and in the rear I pulled the covers off and found Pioneer speakers. It seems the JVC unit was wired directly into the harness' going to each speaker. It sounds good most of the time except for frequent squeals and crackling sounds. I gather the Bose are designed to only work with the Bose HU? If so, then the fronts need to come out a be replaced with 6x9's? What would you suggest as the minimum amp to use? Thanks.

It's Michigan and it was warm today, 62. I got it out of storage yesterday and I put over 100 miles on it just driving around, what a ride. I had an owner of a C6 give me a wave..first...and I waved back. Felt great.

I bought my 92 in November and only put about an hours worth of time on it before parking it. It is my first vette and today has been pure heaven. I found turning off the ASR is the best, laid down a set of stripes about 30 feet long before letting off the gas.

Is it normal for the hood to shake when hitting bumps? It stays firm over smooth ground but on rough road it bounces a bit. It's going to be Corvette summer.

Oh, I like the look of those stripes. I had thought about GS type stripes but those would look good on my 92. Gonna get me some. :thumbright: Hmmm, maybe some fender stripes to.

The speaker covers on my Bose speakers on the floor by my feet are really worn and half gone. Is there new fabric I can buy to cover it? Perhaps replacing the speakers all together?

Excellent. I have been looking around for one as well, just like the look. I have checked with Melrose and they did not have any used tops and wanted $785 for a new one. I have seen several on Ebay. Where did you find it? :me2:
