Good Morning Guys! Mat and Tommy must be sleeping in today!

It was a real crazy day yesterday! I'll explain that in another OT thread in a bit! but here's another one to keep you busy.

I took the car out yesterday afternoon to go to the monthly Corvette Club meeting. Another 1.5hr drive in bumper to bumper 90 degree Washington DC traffic. I had the top off the car and I was roasting in the 2MPH rolling parking lot. The temperature gauge stayed steady and only got up to 203 at its high point and averaged around 192 or so for the whole trip. That was a good thing! The worst thing however, is that in one area of the beltway where the traffic was going very slow, a guy in front of me just stood on his brakes and stopped. Due to my intention and stupidity I bumped his rear bumper with the nose of my Corvette. No damage to his vehicle but I chipped the paint on the nose just above the license plate recess a little bit. This is the first time I have made physical contact with another vehicle in over 30 years and it really pisses me off how stupid I was. Clearly it was my fault but I also contribute it to the huge fricken gas pedal and brake pedals I installed a couple years ago. I have done this before on a panic stop. I hit the brake but also at the same time hit the gas and the car keeps going. In the tight quarters, like I had yesterday I did the same thing and could not get my foot off the gas fast enough to avoid his bumper. BAD... BAD...BAD!!

Oh well... some touch up paint and a future trip to the paint shop for the that front end. It needed it sorely anyway.

Cheers - Chat later

Good morning! Bummer about your bumper, Don! If you have a few extra degrees, send some this way - it was a balmy 45 this morning, and they're talking widespread frost tonight. Ick.

Enjoy your day, everybody!

Good Morning Guru Nation! Don sorry to hear about your mishap.....glad it wasn't worse. Brad....frost? Yikes! It's rainy and cold here today also.

I woke up to Ultraboy telling me there was water in the laundry room, so I went down and it looks like the lift station isn't lifting and we have poop water coming up out of the floor drain in the laundry room. I hate poop water.

I made a call to the plumber and he is on his way out. The lift station is just on top of the grinder that grinds up the.........nevermind.....

My list of stuff for the wedding is getting longer so I better concentrate on getting some done today. This thing is going to happen before we know it.

Have a nice hump day Guru's.

Good morning guys....I can't say that I've not done that Don, and I know how it pizzes you off. Considerably cooler here too, Brad, 55 for a low this morning, highs of low 70's.

Spirit week continues, I'm working on several projects for different classes, cheerleaders, etc. I'll be glad when this week is over.

Got to go, kids here needed assistance.

Oh yeah, that's what the grinder is for. The pump is bad so he is putting in a new one. This is when I don't mind paying the plumber to do stuff. Of course the sump is full of ground up.......nevermind....I have't ate breakfast yet. And what is that smell seeping through the house....

Good Morning CGs!

Got both the rugrats today so that was my morning routine. Wash ups and breakfast for everyone. Now I'm trying to clean up the house a bit. Neighbor is supposed to come over and talk to Samantha for some school project she's doing. It's some masters or phd program for some speech therapy or something. I have no idea. After that if the kids are good we might take a road trip to HF. I still need to drain the pool water and put the cover on, though. #1 also has gymnastics at 1:05.

Not a whole lot else to report.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Don, sorry about your bump. Glad it wasn't worse.

Marcus, sucks about your pump. Glad the plumber got there so quickly.

Dropping the Mustang off at the body shop on Monday to get the 1/4 fixed.

That would be correct. Although we would still need the lift station to get it out of the house since the sump sits lower than the outflow pipe. It's what happens when you put on a new addition on an old house. I could hook up to the city sewer system now that they put in a new trunk line but they want 10K for the hook up and I still have to get it to the line. Our septic was all new 10 years ago and has not given us much trouble. We are a little bit country......

I'll have to listen to that song at home. For some reason the work 'puter won't handle it. Our internet hasn't worked right in a couple of days here. woke up to muggy and rainy weather this morning, wanted to stay in bed, didn't have any work to do at work anyway. Came on it and whaddya know - I've been busy ever since. Supposed to pick up a MAF sensor for the vert after work, got to the bank, invited to a body wrap party and a kickboxing class.... geez...

It actually looks pretty good. You should have seen mine the first time I did it. This was a few years ago and I just did a top end rebuild and replaced all the front seals and oil pan gasket etc. The entire engine was covered in at least a half inch of oil/dirt and I had to spoon it out of the cross-member where it had collected over the years. I probably shaved ten pounds of oil and dirt off the car when cleaning it up.

Cleaning and prepping for engine replacement are just as big a PITA and any of the other tasks involved with R&R.

Good Luck, Can't wait to see it when its done.

I see we have a bunch of busy beavers. I was up and out in the yard early today. My wife and the crew had the chain saws ripping. I've knocked a number of items off the list the past couple of days. Last night I put up the tools at 11:00 PM. Today I've been working on the patio replacing wood, caulking, and getting everything ready for the painter to paint the patio ceiling. The roofers replaced a lot of wood so a total repaint was in order. I didn't want to mess with it. A guy told me $300 and I buy the materials. SOLD!. I'll check in later tonight. Back to work.

Written across the wall of the cave were the following symbols:

Resized Image

It was considered a unique find and the writings were said to be at least 3000 years old!

The piece of stone was removed, brought to the museum, and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols.

They held a huge meeting after months of conferences to discuss the meaning of the markings.

The President of the society pointed to first drawing and said:

"This is a woman. We can see these people held women in high esteem.

You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol is a donkey, so they were smart enough to have animals help them till the soil.

The next drawing is a shovel, which means they had tools to help them.

Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish which means that if a famine hit the earth and food didn't grow, they seek food from the sea.

The last symbol appears to be the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews."

The audience applauded enthusiastically.

Then a little old Jewish man stood up in the back of the room and said,

"Idiots...Hebrew is read from right to left... It says: 'Holy Mackerel, Dig The Ass On That Chick!'"[/quote]

I'm pretty amazed myself but I did it very slowly, a little at a time. The actual day of removal I had a friend that said he was going to help but then did not show up so I just did it myself. I was worried about bashing the windshield or something like that. The worst I did was break the oil pressure sender on top of the block when the engine shifted back towards the firewall while I was lifting it out. It is a little unnerving removing the engine on the hoist alone but otherwise I managed ok.

However, I did have two friends help guide the new motor back into place. I don't know if I could have done that alone. I'm sure where there is a will there is a way.
