GM CGs

As I mentioned in yesterdays chat, we went to a local car show last night. They had it all. Mustangs, Vettes, Minies, classics, rods, muscle, rats, a sweet custom and a few vintage bikes, liveries, wagons, chops, and a truck or two.
I wasn't feeling all that good and felt like I got hit with a stupid stick but went to see the cars anyway. When my allergies are active it seem like remembering anything beyond my full name is difficult. Check out my last post from yesterday to see some details on the Speed Racer Mark 5 I saw at the show. It was really pretty neat and well done to boot. Well ... a new day is dawning. Where did I leave my brain?

My alergies have also been bad the last couple of days with the warm temps.....very strange this time of year for me. Took an Alegra D which works for me...

Up early doing some C5 research....I need to clean the MAF and was looking for some info on that.....I am in the process of modifying or changing out my air filter and inlet hose and the MAF is dirty....the screen anyway....
How do you guys clean up the MAF if you have one?

I could not believe how small the air inlet is on a stock air cleaner set up for the C5.....why do they make it so restrictive? No wonder the aftermarket set ups sell so well, there has to be horsepower available if you open that up........

Church and shop time today, the weather is getting crummy sooo it will be nice to be in the warm shop....I will post some pics of the engine bay mods when I get everything finished......

Enjoy Guru's!

Use only MAF cleaner, not carb or brake clean. All the parts stores have it. Just spray it on, no scrubbing.

Air inlets - GM knew what they were doing. The mfg's claims are silly. The only way you get a decent improvement is to pull in cooler air (cooler than the engine compartment) not by just increasing size.

Last night we had a thunderstorm and heavy rain roll through. A thunderstorm in January is rare here, but the warm weather has been nice. Yesterday we had an unveiling of a restored 1980 vette. A local serviceman (army) was on his second or third deployment to Afghanistan. While he was gone a lot of major suppliers donated the time and materials and had his worn out vette restored with all new interior, new paint, brakes, wheels, etc., etc. He was shocked and speechless, the car looks like brand new, maybe even better than new.

Morning guys..... Neat story about the army guy. I think my allergies have been kicking up too. Yup Marcus, MAF cleaner. We have a Knights of Columbus activity today, so I'm headed out for that.

Weather today is cloudy, dreary and cool, glad I'll be inside. I did get the wife's car washed yesterday, it really needed it. My pickup is next, if it will warm up just a touch.

It doesn't actually kill them it just desensitizes you to their presence. Basicly, with enough beer nothing actually bothers you. Cept maybe the old ball and chain.

Greetings! I'm sore from painting the living room yesterday, moving furniture and setting up some new home theater stuff. A few details left for today, hopefully in time to put a nice dent in the couch.

Have a good day, all!

Good Morning CGs!

Had a really fun time last night at the party. Didn't make it home until about 3am...pretty late! Lots of food and drink and no problems. We had a good turnout to support the village, too. We bought about $45 in raffle tickets and won a 19" LCD tv as a prize....not too shabby!

Should be a lazy day around here with the folks and the kids. Dinner with the outlaws later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I just got back a little while ago from the Sunday morning Cars & Coffee in Annapolis, MD. Nothing like the Katie's event I went to yesterday but still fun to get together and talk to car guys in the morning. There were quite a few Ferrari's again. This guy was telling me that basic maintenance like changing fluids can be upwards of $8K and on some earlier models the engine needs to be pulled to change belts and plugs etc. That's just nuts

I'm taking it easy today, not getting into much of anything.

Happy Sunday.

Lots of ebaying and forum selling today, plus back to working on the house. It is winter, after all.

How can I turn off the "thanks for your submission" messsage? Has that already been covered? If so, sorry...I've been out of touch.

Not much here in Arkie... our Red Wolves are just getting started tonight in the GoDaddy Bowl on ESPN if you care to watch... I spent the night in Tunica at the casinos last night, got an offer I couldn't say no to. Didn't win, but didn't lose any of my money, cousin just wanted someone to talk to. Just gonna sit here, have some coffee and watch the game.... hope y'all had a good weekend.
