I've created a monster. When the house deal fell through I figured 'Oh well". Now the wife is "Hot" for that house. No other house stands up. It has become the benchmark for comparrison. She really likes that neighborhood. Can't say I blame her. So, I'm still scouting houses but I'm calling the agent on the big one today. Go take a real close look at it, check the piggybank and gather all assets. I might have to call in the big guns. I've gone in over my head before and I know how to get back out. It's called ....... HARD WORK. Two four lettered words back to back. Press on my bruthas, press on.

Good Morning CGs!

Well we were a little disappointed last night. We were going to "ribfest" (http://www.ribfest.net/) with the neighbors and the kids. Got home from work and went right away. We even prebought our tickets since that takes a half hour in line...we were smart this year. Drive about a half hour, park, wait for the shuttle bus. After waiting in line 15 minutes, Woman comes out and announces they are already at capacity in the park by 6:15-6:30 or so and they won't be running any more buses. WTF! So we went to the downtown area and got some deep dish pizza at Giordano's. That was very enjoyable, it still turned out to be a nice evening. Got home around 9:00 and got rugrat #1 cleaned up and to bed.

Today we have a BBQ across the street in the afternoon. I have some landscaping to do and If I'm motivated in the next 15 minutes I'm gonna go run since it's not too hot yet...just under 80* outside.

We're gonna go back to ribfest early on Monday

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Speaking of hard work, what ever happened to the school job with the broken gas line? Was that an absolute nightmare? Is it done?

Water cooling line to the massive A/C units. And yes, finished it last Wednesday while you were on sabbatical. It seems like a bad dream .........

I'm up and at 'em. Today is going to be iffy with the weather. The weather man says that we should expect a 40 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon after 4PM. That sucks because we have our annual fireworks going off tonight in town. Our own little Mayberry R.F.D. does a real nice 4th of July Fireworks display. It has grown bigger and bigger each year and now the town gets clogged with traffic from all over just to see the lights booming out over the bay. What is cool though... is that on a clear night you can see other towns up and down the bay shooting off their fireworks as well. Some as far as maybe ten miles away.

We usually couple the fireworks with a picnic at some friends house nearby that live right on the bay right in front of where the the fireworks are launched from barges floating in the water. If it rains or is too cloudy it will really mess with the evening plans.

Tommy - perseverance is key and you guys will find something that suited both the investor in you and the desire of your better half to make a new nest. Still tons of great deals out there. A bay-front, three bedroom duplex with a single car garage sold two doors down from some friends last month for $375k. That's about $250 less than three years ago when I looked over there for waterfront.

Be safe and have fun!

Greetings! Gonna be lazy today and play some golf, followed by a BBQ with friends. Looks like another beautiful day out there.

Good luck with the house, Tommy. I know these things become inevitable once the Mrs. sets her mind to it.

Make the most of your day, everybody!

Morning guys....Tommy I hope that you can control that monster that you've created....one way or another. Brad how far along did you get on the deck? Don, that sounds like a neat place to watch fireworks. We can see those distances here....across country (can you say flat as a pancake?). Matt that sucks you didn't get in to the 'fest. But maybe you'll be able to do it tomorrow.

We don't have much planned for today. Chill out (figuratively speaking, as it is supposed to be mid 90's ad humid as heck), then later the youngest daughter is hosting a BBQ and then they will do fireworks.

Tomorrow we head home, but, on the way we will stop at my older brothers place, as they are hosting a get together for one of our first cousins that lives in California and is out visiting the country. We have not seen these cousins in 50 years, should be an interesting time.

Have a great one guys....

It's off to the Waterpark!! OMG! The wife bought season passes since we are two blocks away and don't have a pool in the backyard. Another amenity to living in a pseudo resort beach town. This could be painful, not to mention when I shed my shirt, it could cause long term psychological damage on young children!! At least I don't have to clean this pool or buy chemicals. Only need to watch out for tootsie rolls and amber colored water!

Mmmmmmmm Ribfest........they have one of those is Lincoln every year....now Im hungry again. Tommy, by bringing in the big guns do you mean the Guru.....we'll help you kick some ass just let us know....Rich sounds like an interesting day planned.....Brad golf and BBQ is a great 4th as is watching the fireworks in the evening.

I will go to church and then had a Patriot Guard escort ride today but my battery on the Hog died so I have to take the Vette into Star City to get a new one. Then its ball games and I am helping cook for the team picnik afterwards.

My MIL is coming here today and we will go watch the fireworks in our Village also tonight. Like where Don lives we put on a pretty good show. All the businesses contribute and so they get enough money to do it right.
We live not to far from a town that is called the Fourth of July city and they got that nickname from years of putting on a huge fireworks display and big BBQ down at the park. That would draw a lot of folks from all over the area so our town had to fight back.........firecracker wars.

Have a great day Guru's and let's be careful shooting off those M80's and Cherry Bombs.

Well, this has been nutz.
I just got out of the hospital, drove home lightheaded on morphine ( which didn't do a damn thing to kill the pain). But the Vicodin's starting to take the edge off.

Two days ago,my right wrist started to bother me, that night, it really started to hurt. I thought in might be gout, bursitis, etc. Very little swelling but painful. I tried Capzasin and Tylonol.

Last night, it went thru the roof. I've never felt pain this bad (way worse than my occasional migranes). Just a slight movement on the wrist made me yell outload.
I managed to sleep a bit but at 4 a.m., I said, I gotta go.
Took me an hour and a half to get dressed and into the truck.

By the time I got to the hospital, my fingers were curled up and I couldn't uncurl them.

Xrays, blood test an the Doc said the best thing, "It's treatable".
Bacterial infection that may even be into the bones.

The Vicodin's working, while I'm typing. I'll have to stay off of it late afternoon cause I have to go back at 8 for more blood tests.

One handed typing's a bitch.

I was really supprised the morphine didn't do shit.

Hopefully, I'll be back to normal in a couple days.

Bill take care of yourself big guy! Hey you actually type better with one hand
Been semi-pissed off all week end, it started Friday after I dropped my wife off for her Nail Salon Appointment. Went to Menards(like Home Depot) to pick up a garden hose across the isle was the American Flags and poles. A teenager and his buddies took a smaller size American Flag and wiped his ass with it and threw on the floor. This was a teachable fucking moment, I told the puke to pick the flag up and tell me what this symbolizes. He said something in Spanish but his buddies didn't laugh within seconds his father came around the corner and ask me what the problem was, so I told him the situation and what I expected from his POS offspring. The dad apologized and made his kid do the same I told him he needed to buy the flag. OK, not a big deal mbut I was in no mood! Left Menards ventured over to pick up my wife at the nail salon. Walking in the Salon I could hear the Vietnamese owner and his Vietnamese employees in Vietnamese how his uncle worked for both sides during the Vietnam War and was a South Vietnamese Captain. In perfect Vietnamese I asked him if his uncle was still alive? he said he was killed in 69 on the HoChi Mingh Trail, I told him I was probably the one that killed him and it was to bad his brother survived so I have to listen to your shit. His fucking eyes welled up. Gawd what a day, Its just another 4th for most people I lost a couple of Marines on July 4th 1969. What happened to respect of the flag, this nation, I don't see any country to help us out when we have disasters or problems. Opps sorry for the rant!

Sorry guys for the above rant! some times people just piss me off! When I see these young bangers ( remember I use to teach these kids) it drives me nuts to view their behavior when they know damn well no one will challenge them because of a self perceived fear factor. Gawd I'd love to water board that little puke, opps there I go again. Its unfortunate that I never have enjoyed the 4th too much baggage attached to it.

Bill, that's something I've never heard of - take care of it and do what the doc says!
Ron, rant all you need to, lessons need to be taught. Our nail salons have the vietnamese working in them also. A man I used to see would crawl my ass every time I went to get my nails done. He'd tell me stuff like "be sure to ask how their relatives are doing and if they say they're deceased tell them I probably killed them!" Geez. I have respect for our Vietnam veterans and hearing the stories from one I was close to really opens your eyes.
As for me - shitty day working on the car plus I got a f*&#$(U#* speeding ticket
"Hazardous driving"... and then he gave me shit about not looking like the photo on my license. Could it be the sunglasses and I had my hair pulled up? Well damn... idiot... then he gave me shit about my street addresss - "Yes, I live in the ghetto, I'm poor" and I rolled my eyes... then he started in cause my insurance card was out of date.... I was mad at this point. I told him, look I know the law, I was not paying attention to my speed and no my insurance card is out of date but I can look my account up on my iPhone if you prefer so you can see it... I was married to a cop I know what the laws are and I do understand you must do your job. But, yes, that's me on my license, and yes I live in the ghetto and then he had the nerve to ask WTF I did for a living. NOne of your @*^#@*&#^@*&#^ business I wanted to say but I was nice and told him - "i freelance at home doing design work and have a day job three days a week designing vehicle wraps and I jsut completed all YOUR department's D.A.R.E. vehicles as well as your Special Olympics Police Department's torch run trailer.....
Oh and he made sure he told me how good he thought those looked and wanted to carry on a converstation with me at that point.
Kiss my ass white boy....
Ok. there's my rant.....

Holiday weekend. Traffic enforcement has been high. Gurus have been getting their fair share of the lectures lately. City and county budgets are tight. Keep it close to the speed limit guys. Most of us need the money for parts not tickets.

Ron, You know what's in your heart. Sometimes you have to share it with others. Keep your fingers through your beltloops and let em have an ear full. Now if they were to come at you, wouldn't that be a terrible shame.

I'd be a lot less stressed if I had NO speeding ticket and I COULD find an oil dipstick tube. That kept me from gettin' done today
I certainly need the money for parts not paying the g'bment, truck and car both needed fixin'.
Hope everyone has a happy fourth tomorrow -
