Bought a new DD today. It's a 2000 Grand Prix GTP with 57K on the clock. It's a one owner car, and rock stock. I'm looking forward to dinking with the pulley size on the blower, some exhaust mods, and maybe a little shot of giggle gas.

They are supposed to run mid 14's stock, I should have some baseline numbers by next weekend.

A friend of mine had one, used it for busines. He put 150k on it, highway miles.

He did have an engine fire though at 150k. You may want to check TSBs and recalls.

I had a 99 as a company car (not supered). Really liked it.

Looks nice! Just be careful and keep an eye in the intake manifold gasket.

That engine goes way back. The Buick V6, Smokey Yunick's baby. Course it's turned sideways now. Had one in my '80 Regal.

Josh: I have one! Runs great! My daughter has had for 4 years now with 170k on it. Never had a problem with it. Daughter has had problems with it...2 speeding tickets. I have always used Mobil 1 in it, they run a little hot on hot humid days. I noticed the trans fluid also runs hot! I added a trans cooler and Mobil 1 ATF. Have fun with it. Hard to believe Pontiac is no longer with us.

Don't go too crazy on the power upgrades, or you will end up with a box of neutrals.

They are nice cars and will go the miles... and miles... and miles... Kpotter had an 87 Olds Delta 88... unloaded it with some 200k miles on it. Still ran great!

The Olds had 90k on it when I bought it and 230k on it when I unloaded it. Unfortunately I did not maintain it well and it started the old nickel and dime you to death routine. Never anything major, Starter, Fuel Pump, etc. I didn't have the time or room to work on it so away she went. The 3.8 V6 is a great little motor. My '03 Impala has 114k and is going strong. (I do maintain this one)

WE have the Supercharged Bonneville (03) and these cars are just pretty peppy. We have about 77K on it now and (knock on wood) we haven't had any issues with it at all. I love the car. We have owned 4 Bonnevilles and I love them....it is sad to think that Pontiac isn't with us any more. I was looking forward to purchasing a G8 GT with the LS2 in it.....if we do it now it'll have to be a used one I guess.

My aunt had the same thing, and it suffered from the intake gasket issue.

Nice times on the 1/4 for a DD!

There's a couple more tenths in it the way it sits. It still had some of my work stuff in it (probably 40 lbs. of files and misc. junk), the jack, spare, etc...

I also didn't check the tire pressure at all. I finally got around to checking it today and all of them were down to about 20 PSI. Pumping up the back tires 45 or so should yield some gains I think.

A friend of mine has an 02 BMW 330 as a daily driver. He went 14.21 a couple weeks ago, so that's the bogey. I don't think I'll get there without some small mods, but I bet I can get the thing to go 14.3 the way it sits if I take the extra weight out and adjust the tire pressure.

The shitty thing is that I can't really do much to it without being able to tune the computer. HP tuners is $500 damn dollars, which is not something I want to spend dinking around with my daily driver for shits and giggles. $75 for a pulley, maybe $100 for some aftermarket exhaust, home made cold air intake, etc... Stuff like that, that's more along the lines of what I was thinking, but my research indicates that tuning is pretty vital once you start to make changes of any kind. At the very least, you need to be able to scan the car for timing retard.

Who knows, maybe I'll leave the thing alone.
