They are talking democracy, but I think the people would rather have some basic necessities first.

Democracy will never work in a muslim dominated country. It's a nice idea, but the religion does jive with it. With the Muslim Brotherhood (aka, terrorists) trying to take over...watch out.

I've read where the protesters have been very anti American.
I don't understand, isn't our current president the one we've all been waiting for? I thought everyone loved us now, and that he'd heal the earth? I'm just sayin'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=molWTfv8TYw |

If they think they're poor now .... wait till the US turns off the cash flow. Not just the US government either. Good old American dollars.

We must consider Egypt a pretty important ally.
They are second on our foreign aid list behind Israel at $1.5 billion last year (for armaments). |

As I watch this evenings news I can't help but question as to why the media has flocked over to Egypt to report "the story". Come on here. There have been a half dozen of these uprisings in the last year and NONE of these attracted as much attention from the prez or his choir.
Plus the "brotherhood" is now making the evening news. Seems there is more (or less) to the story....... |

They are indeed an important ally in the region. As is Saudi Arabia (which the King of, has to a nats ass away from freaking out right now).
We honestly paid them to stay out of our way with Iraq and Iran.... It's a tough fence Mubarak has had to straddle... Support USA, not piss off the extremist who hate the USA, maintain his power and believe me - nobody get's away clean when you stand for NOTHING but yourself. It's funny when this first started the MSNBC morons all were like "they just want their freedom, and that they don't "hate the USA".... I guess they actually believed that stupid shit.... because fast forward a few days and Anderson Cooper and Christin Amanpour are nearly lynched in the streets of Cairo.... by people shouting "DEATH TO USA" of all things. There is no way out of this. Easy or othewise. We fostered the situation and now the situation is well out of hand. It's going to be whatever it is going to be and you can be 100% assured it's going to be bad for our interest. The "Brotherhood" is poised to take the reigns. They are the only group with the man power and resources in Egypt to oppose the current administration. You can tell it is a done deal because the US media and the White House are trying to down play the extremist within the Brotherhood.... The problem is when the chips are down these extremist are the ones yelling the loudest and the people of Egypt are going to follow their lead. It might take a hot min for the extremist to gain 100% command of the Govt, but eventually they will. Will |

Unfortunately an isolationist approach to world politics is damning. We need as many participants as possible eating capitalist pie to keep our deficit ridden economy flourishing.

You might not care about Egypt or Israel, but there is a balance of power in the Middle East that is very sensitive...the US government helps maintain that balance by supplying arms at various points to different nations....all in the goal of maintaining stable oil prices. Sick, huh? |

You mean that the posters are printed in English? That this whole protest is focused towards their hate of the USA and Israel? That without a dictator they are unable to conduct themselves as human beings? Yeah, Its ironic. |
