Good Morning CGs!

Well, I'm driving a loaner car today. Yup, the Xterra went back to the dealership for the THIRD time on the same recall. Fuel sending unit / gas gauge problem. Now while driving, the gauge will go from 1/2 full to empty. No rhyme or reason. I took it to a different dealership than the last time. Service writer is a good friend of my cousin. He told me he has 8 others on the lot with the same problem and he called Nissan directly. They don't believe that all of this can be occurring so they are sending one of their factory techs to check it out. Weird, huh? Anyway, the loaner car is a Nissan Cube. Kind of weird looking, but really spacious and nice inside. Gets great gas mileage, too. For some reason, I feel like a teenager driving it, though.

No other news on the vette, waiting for some parts to come in

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

What a difference a year makes. Last year around this time we had rescued our son from his economic collapse in Jacksonville where he was unable to secure any gainful employment and had run a up a huge credit card debt trying to stay alive. He picked up a part time job here at Staples last August and started a full time job with Carnival Cruise Lines in November. He still works both jobs and usually works around 54 hours a week. He has been paying down his credit card debt and has built up a nice reserve for the short time he's been back to work. Of course we did our fatherly and motherly prodding but his recent successes are all on his own. I'm glad for him. I'm proud of him. We watched him go from the edge of despair to a happy self confident young man with direction, purpose and a few extra bucks in his pocket. So all I want to say is "Kudos" kid. I hope you stay on a lit path to a bright future.

Great news Tommy. I remember when you went to get him. That year did fly by fast.
Unfortunately at the Kane house, it is the 1 year anniversary of my mother in laws death. The wifey is pretty torn up this morning. MIL only made it to 58. They had 40 good years together though. My mom only made it to 48, so I know where she is coming from.
I have the day off, so I think I will take my father in law to lunch.

Wow, that is tragic for both you and your wife to lose your mothers at such a young age, Pete - very tough.

Congrats about your son, Tommy - that is excellent progress, and he should be proud.

AutoWeek recently got a Cube for long-term testing, and they seem to like it pretty well. I see it as "so ugly it's cute" design, but I imagine it is pretty practical.

Gotta get packed up tonight for the long trip to Manila tomorrow - yuk.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning Gurus!

Great Story Tommy! Its a pleasure to read about such events in people's lives.

Pete - My wife lost her Mom, Dad and best Girlfriend in a 2 1/2 year period. She still has some rough days. Says she feels so alone. I can't fathom the loss of a parent, as I hold mine dear to me, and still don't get to spend enough time with them. I hope your wife has a better day. Give her some extra hugs.

Matt -- What year Xterra? I have an '03 whihch I've had no problems with yet. It has about 95,000 miles on it. It's the Supercharged version and I'm getting a little concerned about things like supercharger belt and other maintenance items that might start going south after 100k miles.

Good morning guys. Tommy, just goes to show that things can turn around pretty quickly. I have hopes that we might see a similar turn around for our daughter and her three boys. Having them in the house has been quite a change for us, but we do what we got to do. Pete, losing a parent isn't easy at any age, but that young is too young. Mine departed less than two years apart 79 and 81, still wasn't easy. Brad be safe over there, and enjoy the trip the best you can.

I'm headed out to hang those cabinets this morning. I hope to have them done by noon. All three grandsons have baseball games tonight, so we'll be busy hitting those. Not much planned other than that. You guys (and gals) have a great day.

Ha, my Silverado's done that ever since I've had it. Goes to empty when you fill up. It's on empty every morning until you back out of the driveway.
I'm just too lazy to drop the tank (and it's easy on this truck).

Tommy

Condolences to you guys who have lost loved ones. I almost never reply to these posts. Be happy for the time you had with them, not sad. I lost my dad when I was 7, and 10 years ago, a hospital let Legionnaires Disease take my mom.
Be happy for what you had.

Good afternoon guys. Electrical inspection yesterday was approved and it looks like the Notre Dame Prof. will buy the house. Neat guy! British car nut, has a Mini Cooper, and a Sunbeam Tiger, and a MGBGT in parts. His wfe drives an H2 Hummer.
Tommy your son sounds like he's on his way to success.
Its tough to read about a parents dealth especially at a young age. My wife's mother was diagnosed with cancer 3 days after she retired from teaching at 60.
Finally I get a chance to take the 87 out tonight and just drive. Put the top down and go to Lake Michigan and drive the coast line.
Two more weeks of teaching the Vocational Welding Class and the rest of the summer is mine.
Have a great day!!

Wow, Pete, hope you had the day turn out well for you.

Bill - the problem is the gauge worked *before* the recall and was broken after. Dealer called and said they diagnosed the problem (on the 7-8 on the lot) and he will explain it to me tomorrow, they need another day.

Don - it affects the 06-07, mine's an 06.

Bill - motor is running! I am ready for the first break in oil change this weekend along with resetting the base idle slightly lower. Sounds pretty mean I ordered a new datalogging cable and I've got a different laptop on the way to work out my connection issues. I'm afraid to drive it before that because I want to monitor my fuel tables. I also ordered a new racetronix fuel pump kit, but looks like it won't be here until the 22nd

Yea they put the Alt. on the 3.0 next to the rear cat. so there is alot of heat back there.. so to help with that they put a plastic shroud with an air duct on it... postioned the inlet near the belt. makes alot of sense but there is not really much room to fit it anywhere else.. not tomention no room to remove the damm thing.. the RF axel shaft must be removed.. it's nuts...
