Best Buy had a big sale last week.

Been waiting since the blue gun on my old TV went out.
Sick of looking at GREEN oceans!

bought a 42in 1080p HD for $400
and a 19in 720p HD for $200 my mother.

all I have to say is once you've gone HD everything else looks like cr@p!

Oh yea. But, my cable has half the channels (the ones I want to watch) still in 480. At least they are slowly changing over.

$400 is a real good price. I paid $650 for a 32 two years ago.

Indeed. And SD on an HDTV is impossible to watch. I hope you have a decent selection of HD channels.

42" for $400? Crikey! That's a steal!

Wow, $400 is a great price. And you're right, if you watch something on ABC for example in HD and then flip back to the standard channel (7-1 vs 7 for us) the difference is amazing.

I bought EDTV years ago. Paid big for it too. I didn't want to upgrade all my other stuff to HD. I have 400+ movies on VHS and DVD not in an HD format. Just like all the other elecronic improvements, you have to upgrade everything else to go with it. That's why I'm just not "with it" man.

TV stations did the upgrade for me. :D

I get 22 stations on broadcast.

I watch too much TV as is, so I didn't bother with cable

All the local channel broadcast in 1080i,

except for Fox, 720p

Coolio! We have a few HDTV's, and have been looking at the new LED TV's, waiting for the price to come down a bit.

Yeah, regular cable looks worse on a HD LCD than it does on an old tube tv!

So what's the scoop on these new LED tvs?

Just go the BestBuy.com

Looks like the price has already gone back up some.

If you like to watch sports, I'd spend a little more on the higher Hz rating.

I don't know a whole lot about the LED, but my buddy has a 52" Samsung, I think it is... That damn thing is less than two inches thick. It is a shame that the TV is up against a wall. It is incredible to look at from the side. It's like a freakin' 52" laptop monitor!

Power consumption is supposed to be less, but I don't know if the extra cost of the set is worth it yet.

Picture is insanely great at times, but we were watching the Nicolas Cage flick "Knowing" and there were times where half of his face was... twitching or something. Like the scan wasn't right on part of the screen. I dunno what the hell that was. But it was annoying.

I have a Sanyo that we bought three years ago. 42" for about $1,100. It has worked beautifully. But at 4" thick, it is a fat, fat fatty. It's a 1080, but cannot remember if it is i or p. Whichever was cheaper.

We gave my daughter our 17" Polaroid HD for college. So we are thinking about replacing it with a 25". But no money for that this week.

We bought a Samsung DLP several years ago (720) it has a pretty darn good picture. Had to replace the bulb once and recently the color wheel. But it keeps hanging in there. I bought a 32" Soyo for the basement about two years ago and last Christmas the youngest daughter wanted a new TV so we gave her the Soyo (she and her hubby were thrilled). Then in January I ran across a 42" LCD 1080i for $499 delivered, I went ahead and bought the 3 year extended warranty for $89. I love the HD channels.

Can not believe how cheap the HD's are, bought a Sony Bravio 1080 120 hz. Guys honestly you can see nose hairs in actor/local news people. Football games great, you can read the coach lips so easy. Since Notre Dame is only 15 minutes away Coach Charlie Weiss is hugh... I'm talking goodyear blimp huge on HD. God I Love Technology :thumbright:

What's EDTV? You couldn't afford viagra so you just bought some asian porn instead hoping it would do the same thing?
