right now my trucks covered in salt

I'd like to wash it all off, but I've been waiting for the temps to climb about freezing even though I'd use a car wash.

don't want to be driving an ice berg afterwards

make sense or not?

You might as well wait. What is in your forecast?

It's fine to wash a vehicle in the cold. It's freezing around here for months and it's very common to wash the salt off in car washes.

I usually wait until it's around 28* or higher. If you wash a car when it's near freezing, even if it's below, the radiant energy of the sun will usually warm the car enough to keep the locks from icing.

If it's very cold, or if you wash later in the day, you're asking for iced locks.

I used to spritz some WD40 in the locks before winter but I've been to busy to take care of all the cars here now. There have been zero problems with frozen locks.

I have a heated garage but floor drains are illegal around here.

I washed my truck on Sunday to get the crap off of it. Temp was about 15-20 outside and by the time the car left the heated dryer in the wash the water left on the mirrors was frozen. I've never had a problem.

Used 4 buckets of water to wash my truck today. I got a long handled brush I use for washing. Water spigot is turned off, plus the hose reel is in the garage, and it's frozen.

It was 27 degrees when I did it.
Bottom of the driveway is now a skating rink.

Temps approaching 35 tomorrow. Going to do the wife's family truckster tomorrow.
