Good Morning CGs!

Was a long late night for me again yesterday. My wife decided she wanted to go to the local rib fest (it's a huge event) the next town over. So we went, ate a bit, went on some rides with Samantha, played some carnival games, etc. Baby had a good time, so did we. Didn't get home til about 10:30 and we were both wiped out! So it's off to work now. The alarm was not my friend this morning.

On a positive note I drove the vette to work yesterday and I'll be doing it again today Sounds like that annoying exhaust tick from the collector gasket has resurfaced, although not as bad. I'll be putting the new Mr. Gasket collector gaskets on later to see if that fixes it. I want to order a tpis air pump eliminator, too, since my pump is squeaking and annoying, I just don't want to pay their outrageous price for it

All in all July has been pretty good so far

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Wife is gonna wear me out. Several days to go. She's a friggin tornado. Mr Mello is being seriously compromised. I guess that's to be expected when your used to riding solo during the day then you have company 24/7. Everything I do has to be analyzed. Nurse is coming over in a while to remove the bandages. My wife wants to go to her cousins BBQ this afternoon. My routine is no longer routine. I'm hearing my name called way more than I'm used to. A morning toast ...... to go with my whine.

Watching Hot Rod tv and Muscle Car flipping back and forth between Speed Channel and Spike TV. My wife informed me that we are going to a adminisrative cook out today at the university she is now a professor of education. I know I'll be asked about the educational journals I read! Does Hot Rod count! or Corvette mags or Guns and Ammo or Swat! I'll fit in like a turd in the punch bowl. They are ok! but are in a different world. Last year I thought I was making head way with this group, they became very friendly when they thought I was in a group that was involved with saving seals. I tried to explain that I was an x SEAL but decided to leave well enough alone. One of the "save the planet" profs wanted me to be a guest speaker on our effort to save seals. He didn't get it! Have a great day guys.

Morning guys...my wife and daughter, husband and three kids were up early and went to the local 4th of July fun run/walk. They are all back already and now preparing to go to the parade. Me....I've sat in front of this computer, done the email, checked craigslist and now responding to you guys.

BTW found a 90 coupe with blown head gasket for $3000. Is that a good price? The rest looks pretty good, red/red sport seats 6 speed. Also found a 72 coupe needs work for $10k or best offer.

I could easily spend more money than I have on cars. Have a great day.

Tom the 90 sounds like a good price. Head gasket sounds like a weekend project. 72 sounds interesting. Hows the body?

BTW purchased an Acer laptop. My beautiful wife now has it! Cool!
I can relate Money vs Cars thing!

Saving a SEAL is some serious business. Hate to be the poor mofo that messed with the SEAL in the first place.

Ron saving the seals - LMAO!!

Not sure what is on the agenda besides lawn-mowing and projectile sweating. Will be shopping for brake pads as mine are squeaking already after 15K miles - not happy about that at all.

The red '90 sounds like a decent deal to me if the rest of the car is in good shape.

Brad, What brand of pads?
Check to make sure the anti-rattle clips are there.
Could be excessive brake dust.
Try bedding the pads in.
There's also anti-squeal silicon that can be put on the back of the pads.

They're Hawk ceramics - I bedded them when I installed them.. The squeaking sounds like when the wear bars are hitting the discs - I haven't had a chance to inspect them yet.

Just returned from cook-out (see post from this morning). University President was talking to a group of profs about their mission in the Congo. Started getting pumped up! I'm in.. It was missionary work! Never mind!! Cook out went well. My wife rec. an award for her work with student teachers. Sure were a lot of small fuel efficient cars there. 4 smart cars and the big dogs 7 Prius'sssss and a few civics. Talked to few priest about their back in the day cars. One had a 67 Ford Van I'm thinking All right father I bet you got.. never mind! Cool group, hard to relate to. One prof. worked in the steel mills in Gary, Indiana the same plant I worked in. He was a time keeper, never was in the mill area.

Brad have you checked the rotors? I tried a set of Hawks on my truck. They generated alot of heat and wrapped a rotor causing pulsating and squeaking after 10k. Replaced them with Raybestos.

check them soon, those wear bars are not kind to the rotors surface.

Stopped by the hardware store to see if they had more of the tap I needed. Sure enough they did as promised.

Time to chase the threads and get everything torqued down.

Respectfully Ron, I question that. Especially the warped rotor.
I've gone thru 40+ sets of Hawks, many different compounds, with zero problems.

Not a problem Bill! I had one warped rotor driver side. So bad I couldn't turn it. You could tell the heat by the uneven wear and rotor distortion. Carrying heavy loads plus trailer. While I was into it might as well replace rotors and Raybestos brakes. 20k later no problems. Could have been many things. Its a work truck what can I say. After saying all this I have Hawks on the 87 vette with drilled and slotted rotors.
