Most people I run across seem to think that the header bolts back off. They don't. The gasket shrinks with heat cycles. Of course the bolt could vibrate loose if the gasket shrinks enough that the bolt loses all of its torque. You guys may already know this, but if you didn't then I wanted to make sure you did. Use a good quality gasket, retighten the bolts after the first few heat cycles, then check them after about 2 dozen heat cycles, then every oil change. You will find after about the 2nd oil change that they aren't budging when you try to tighten them. That is the method I use.

It's all on the list!

Rather minor, really. Just give us a couple of days...

Seems that Hooker is the low cost decent header choice for many.  I have EMs and they are nice, but they are also money...

You need to load your avatar back up, or one of your whole car. I love the color of your car.

My O2 sensor is in the #8 primary tube maybe 4 or so inches from the head. I haven't had to run a heated one. I would bet you will need a heated one with yours being all the way back in the collector. I think you just have 3 wires instead of 2, the third wire goes to a 12V source that has power when the key is on. Not 100% sure tho. I would wait till the exhaust is done tho before going through that, as the exhaust system will definitely retain more heat and it might be ok. With the 02 sensor in the collector and running open headers that is more than likely causing your problem.

It's smaller. By putting a smaller crank pulley on everything slows down just like you know it to. In order to speed the alt back up you have to put a smaller pulley on it in order to bring its ratio with the crank pulley back in line.

For the time settings, go to "Edit Account" and set your correct local time zone.

Edit: Ok, I just noticed that even after doing that the time is still 2 hours off for me. I posted too quick

I went with Hookers and am happy with them, although I now wish I would have spent the extra change and got ceramic coated. When I pull the motor in a few years (if it lasts that long) I'll probably buy hookers again only ceramic coated. I wasn't worried about looks but my heads/cam/hsr intake swap turned out so nice that the headers and accessories now look bad. I would think you would want the EGR provisions if you are going to have emissions inspections, especially since laws change and even if egr is not mandatory today, tomorrow or next year it might be.

As long as you don't apply pressure, you don't lose that much fluid... besides, you do need to bleed them...

man the threads I miss while being busy.

Yes, I have adapter plates and headers available for this swap. As well as pretty much anything else needed. No cutting on the car is required with my plates. That's a personal preference though as not cutting on the car requires you to do something about the AC. The LS2 compressor mounts on the lower passenger side of the engine. The motor mount horn on that side is in the way.

You know you can always run a carb on that LS2. I can get you the manifold and other parts needed to do it.

What is required under MD law? Long tubes will move your cats and that may be a problem. If not, my vote if TPIS or Melrose.

I'm planning on upgrading the front calipers on my 93 coupe to the C5 set-up. At the same time I want to install speed bleeders on all four calipers. The fronts are no problem since I'll do the bleeders befor I install the calipers, but when I do the rears how do I keep brake fluid from spilling all over the garage floor?

Also I just added an avatar. It says max size is 300X300. That is WAY too big in my opinion. I went back in and downsized mine. Up to you on the size but 300 X 300 is more of a small picture than an avatar.

Thanks. I am wondering since the O2 is in the collector if I will have to go to a heated O2 sensor. I hope not, but it may be unavoidable.

I am going to run Datamaster once the exhaust is done. I've already spoken to Alvin about it.

It is very possible. You will have to get it all done, then start troubleshooting. I have been lucky and had almost no troubleshooting. Not 1 single leak. I have beat this thing alot already testing and tuning. I bought an ALDL cable and downloaded Datamaster (Case gives good advice) and found my tune needs reworked some. I emailed the Datamaster files to Alvin and he is going to burn me a new chip, then I'll send mine back when I get his. My point is, finish your exhaust and leaks and such, then run it. If it throws a code then read them and see what's up. If not then you might have to buy an ALDL cable and download Datamaster and see what is going on. Trust me, it is well worth it and it will let Alvin put the tune spot on.

Well the good news is it went from a massive VC leak, to a small one. On the other side. I fixed the driver's side problem, now I have a small passenger side problem. I can see exactly where it's leaking and can't do a dam thing about it. I'm getting another gasket. Seems the gasket I put in was cut a little thinner than the other side, but I said...WTF.....So I put it in. No big deal I think a new gasket will solve it.

Anyway, I am running open headers. when the car warms up it runs like crap. It seems to miss like crazy. Is it possible it's not going into open loop because of the open headers.

Once I get the oil leak fixed I will get the exhaust done. Do you think that will solve the problem?

Is there any way to change the default settings on the colors of the forum? the light gray with the blue is making it hard for me to see the users name who is posting in the forums.

Thanks,

Just a few things so folks know:

Some posts might look weird. The conversion worked pretty well, but I've seen a few that didn't convert right.

Some user sig's might be goofed, I'm working on that now.

Some avatars are missing. If your avatar was linked from a remote site, or you're a new guy (within the last week or so), you might not have anything. Simply click on Edit Account on the main menu and upload your avatar.

Hang in there, we'll get those last second bugs squashed
