i currently have vista as my os on my laptop and let me tell you how much i absolutely love it. especially all the problems its given me with tuning my car. i was wonder who has windows 7 and how well does it work with other programs? my biggest issue is that even with vista in compatibility mode it still won't allow my jet dynamic tuning program work properly. i don't want to buy a new tuning program and would rather ditch vista. don't know if i should go up to 7 or to xp. any input?

To be honest, Win7 is a HUGE improvement. But I don't yet know how well the XP mode works.

If it was me, and tuning was the key, go back to XP.

I'm not sure about car apps, but I have Win 7 Ultimate at the new job and I HATE it. I hate pc's period but for design stuff like photoshop there's just simply stuff you can't do. And even with 12GB ram, it hangs up and you can't do more than one or two things at a time.

Don't know about running in compatibility mode, but I would agree that it is a huge improvement over Vista. Also have to agree with VB on PC's limitations working with media files.

Unless you're running 64-bit apps, any given application isn't going to be able to take advantage of all that extra memory. I'm running Windows 7 on a couple of machines, and haven't had any particular problems - I just find some features kind of annoying.

I run 7 on an older laptop - not too bad overall.

The Micro$oft XP mode program sucks (unless you have all the accelerator hardware they want), but can get around that by downling the XP mode from Mocro$oft and using VMplayer (which is free).

I do assorted things on it - seems to work a lot better than Vista.

I have a couple of games that will only run in XP, others that will run in either - so it's a hit an miss on the compatibility stuff....

I have XP and I don't want to upgrade. I'll see how long I can hold out.

Actually iI've not seen Dell on it anywhere. They bought a case then put stuff in it. It was custom built for what we do at the business. I still hate the dang thing. I have CS4 also in 64-bit, still hate it. It's a very fast machine and does all that, I just hate Windows and I hate PCs.... at least for what I do. Guess it's all in what you're used to.... Chevy or Ford...
The monitors however, I've never heard of those... HannsG 28"

HannG isn't a bad monitor, I prefer ViewSonic.

The case is a good one. It's really designed as a gaming case.

If you are crashing a lot, there is more to it than CS4 and Windows. I would think you will be wise to check for a BIOS flash upgrade.

I have seen that frequently with Vista... if the BIOS isn't fresh, well... bad things happen.

I agree with Matt. I have XP and have no desire to downgrade to a newer system.

I bought a HannG monitor for a friends computer, it died less than a year old, when I contacted HannG for service info they replied once and when I told them the problem they wouldn't answer my emails or phone calls again. I'll never buy another HannG product.
