Got up early. (05:00) Didn't sleep to well last night. Tossin and-a turnin, wakein and-a sleepin. It's sure to screw up my day. Had two really productive days (Tue/Wed). I was actually feeling pretty good with a good level of energy. Got the power of attorney via UPS to transfer the title of the 928 to me. The second to last step in the paperwork chain. Might stop by the tag agency today to see if I can get the title transferred and new tag. I have my project list layed out with things I can work on today.

Good morning Guru's, time to rise and shine! I hope that paperwork goes well for you Tommy. I have had some frustrating times down at the court house trying to get everything together that they required.

I had one of our vendors approach me yesterday wanting me to buy his C5. It is an 02, Mag Red with Black guts. Auto and he says it's perfect in every way. He wants 16K but already told me he would take 15K. He has a young family and needs something more practicle he says. I can identify with that. Says he looked all over the country to find just what he wanted. This car came out of the Houston TX area. The down side to me is that it has 83K on the clock. What say you guys? Was there an issue with the 01's and 02's? Seems I heard that on the Guru once.

TB and Volzfan what do you think? The car is in town and I have only seen it once on the street. LS1 engine with 350 hp I think.

You guys all have a great day, don't forget to look around and be thankful for what you have been blessed with.

P.S. Don congrats to you for winning the car show. I like your car and always enjoy you comments.

Good Morning All,

First off, I want to thank all of you for picking my car! Really cool and an honor to have this community think that much of the old girl!
Too Cool

I'm back to my juggling act again today! Two more days until show time! My phone has been ringing off the hook, and I'm getting slammed with email questions regarding the car show! Looks like it will be a big one! the proceeds of this show go to our two primary beneficiaries, Hospice Caring in Gaithersburg, MD and The Wells Robinson House nearby. Both of these area charities are great local facilities that help people in times of need. Wells Robinson helps homeless men and women and also battered spouses that need assistance. Hospice Caring is, well a hospice and we know what they are all about. The monies we give them each year helps to keep up the facilities and make it more pleasant for the people they serve. The good news is... that with pre-registration proceeds received so far, we are already making a profit for the show and not one car has driven through the entrance gate!!! However that is in part to the generosity of our sponsor Sport Chevrolet, they have paid for the T-Shirts and $600+ to cash prizes and gift cards.

I don't think I'm going to have time to get any more work done on my car before the show... So I am getting it flatbedded over to the show... I can detail it up there and have it looking good before all the craziness gets started. Then I will leave it there on Monday to have the AC Charged and let Frank look at some of the things I need addressed.! That will work out great for me!

Well, enough jabber for this morning.... chat with you all later.

Good Morning CGs!

Well, I did drive the beast yesterday and I'm glad, it felt good. I think I noticed it is missing a little at WOT, though. I'll have to do some more checking when I get a chance.

Don - sounds like Sport Chevy is doing a good job with the show, you too of course! Sounds like it should be fun. Take a huge level of organization for a show that big.

Marcus - you might be thinking of the column lock issues on early C5s. 2001+ automatics got rid of that feature.

http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=24

Tommy - did you pick out a personal plate yet? Bros928?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Been tossing it around. Since it is in his memory we're thinking of 4 KEV . KEVS 928 is also in the running. I was also thinking 79 928, 928 , and put a small In Memory decal with his name and dates on the back window. Just a thought.

Howdy! Storms supposed to pop up here and there today, and I didn't get around to putting the top back on, so the Vette is sitting in the garage. The forecast for the weekend looks like perfect weather for doing something other than working on the deck, but duty calls. Gonna have to get cracking on it or it won't get done.

Always interesting to see how other folks live:

Good morning Guru's.

Congrats to Don on the car show win. You deserve it.

It's already hot and humid here. Spent an hour in the garage last night messing with the hood latch on the Vette. Ended up soaked with sweat thanks to the humidity.

Nothing else much to report.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm doing more Tommy Doubtfire today, cleaning the floors up here. Just might get to taking some pics og my remodel.

The weather here's been 15 degrees below normal all month.

The TV showed a guy up on the hill (above Lake Tahoe) standing in his yard. He still has 10 feet of snow there and that's after it melted a lot.

Morning guys.....I've been up and at 'em for a while already, working on two more computers. Transferring data from the old one to the new one. We actually had a little bit of rain last night, maybe .3 better than none. Going to be hot again today, we might actually have to turn the AC on.

Congrats to Don on the win. Bill, we'd still take some of that moisture you have extra. Brad, have you decided to re-deck? Tommy, that what happens when you have so much to do....Tossin and turnin.

Marcus, personally that 02 doesn't sound bad to me. The price is reasonable and I would not worry at all about the miles. The CL issue doesn't pertain to 01 and up Auto cars. The only thing I would be concerned with at all would be the seat foam. GM didn't put the most durable foam in the seats, but that's an easy, relatively cheap fix. You'll be amazed at the power, comfort, ease of entry and egress and amount of luggage space in a C5 coupe. I'd say go for it.

Marcus, I thought of something else that is a common issue with C5's rear end axle seals have a tendency to seep....mine does, but it's not that much of a problem with mine.

Yep. I decided that 21 years was a good enough return on that decking, and I am tired of painting. I think we're going with tigerwood decking (and aluminum railings) - been reading a lot of good feedback on it. It sounds like it is fairly low maintenance and should last until I tip over.

Thanks TB, I think the rear end seal is what I was thinking about. I was reminded that this is a wedding year and not to get stupid. Nuts, that's going to be hard for me to do.

I am going to look at the car just for the sake of looking I haven't been around many C5's.

I brought the black car home last night, just about to go unload it from the trailer for some last minute work prior to race weekend. She's never met the blue car yet...do you guys think there is going to be a lot of growling, running in circles, and butt sniffing when they first meet? Who's going to come out as Alpha 'vette?

Waaaay too high on the '02, IMO. That's pushing Z06 territory. '01 Z's can be had for $15-16k, '02 and '03's still less than $20k. If you want to help a friend out, sure, but that is NOT a good deal.

Here's an '02 with only 15k miles at $12k, "buy it now" less than $15:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-C ... rucks&hash=item3f0a64a562

Here's one with similar miles (94k) selling for $13.5.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-C ... rucks&hash=item3cb8850b8c

I bet neither will go for that much.

Although I've heard good things about 'vettes that come out of the Houston area

Tommy said it was at the begining.

If you don't paint the new car black, you're actually going to have to remove the tire marks inbetween races......for once.

I was looking at tigerwooddecking.com (which is part of advantagelumber.com). The 5/4 x 6 is 2.75/lf for un-grooved, or 3.15/lf for grooved. I haven't decided whether to get grooved or buy a biscuit joiner to make my own grooves for hidden fasteners. No idea yet what shipping would run. There is one place way on the other side of town that apparently is a distributor for TigerDeck (tigerdeck.com), but I don't know what their prices are like. Anyway, it looks like it could be an ideal material for our climate as it supposedly is quite stable.

I thought it was a little high also. That is why I don't like to buy from folks I know. I don't feel like I can beat them down like I like to. Although the 14K milage one you listed is 100K car with a broke odo. If the car I am looking at was only 40 or 50K it would be more in line. I also don't know what option pack it has.

Yeah, pianoguy pointed that out. I didn't look that closely, just did a quick search to get a feel for the market. And it's not to say that the car in question is a bad deal or a rip off, it's just not a great deal, either.

I once bought a Mustang from a friend, he lost his job and could no longer afford it, I liked the car, so I bought it. I basically paid off what he owed at the time, far from a good deal but I still felt like it was a win-win. However, if you don't have any strong ties to the vendor I'd keep looking.

Hello guys, and Congrats to biggrizzly, well deserved I might add.

Marcus, that sounds like a pretty good price for that C5. As others have said, the CL problem shouldn't be an issue with that model.........and honestly, I think it's been blown out of proportion on all of them. As TeeBee says, the seat foam gives up pretty easy on these. Mine was pretty flat at approx. 56k, but it's not that expensive, and really easy to install if you're handy at all. You'll be happy with it, I'll bet. Keep us posted, and good luck! We need to see pics!
