Yep .... It's Friday the 13th. No big deal to me. I don't need any special day for bad shit to happen. I can just as easily have a rough day on Wednesday the 23rd. Mojo to everyone just in case.

Good Morning CGs!

Tommy, I didn't realize it was that day until you mentioned it. Eh.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th

I figured it was based on some 900 year old pagan ritual like many other weird holidays/superstitions...nope, this one is just dumb.

Well, success.....the concrete is poured! It got pushed back a few hours (like every job with my neighbor, because he's always so busy with his *own* work, so I caaaaaan't complain). I started by moving 30 bags of 60 lb concrete into the back yard. Holy crap that was tough. Halfway through we realized that wasn't enough and I had to run to Menard's and buy another 20 bags. So I moved 3000 lbs of concrete yesterday! I was the "labor" in the skilled labor part of concrete. We mixed it in a wheelbarrow three bags at a time and poured it while he set it up and smoothed it. Took about 3-4 hours. I thought we were done at 8 pm, but he informed me we had to wait for the top to cure so he could do the edges and smooth then brush the top. So that wasn't done until 11:00 last night! After we poured it, though, my wife made us dinner....then his wife made us dinner. Ha. Can't piss off either one so we ate both. But we were starving after all the manual labor, so it was ok. And I am happy as a clam that it's done.

Of course, once I got finished, the baby had been up and crying for 2 hours. He's got a cold/flu of some type and he's miserable. I took him downstairs and rocked with him a bit, the only way he'd stop crying was being held up. Fed him some milk and he was finally ready for sleep around midnight. So that's when daddy went to sleep, too. Got up this morning and had to untarp the concrete (was supposed to rain) and move the car seats, do a few other little chores. I'm ready to go, though! I hope I don't crash and burn later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Bubba had shingles.
Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate this! Doesn't it seem more and more that physicians are running their practices like an assembly line?
Here's what happened to Bubba:

Bubba walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Bubba said: 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.

Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Bubba what he had...
Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told Bubba to wait in the examining room.

A half hour later a nurse came in and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles..' So the nurse gave Bubba a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told Bubba to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.

An hour later the doctor came in and found Bubba sitting patiently in the nude and asked Bubba what he had.

Bubba said, 'Shingles.' The doctor asked, 'Where?'
Bubba said, 'Outside on the truck. Where do you want me to unload 'em??'

Happy Friday! Wicked footage, Tommy - amazing how quickly those things happen. Jeez, Matt, I'm exhausted after reading your post :-P

It's a nice, crisp fall day here. Too bad it's spring. The forecast for tomorrow's cruise doesn't look promising - 52 and rainy. Not exactly ideal Corvette weather.

Have a good day, everybody!

Good morning Guru's! Matt out here that is what we call "right neighberly of you" to help him with the concrete. That's a big job! You are also a good Dad, and all that deserves the much coveted, Atta Boy! Keep up the good work!

Tommy thanks I could have gone all day with out knowing that. Brad, I was too busy drawing Corvettes with big slicks and Hurst shifters during science class to take time to come up with cures for sickness. Kudos to that kid and sometimes it takes those who don't know that they can't do something to get it done.

Wet cold rainy so looks like the Ag industry is shut down for the weekend at least around here. That's ok got plenty to do in the office.

Enjoy your day Guru's, do something fun today!

I had the car out last night. Its been pretty nice although they say its going to rain everyday. What other job can you be so wrong at, but not get fired. My car seemed to develop a miss in the last segment of my drive. I took it out this morning and it did fine.

Good morning guys....even though I don't have many seniors, it's quiet around here this morning...who knows why. Jeff, look at it this way, Things can only look up from there. It never got above 60 yesterday, yea felt like fall, Brad. Today is supposed to be a little warmer, but doesn't feel like it just yet.

One week left with the remaining students and then another year in the books. I'll go another year, getting two pay checks a month isn't too bad. Trying to put most of one away, living off the other one. But with one daughter and three boys living with us and another in the process of separating from her husband, moving to a new house and needing furniture and help moving and what not, I just don't know how far I;m getting. Like Tommy, if I really retire, I'm afraid that I'll be more busy.

I hope everyone here has a great day.

Good Morning Gurus!

T minus seven days. Excited, happy, nervous and sad. I hope I am good company for the MO crew!

I get to pick up a big check (well, medium sized) today that will get me home to PA and then some. Thank goodness!

I know that many of you other members have had some really, really rough patches here lately so I'm not crying about my week. It's just been one of those weeks at work were if something can go rediculously wrong it has and 98% of it has been the idiots that I work with. Top that off with the Vette engine situation and I am without a doubt stopping at the liquor store on the way home tonight.

Oh and it's supposed to rain here until Wednesday! We might end up with flooding like some of our other southern folks.

But hell, I'm healthy, wife and kids are doing great so the rest will be forgotten.

Matthew, I would love to have a 16x30 parking pad poured, wanna come help? It is really great of you to help out your neighbor. Hopefully his wife is a decent cook.

I'm beat, been cutting tiles all morning. Cutting them on the deck, in the wind sure gets you covered with that nice clean water from the saw.

I had one complicated cut, broke the tile. I only ordered one spare tile, but it was enough.

Only 6 tiles left to install.

For some reason I never put it together it was Friday the 13th... that explains everything. Both O2 sensors giving codes just days before the trip, they'll keep ... picked up oil and filter and freon and mess to do the car and bout the time I got in the mood the rain came. I gave up, pulled it under the carport, dried in off, got in the truck and went shopping, got hair cut, facial and shoes and ....well you get the idea.... and lo and behold the sun was out and nary 'nuther drop of rain....
But, I picked up a check from a freelance job so that made it all better
Hope everyone had a good day....

Trying to catch up on things here....

Don - just read about your wife, hope she is feeling better!

TB - you should be up for sainthood, really. That's a lot to take on. Oh yeah, and the chairs look great!

Jeff - have a cold one, relax for the weekend, and don't let the little stuff get to you!

Brad - that kid looks amazing. Genius.

Any one I missed...sorry, but you're all still special to me

As far as the concrete, I wasn't sore today, just tired. I actually got in a good chest/tri workout. The concrete this time was in my backyard, so my neighbor was helping me. But my payback is coming....he wants to build a 10x12 shed in the next few weeks and we have to pour that pad....I told him to order the concrete premixed!

Tommy - finished pics (btw, the broom finish is intentional):

Matt - Question
Is it at least 4 inches thick to hold a 2 post lift? Always necessary when laying any concrete pad. You just never know when and where you might want to install a lift later!

Not quite....filter inlet and skimmer basket.

My deck (torn down) used to have a sign that said "I don't swim in your toilet, so don't pee in my pool"
