Well, we were heading to the North Shore today and looking to get some good food at Papa Ole's when things went south. Not one, not two but three Corvettes wrecked...
The C5 ZO6, Black, wasnt paying attention, and rammed into the stopped red C5 ZO6, which was pushed into the black C6.
The Black ZO6 had his wife with him, who is 6 months pregnant. I took care of her, got her out of the car and put her in mine till to keep her cool until EMT's showed up, as she was injured (cracked sternum, but thank God the airbag didnt deploy, and baby is OKAY).
Two hospitals later, here are a couple shots of the guys waiting for X rays, and the cars. The C5's are at a very reputable shop and will be repaired, not totaled.

Wow, that's terrible! Must have been going at a good clip if she got a cracked sternum. Was she wearing a seatbelt?

Glad that they'll all be ok. Cars can be fixed a lot easier than people.

Holy Chit! Too Fast, Too Close.. I'm glad all is well. I hope they all stay friends with the Black C5 Z06 Driver. Ouch! At the very least he will Never live that one done among his friends. He will wear the scarlet letter. That's too bad.

The wife was wearing the seatbelt. He said he wasnt going fast. Weird, as it is some heavy damage, yet no air bag deployed. So, either the airbag was defective or he wasnt going very fast.
I did question how he stopped, and he said he floored the brake yet it bucked real hard. He forgot to hit the clutch too.
The funny thing about the Harelys was, they were stopping traffic as they were coming out as a group from the boat harbor parking lot, and we were stopping traffic up the hill and around the corner for us to come out of the park.
ed C5 is going to do Tiger Shark bodywork, as the cost is a little lower than OEM panels.
Black Vette , C6, is doing wide body kit, as it is going to cost the same. He will get new tires and wheels and selll the brand new stuff he just put on.
The black C5 ZO6 will be fixed and sold. We are going to steer this 22 year old Sailor to a four door sedan for his wife and child. Lesson Learned.

cars are easier to fix/replace than people

That's one of the problems with large caravans

sorry to hear, but most importantly, the mommy and baby are a-ok!!!!

Airbags won't deploy on rear end collisions... There is also a chance that the airbag was turned off for the passenger, it is optional on some vehicles today. Figure 25mph for airbags, and only on frontal impact. Side impact, well, that's self explanatory.

Where was this? The road side looks real familier, but it looks the same everywhere once you clear Kaneohe!!!

They must have been right under 25 mph. The airbag wasnt turned off. The kid didnt realize you need to pay attention to the road, not argue with the wife, then press brake and clutch when stopping in an emergency.
Also, you need to have a valid permit, yes PERMIT. Kid hasnt had a license in 5 years, and he is 22.

Uuuuh boy. Bad situation. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was and that all the people involved weren't hurt badly.

Lately, I have found myself paying a LOT more attention to the brake lights in front of me when I'm driving for some unknown reason. I usually drive like little old lady anyway, and a lot of people give me crap about having a Corvette but driving so slow. Sorry folks; having been involved in couple of bad accidents and having been badly hurt in one of them, it's just how I roll.

What a mess! No license? Probably no insurance.
He's lucky it was his pregnant wife.
Hope the baby's O.K.

People on the street drive about 3-4 car lenghts in front of them. They have zero training in defensive driving.

It's something I have to teach to every (and I mean every) driving student on the track.

It's something that you have to work hard at to learn.

I drive 1/4 to 1/2 mile ahead.

Red car is totalled, even with all reciepts of upgrades, which USAA wanted to help in assesing cost/value. He cant buy it for parts unless he goes through auction.
This really sux.
This car had all kinds of mods, just makes you want to choke the idiot that caused this.

I'm surprised...was there a lot of hidden damage? What did they assess the car value/damage at?

Like I said earlier, I'd be pissed that somebody with that kind of power under his ass doesn't know how to drive it.

Labor is allot of it I am sure. I will get more of the report later tomorrow. The repair person is a straight shooter, and he will tell us what the adjuster told him. This was without even lifting the car on a lift, so something was definitely bad, as it was over 25k.
