I swear I saw a Brand X Hatchback in one of those pics. Also, are your muffler tips single outlet like on mustangs or is that just the camera not catching it real well?

So are blue painter's tape numbers a requirement to be out on the track?

You're required to have a number, most scrounge and borrow some blue masking tape. Others use magnetic numbers, but obviously we can't do that..

yeah, those are nice shots.

Seeing the blue tape reminds me of the old days. For years I used the numbers 11, 17, 71, etc. because they take less time to tape up...I was 71 for so long that I adopted it, then NASA made us use 3 numbers so I just added a 2.

So now that you're banned from CF, you have to repost the link to the video here. I never did watch the whole thing to see the spin at the end. I just read about it.

That had to be a lot of fun. I've never had mine on anything larger than an auto-X course yet.

You should, you're in racecar heaven. No, I'm not talking about NASCAR...you're close to VIR, Road Atlanta, Carolina Motorsports Park, etc...

I'm jealous, although we do have a pretty good smattering of world class tracks up here in the North.

I've been to VIR as a spectator a few years back. It was a vintage sports car weekend and quite enjoyable. It's a beautiful facility and an excellent place to spend a weekend, no matter what. If things go well, perhaps I can do a HPDE this year somewhere in my area, where there are no shortage of opportunities, as you state. If you ever travel to my neck of the woods, simply give me a little notice and I'll do what I can to help you out visiting any facilities. VIR is not so far. Neither is Rockingham, Atlanta (and certainly not Charlotte) or any other number of places.
I moved to this area 20 years ago because of the racing and car culture in general. I've yet to regret it.

VIR has been on the agenda for a few years, but I still haven't made it happen. Thought about doing an early NASA event there this year as your season starts about a month sooner than ours, but it's unlikely that the car will be ready. Once summer gets rolling I'm pretty full with tracks up here, which of course makes it tough.

Regardless, when I finally get my ass down there I will definately let you know...I have some C6 Z06 laptimes to shatter.

I've been threatening to get my ass out there, hopefully it'll be this year. I need to get some $$$$ together for tires and stuff first. Let me know if I can ride along next time you go, I'd sure like to get the feel of it.

As long as your tires aren't really old I wouldn't fret about it. You don't need tread depth, you need stiction.

I think I'll be heading there in April for the full infield course. I don't have the schedule handy.

Is your car ready otherwise? Where are you located? I have to fix some perpetual power steering issues, but other than that I'm good to go. Car was blowing PS fluid all over the place last trip out.

Central Coaster,

Looks awesome! Makes me want to get out there myself.

I want to autocross so bad I can taste it, but that track looks even more fun than autocross.

Pictures are great too!

Brake pads, what kind, both front & rear?, SS brake lines, fluid type? alignment? Oh, and I have an automatic,?

I'm slow. Car has been sitting neglected for weeks but I finally got some work done today.

I took half the accessories off to get the damn camberbrace and other cooler out of there. LT1 cooler is mounted up. Now I'm just waiting for tubing bender to be delivered and I'll bend the pipes right and get my hoses on and reassemble. No rush.

Camberbrace will be up for sale soon.

Give it a try, I did but it didn't do much for me. $50 to spend all day in a parking lot, an hour shagging cones, and 5 minutes of frustrating wheel time. No thanks, $200 for 100 minutes of track time is more my style.

I'd start with some Hawk HPS. It's a good compromise for 99% street use and 1% track use. Ceramics won't grip as good, and oem pads will fade sooner. If the rotors looked chewed up, get them turned down at Pep Boys for $8 each. If you change either, bed the brakes in.

Change out all your fluids, ATF, PS, brakes, coolant for the hell of it. Screw SS brake lines. If your stock ones are cracked, then replace them with rubber. SS is overrated in my book. A street alignment will work fine, but zero toe and more negative camber will benefit you. I use Wilwood 570*F brake fluid, but any name brand fresh DOT3 compatible fluid will work for you. Stay away from silicone fluid.

Your goal the first trip out isn't to set any records. It's more of a test of the car, your nerves, and a humbling realization that you suck at driving and need practice. Oh and it's about the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Looks like a great time...

I'm afraid to try it. If I do I bet I'll be addicted.
Then I'd have to join a support group, start taking prescription drugs.....
