Almost every Friday night, my friend Jim and I and sometimes my wife go down the street to a little wine shop near the water front in North Beach, MD. Its really a nice little town less than two miles from my house, and the wine shop has a wine tasting and food every Friday night.

Anyhow, last night; Jim, my wife Kathie and I went down there and as always struck up conversation with many new people. The night moved on and conversations began to get more lubricated, if you know what I mean. I noticed my wife had been talking to a group of women for some time, so I meandered over there and she introduced me to the group. It just happens that one of the gals had just talked her dad into buying a new Corvette. He had recently retired and was going to buy a new car, but was afraid the Corvette wasn't conservative enough for him but with a little coaxing from his daughter he obliged and bought the Vette. With this knowledge, I began talking to her to find out more information about her dad, where he lived and if he was interested in Corvette club activities etc... and I told her about our club and that I knew many people from the corvette community in our area.

As I was discussing all of this, Jim came up and jumped into the conversation as he is a single guy and always looking to meet new ladies.
Oh, yeah --- he also has a beautiful black 2010 Z06 parked in front of the wine store... After they discovered Jim owned the black corvette in front of the store, all the ladies had to go sit in his car. It was too funny! I have never seen so many adult women (30s-50s) get all flustered over a car before. My wife was standing there with her jaw hanging because she sees so many Corvettes it makes her green. LOL
All the women took turns getting in the car and starting it up and revving the engine. They were then taking pictures of each other and sending them to other friends... I guess they must not get out much, but it was really a gas and we had a lot of fun with them. They all wanted our business cards and said they would be back in touch! Oh my God ... too much fun!!!

I thought I had posted a photo of Jim's car before, but can't seem to find it. He had a red 2007 Z06, and just traded that one in on the new one. It is very sweet car. Amazing how they sound factory stock.

To women, cars often signify the high cost of ownership. If he can afford a high cost car he might just be a candidate for a high maintenance woman. There are some women that are different. They can appreciate a fine piece of machinery when they see one.

When women see mine they think, "Look at the geezer getting into that filthy black Corvette!" I really need to give it a bath this weekend.

LOL -- Yeah, they asked me what year corvette I owned and when I said 1994, they kind of just said, "oh that's nice"
But lets go sit in the "NEW" one! Women!

It'd be more fun if you could get the women to give you a bath.

I posted something over at CF a bunch of years back that I don't think many ppl grasped.

The title was like this: "Corvettes are a "mans" car"

It was the retelling of an encounter with a friend and her then rather new boy friend.

I was in my Vette. He was so intimidated by me and my Vette, she was fine with the car, but he was seriously threatened. I am sure she got an earful later!

My point was that it takes a special kind of person, male or female, to own a Corvette. That person must have a certian strength of character to deal with the rest of the world that doesn't understand the car.

You have no idea the number of ppl who seem to think it costs soooo much and that you need some uber thick wallet to care for a Vette. It simply isn't true. Good financial management and proper part selection will keep the costs no worse than a Camaro!

Unless your wife finds out, then it's a very UNhappy ending.

Till all your seals start leaking and then your trans goes out, along with your opti - but then hey - after 14 years and a quarter million miles, you should EXPECT it.
not an easy pill to swallow, but I really enjoy my '96.
I give her a pat on the head and a smack on the hiney every day

It's really neat to me when I see a small kid like recently this little boy about 5 or 6 was with his dad and I parked at the store as they were walking in. The kid tugs on his dad's arm and says "look dad - a corvette!!!".
Made me smile the rest of the afternoon.

It's also funny on another note, to correlate what you guys say about 'women and corvettes and their impressions'... when I'm driving sometimes I find this little car creeping up beside me or at the stop light and this chick will start to primp and smile - UNTIL she sees another woman there!
Cracks me up every time!

LOL That's what they think of me especially when I wear a few big gold chains around my neck and keep my shirt open to the waist. I think my wife is mildly turned on by it.... but I could be wrong.

I ask my wife "back in the day" when we were dating in high school were you impressed with my 58 vette? Her response "that was a Vette"? Then it started! you spent more time with your vette than you did with me, do you know how it felt to be second best to a car? Then she said,"I loved you both" Cool!

I'm old fat and bald. At this point, my old Corvette is much more atheletic than I am.

The only person my Corvette charms is me.

I washed the Vette yesterday and gave it a quick wax. Today the women are so blinded by the shine that they have to squint to see the geezer inside.
