Just kidding!
I spend about 5 minutes scanning the other site, and about 3 hrs. here a night. What does that tell ya!
I enjoy the sense of humor that is running rampant, along with the sincerity and compassion of this group.

The knowledge has moved over. Again keep up the good work

+1

I have been off and on trying to find the size of the front brake lines to replace a couple sections. I put in a line lock and want to remove it. The line lock came with tubing smaller than the existing tubing.

I tried doing some tubing with a Ridgid tool, and it just doesn't hold the small tubing very well.

Does anyone make a rebuild kit for these units? Last I heard, there wasn't one.

That's a shame. All you need is the seal and a wheel cylinder hone in most cases..

I was never able to locate a rebuild kit

If anyone's stupid enough to believe that, they need to go up against ERND IT one time. She's a moderator over at CF in the Auto-X/ Road Racing and SE sections. She's also just a super neat lady and can drive the wheels off of her Corvettes. I've never even gotten close to her times when competing against her. Donna takes her racing very seriously. We both belong to CCRT, a regional racing club that's part of NCCC.

That would be Donna Littlejohn! She is an incredible lady! She was president of my Corvette Club when I lived in South Carolina - Capitol City Corvette Club! She was top finishing woman Auto-X in NCCC Southeast this past year I belive. I have been watching her progress!! I remember when she bought her Z06.

I'll check those out too. I guess the halfass double flare makes sense.

I might do aluminum lines for the pneumatic lines on my truck. They sent me plastic DOT lines, which are probably fine, but I'm not quite convinced.

Actually, using the double flaring adapter with a flaring tool can make a very nice end for retaining a hose. You simply go only part way through the initial step of the double flare operation and stop at that point once you've gotten the desired shape.
The tool you show works well. You generally need it more on larger tubing sizes. The smaller the tubing, the easier it is to bend and bend shorter w/o kinking. All of your standard flaring tools work well on steel or soft copper. I've never really had occasion to try them with aluminum.
This is pretty easy stuff. I'm sure you'll have no problem with it after very little practice.

I haven't done any of this before. I guess I need something capable of doing steel brake and fuel lines, maybe aluminum and copper at some point also.

Have you guys used something like this?

I also need something to barb some tubes with. Or I guess I could flare them. I don't see anything that lets me expand a barb in it for holding a hose and clamp on there.

This is for the low pressure power steering system, for now.

My car is automatic.

I know the timing curve was changed, fuel delivery, and fan temp.

The car ran great with it. Just can't use it for my new mods.

I was going to have it "touched up" by Corvettes of Westchester, Chuck over there read the chip and said it looked "pretty good" and said it wasn't worth the time and effort to change anything.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to adapt some sort of magnetic crank trigger like most of the other add-on systems?

Any idea on the cost of the new distributor?

What sort of work will this involve? Will you provide a plug n play adapter to hook into our existing ECM harness? Will other sensors have to be changed over to LS1 equipment?

What about all the different ECM changes over the years? 84, 85, 86-89, 90, 91, 92-93, These all had changes in the inputs and outputs. Probably the biggest being the switch being from MAF to speed density. Would you also market it to TPI f-body owners (way more of those than vettes.)

I like the idea of sequential injection though.

The moates setup allows you to retain the limp-home factory chip, then replaces the chip with a flash type memory, and can allow up to 4(?) different programs to be stored and switched between. I'm no expert on it, I think jrriflecoach would have more input there. I had no idea it was discontinued, he's a small operation so it would surprise me.

I am forwarding all your questions to the engineer to answer most of your questions.. we are still testing so we dont know all the answers as of yet BUT yes it will be a plug and play system complete with wiring harness , computer, distributor any and all sensors needed for the conversion, and one of the packages will come with LT1 edit--- The work involved would be finding a suitable place for the computer to be mounted , changing wiring harness out, changing distributor... we've started and completed this project on a 1972 corvette with an L98 in it and it took about 4-6 hours to complete ...

Ok I completely missed the question...

Seems like having that rod as close to parallel with the others and about the same length would reduce rear bump steer, right?

To get it to toe in on compression, you need that toe rod to get longer than the other links as it compresses. So it'd have to incline from the rear wheel to the diff. INOW, raise the location of the pivot on the differential, and maybe even move that pivot outward so that the toe-rod is shorter.

I've received emails from the administrator accounts of other forums when they're trying to bring attention to a particular subject. Any reason one can't be sent out from here to members who haven't posted since prior to the Big Bang letting them know that there is indeed life on this planet? I'm sure a lot of those folks probably have forgotten that they even registered here in the past...

PCM for Less.

I did a bunch of research and spoke to someone I trust, then called down there and spoke to Alvin.

I gave him the specs of the motor verbally and he said he should have no problem programing the chip.

The chip that's in there now was done by Performance Resource.

I just visited the Moates site and find only sketchy information on their Ostrich. In one place it says the Ostrich is discontinued. So I don’t know much about the Ostrich I really have never heard of them until recently ; but, if you are familiar with the Ostrich maybe you can answer your own question with this info ----> Our product will permanently replace the existing TPI computer (with its chip memory) with a newer, faster processor GM computer that uses flash program memory. Once you arrive at the correct tune, there is no chip to burn, no chip burning hardware, and no chip burning software. It also changes the L98 from a bank to bank injector fire to a sequential injector file which increases economy and decreases the amount of emmissions

Let me know if this helps any...Thanks!!

I'd like to see the rear bumpsteer no a stock C4, and a C5 for that matter. Seems like a lot of guys run a good bit of rear toein and I think that is to reduce oversteer on corner exit (besides what you can do with the engine power).
I gotta wonder if the stock design is toeing the wheels out in bump inducing roll oversteer.

I just read this in AutoWeek:
====================

By DUTCH MANDEL

Hunter Stewart is like other kids his age, yet he is not like anyone you've ever met.

Hunter plays soccer, baseball and video games. Outside his front door, the blue-eyed towhead from Carlsbad, California, can wake-board or ride an ATV at his dad's side. His freckled face is Ralph Lauren-catalog-cute, but behind his four-foot frame and child's whimsy is a hard-nosed racer on a mission.

Eight-year-old Hunter wants to cure breast cancer.

He does this not simply because his 34-year-old mom, Alycia, has the insidious disease. He does this because he believes it is the right thing to do. Hunter races a Ford Ranger Trophy kart to raise money and awareness for a cure. If his first season is an indication, he might get the job done.

Empathy has been with him forever. On vacations to Mexico, he takes clothes and toys to less fortunate kids. In a school contest, the third-grader raised money to buy a goat for a family in a developing nation.

This breast-cancer fight is a natural. Shortly after his family had decided to go racing, doctors discovered Alycia's cancer. At the same time, Hunter was in school learning about what scientists do. He already knew about raising money, so he put the two together and is now behind the wheel of a Susan G. Komen-liveried Desert Dog Racing Trophy Kart. For every lap completed in 2007, Hunter donated his $5 allowance. Last year, he gave $1,000.

His giving is infectious. As the family loaded their motor home for a race, Hunter grabbed a bucket. "Why do we need this?" his dad asked. "So that when I go to the track, more people can put money in." He was right: The series, as well as other teams, donated mightily. People came to recognize his passion and came to help.

Hunter was rewarded. In his first season, competing against kids up to four years older, Hunter finished fourth in the championship, earning a ride on the top-flight Team Adrenalin Trophy truck for '08.

Hunter's mom is doing all she can to be there for him and his sister. She's endured six rounds of chemotherapy and surgery.

What's next: With help, the Stewarts are setting up a nonprofit called Racing 2 Cure to help existing groups raise funds and awareness through motorsports. Learn more at www.hunterstewartracing.com.

Call it paying it forward--at speed.

It is amazing how depression can hit. I have literally been depressed terribly, and at the same time sitting there thinking I have almost everything I could want and have ever wanted in life. Beautiful, great wife great kids, great friends, new house, new truck, new car, 4 wheeler, vette, great job, everything. No reason at all to be upset or depressed but yet the feeling is there.

The best way out of it for me is to go home, then go out to a bar with the vette and tell the wife I'm the DD for the night. She drinks till she looks like Jeffvet's avatar. I then take her home, dress her up in heels and a nightie and handcuffs and......
Then, when morning comes, I take Central Coaster's advice.

Depression is long gone!

Do you have the window sticker for the car? If I'm not mistaked the build sequence number is in the top right corner just under the VIN number. This should be a 5-7 digit number depending on when car was built. If not sometimes a build sheet was left in the car from an employe installing seats(under side cushion), possibly stuffed up in the dah area, or under the carpet. Sometimes the build number was hand written on the inside of bumpers, gas tank, under console for purpose of scheduling.

I ordered my new chip today and expect to have it next week.

I have a chip that I was using when the motor was stock. It's set up for a 1990 stock motor.

It was done by a local tuner and seems to be a good tune.

I paid $250 at the time, still have the original receipt.

Anyone want it for $125?

My new one is costing $250, so I figure $125 is fair.
