Sorry for the brief intro had to get the phone....no change in weather so no joy there.

I see that Chevy sold 13K new Corvettes in 2011 which they were somewhat happy about. In comparison they sold 35K new Vettes in 2008.

How long before that gets back up there if ever.....It would help if the C7 is a knockout.....

More work less play makes me a dull boy, hope everyone is feeling better, up to snuff, hitting on all cylinders.....

Ultrawoman is not 100% with a sore throat but going to work anyway....according to her its easier to just go then have to get everything ready for a sub.....TB may know about that....

Have a safe day Guru's! Let's buckle up out there....

Greetings! I'm feeling a lot better today, back in the office. Hopefully will be able to make it all day. A lot of this crap is going around - hope your Mrs. escapes it, Marcus! My wife wasn't feeling too sharp yesterday, either.

Have a good day, yawlz!

Good Morning Guys and Gals.

Looks like a fairly busy day at work today.
Rather heavy coating of frost this morning.

Waiting to hear how Andy's test drive goes today. Maybe he can finally get that thing back on the road. Then maybe, just maybe he will have time to work on T's car.

Have a good day gang.

Sales collapsed in model year 2009 (17k), continued down in model year 2010 (12k) and recovered slightly in 2011 (13.5k). They appear to be slightly up again for 2012.

The ZR1 has been holding up more than its part: 13% of production in the worst year (2010). When you watch the 2012 statistics, Corvette production is sharply split between relatively basic coupes (low-end interiors, low other option content) and loaded high-end cars (Grand Sport 'verts and ZR1s). Our car (a loaded narrow-body) is a rare configuration. The 51k customer is very different from the 81k to 129k customer.

I don't think they'll ever get back to the 36k that Chevrolet set as the maximum they wanted to produce. I think they're working on being able to make money at the 12k to 16k a year range.

I expect the C7 to be the best Corvette yet (and I expect to buy one at some point) but I don't expect it to be a knockout. I think folks who do are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Hmmmmm...you may be right on the production side and as stated earlier 87% of all new cars are bought by 50 year olds or older. You guys are in the 13 percentile I belive...

I think that the base foundation of the C5's and 6's are so good that we will see further refinements to that platform.....if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality. I think interior quality will move up a bunch and the overall exterior look will be good also.....I would also like to own a brand new Corvette for once in my life and hope I am not dissapointed in it. I don't think I will be....

I believe they will need to keep an option to buy a new Corvette in the low $50's if not high 40's with dealer incentives kicked in to get the younger folks involved. A new Vette was never cheap but if you wanted one and had a decent job including blue collar jobs you could get a new one in your price range. That needs to continue to happen.

Morning guys....I was in hurry when I checked in earlier. School is a PITA today, don't know why, things are just that way today. Marcus, I know exactly what she means. It is such a huge PITA to be gone, unless it can't be helped, I would rather go and do the teaching myself. In my case there are no subs that are qualified to take the kids to the shop, so I have to give busy work, which I then have to grade when I get back. Ninety nine percent of the people don't understand drafting, so if a kid has issues, the sub can't help, so then the kid sits there and eventually starts to cause problems, so it's not worth it there either. I totally understand.

Yea, if Chevy was really concerned with Corvette sales, they would not raise the price of them. The way I look at it they just keep raising the price to make up for lower sales, which in turn makes buying a new one even harder for the "average joe", so sales go down more. If they really wanted to make more sales they would keep that cost down where the average person can afford one.

Now that being said, I'd never be able to afford a new one, unless I hit the lottery.

Bill, you will get there one day. Just keep plugging away at it.

Cold again today. I guess it is February.

Grind out the door edges, put sticky, wet fiberglass in, wait, grind our, redo, repeat.

Whoda thunk bees are attracted to wet fiberglass???

Well, the fiberglass cured on the edged, did a rough sand.

Then glassed and forced the door frame back into position with C-clamps.

I'll find out tomorrow if it held.

Hi all, been a while since I posted. Work has been crazy busy which means either the telecoms business overall is picking up or I dont delegate well enough..

Anyway, the monster has just about 1500 miles on the new motor so I'm planning a dyno trip in the next few weeks. I'll be upping the RPM in the tune to 6500 (currently at 5000 - you will remember the builder wanted me to restrict to about 6-8 pounds of boost for the first 1500 miles and limiting RPM was easier than swapping pulleys). Hoping for some nice numbers, I'll try and shoot some video.

I also finally made a decision on my daily driver - I have been driving a 1999 SHO which is nice but showing signs of age. Need something that is a balance of:

Fun (for me)
Price (to keep the missus happy)
Quiet on freeway
Seat 4 adults
Fun
Good gas mileage
Price
Reliability
Fun

..so I test drove a 4-door, 6-speed 2012 VW GTI and it meets all the above criteria. Surprisingly quiet and balanced car with a reasonable turn of speed. I actually really like it, and it also satisfies some of my mid-life crisis! Gonna probably sign the lease papers tomorrow.

Good Evening CGs!

Set the alarm wrong this morning and overslept. Luckily only 20 minutes so I was ok and not late, but no internet time this morning.

One of our local board members, Tim, was in my neck of the woods today so I met up with him for a few minutes around lunch time and chit chatted.

Kids are bathed and getting ready for bed now. Maybe a little adult beverage after that and watch some tv with the wife, then off to bed.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Matthew
