My halo covers had some damage, so I purchased a used right side and repaired the left. There is no filler that adheres well to polypropylene so I had to pop-rivet some sheet metal for backing and cross my fingers with the epoxy. Paint would not have produced the desired result, so I covered with ultra leather using spray adhesive. Turned out even better than hoped for.

Looks great, Joe.

Want to share some info on ultra leather? Never heard of it.
Looks very nice, easy to conform.

It's not a product from Ultraman is it?

Thanks. It feels like glove leather. Used for upholstery. About a mm thick. The thin fabric backing gives it a little stretch lengthwise but not across the width. 3M high strength spray adhesive, coat both surfaces, kind of tricky, (once it's grabs, that's it) but I have a lot of experience with contact adhesives. Here's where I bought it.

I'm thinking I should be getting some type of royalty from it, bit I'm still trying to figure out what a halo cover is! It looks good, nice work!

Joe, Do you think that would stretch over the corners of the console lid?

Definitely. I tried with a scrap on a similarly shaped corner.
Here's a detail of the inside.

I might have to get some to play with. I was thinking about getting a cover when I order a shift boot from Redline but think that the ultraleather glued down may be better.

Suggestion - when you put it back together, use stainless steel screws. It will look sweet against the black leather.

After a near disaster on the left hand side, I managed to cover four pieces. I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

That does look really good.

Are you using regular 3M spray adhesive?

I used the "hi-strength 90". Coat both sides, heavier on the fabric to allow for absorbtion. I held the pieces upside down while covering and started from the end to minimize the risk of accidental contact.
I scrubbed the pieces in a TSP solution to clean.
Lightly sand, then I wiped them with some ketone which actually started to soften the surface. Whether that helped with adhesion or not, on an experimental piece, when I pulled the ultra leather off, some of the poly actually pulled off with it. It's a permanent bond, I believe.

I can't figure out their pricing. How much does $66 buy?

Could this stuff be used to cover door panels? (IOW how much curve stretch is present?)

Do you use a hair dryer or heat gun to stretch/mold?

Looks to me like it would be for a yard but looking around, the prices are all over the place. One marine shop wants $88 plus a 5 yard min.

A good color chart.
http://www.gulffabrics.com/ultralht.htm

Some good reading:
http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/gsear ... raleather-67590.html#1185

I did a search and didn't come up with any vendors other than Joe's link.
But it's still interesting stuff.

I think it would work well on a door panel.

1 Yard=36X47-54".
I think so. See photos. See posts 4&15.
I didn't use any heat.
The fabric backing is the limiting factor for stretch.
