Mine is just my first name with middle initial. Got lazy when trying to think of a "screen name"

Good morning guys! Finally got my relic of a computer back up and sputtering along. Looks like there's been a lot going on with everone.
I had a good trip to Chicago last month except for the road construction delays. On the return trip to Atlanta it took 15 hours to get home! Nashville got us bad!
Not much more for me, too hot today for much activity.

Have a good day

On my 89 I do hear the ABS do a "system check" every time I back out of my drive way. It lasts about 2-3 seconds and the sound is easy to hear, it's almost like a low growl.

Hey Mat, just curious about one thing. Was the oil change you're talking about before or after the Seafoam?

Well, it's a little late in the day but Happy Father's Day to all the guys!

Hey Matt, I'll be up in your neck of the woods some time Monday evening. I'm going to visit my daughter in Gurnee, her second child is due on Wedsday.

I usually avoid the threads on temps, oil, octane, but I will give my opinion. The temps you describe are just fine. I just can't justify the cost of a "chip", and adaptor board to cut on the fan 20* degrees sooner. These temps drove me crazy for a couple of years too, now with a new OE radiator like yours and even with a 195* thermostat it's fine. But if you do the "chip", I wouldn't go any lower than 210*

Anyhow, after a long day of work yesterday - started with a 9am meeting, and I got home around 10:45pm, I'm home-based the next few days which is great.

I'm off to get more ice cream churning - I think I'll start with some Lemon Ice Cream.

Have a great day!

I just want you to know, I've put on about 3 lbs over the last couple of days. I've eaten every cookie, ice cream bar, and anything else with any sugar in it I can find in the house after reading your posts! Sure sounds good!!

I have an automatic so there is no shift light. Unfortunately I can't comment on that. And although it tachs up faster, I don't know if it's a significant difference. If your shift light is staying on you may have another issue.

I have an Auto too but I have an upshift for best economy lite that wants to stay on above 65

Hey Mat, I was just trying to catch up on some threads. Nice job you did there!
Also, just for your info the 89's do have a up-shift light for the auto's also. Page 2-12 of Owners Manual.

I agree with CC on the bushings. The "short-cut" method is to use a can of spray silicone lube with the spray tube. If you're trying to isolate which bushing is making the noise, just spray one or two each time and drive car. If not, just spray them all. Down side of this, the silicone won't last but for a few weeks.

Thanks Woodstock! I'm not real "tuner" savy so I don't really know what that info tells me. Is the bottom line showing revolutions before injectors pulse?
I need to do some reading to be able to understand it more.

Thanks

OK, that was about what I thought! I'll just start looking around for someone to possibly tweak my chip. Or I'll just get over it and move on to other things.
But that car sure does fire up good with a small shot of starting fluid into the vacuum line!
Still curious on why it even has this delay.
I can understand the reason with a "distributorless" ignition system, being the crank sensor and cam sensor needing to talk to each other.

Thanks
Joel

Many opinions on this subject, I have always had good luck with that Nu-Finish polish. If the sap hasn't turned "rock hard" yet, it should come off fairly easy with a good polish. Then a good heavy coat of wax.

First let me clarify "long crank", it takes my 89 about 5-6 revolutions of cranking before it starts.

Now lets assume that everything that affects the engine starting is good: fuel pump, fuel pressure, injectors, plugs, etc. I have read several times in different places the 89 (possibly other models) have a designed delayed start. IIRC it was an injector pulse delay until the engine turned over a specified number of times. Is this true or just another myth?

Mine has always done this. It spins fast and always starts, but that little extra cranking has been a thorn in my azz. The other cars I have ALL crank the instant the switch is turned to "start".

Thanks
Joel

Good morning! Yea, I can relate to the "dentist fear". I usually ask for the gas while still in the waiting room.

Looks like a few dry days around here, lots of outside work to catch up on.
Need to get to the tag office and donate a few hundred bucks to them first.

Have a good day

Good morning! Thought I'd drop by and say hello. Just been so busy with B.S. the last few weeks, nothing major just lots of little things.
Sounds like a lot has been going on with you guys! I've got a trip to Chicago in a few weeks to visit my daughter, so I need to get some new tires on the ole' family style Buick. I really hate to buy tires, it takes me weeks to decide. Thinking about trying some Mastercraft, made by Cooper.

Good morning! Well, got the Delta back together last night. All's good so far. I'm going to be cutting grass, clipping bushes, and do some leaf raking today. Yard's looking a little rough with all the rain from last week. Sun is out and temps are good, so it's a good day to be outside.

Have a good day,

Good morning! First off let me just say for you guys in the southeast area, I'm the one to blame for this cold snap the last few days. Started working on a old Delta that my son is still driving, had to replace intake gaskets. Took it apart Sat., sunshine and about 70*. Didn't get back to it untill Monday, about 40* with spits of snow and drizzle last two days. And of course it's in the back yard!

Have a good day

There will several different sizes for the lines, I always keep a lot of spare vacuum and fuel line in my junk shed. Depending on the location of the nearest parts store, you might have to just remove some and check the ID and make a list.
One tip I would like to be sure you know about. Those plastic fittings are very brittle. And they will break! Prior to removal, use a razor knife and cut the line so you can "peel" the line away instead of trying to pull it off.

Harbor Freight sells a set of security bits for around 6$. Just depends on how much you're going to use them, for me it's not very often so the price was good.

With that said, good morning to all the other guys.

Good morning! Looks like we have some rain headed this way later today. Mabey 2-3 inches which is good. Sure would like to be able to wash a car in my drive way again someday. Had the GE repairman out this morning to check out the washing machine, still in warranty. All he had to do was unplug it to reset the "computer". These new-fangled devices still pizz me off! Evidently their definition of a "super load" and my definition is a lot different.

OK, I checked out the BBQ joint. Pretty good, would go back again. It's not far off 316. Coming from the Agusta area, just turn on Highway 20 to the right. Go about a mile and follow Highway 24 to the right. It's about 3 miles from there.

That is a cool looking toy! I had a similar "design" back in the late 60's. It was a "Cushman" that was used for in-town deliveries. Steering was car type, and not as much power but fun. It would make your butt tighten up a little around a curve, and had a top speed of about 45 mph.

I have had this happen, not on my Vette but another GM car. It was the "vapor filter" in the canister. It was clogged with dirt and debris and just filthy. I washed it with Purple Power and let dry. But could be the purge valve also.
