Hello Gurus!
A very happy Friday to all. Not Quite friday, but late enough here in South east Pa. I'm sitting on the porch with my pellet gun loaded waiting to hear my trash can rumble around. I'm tired of this god damn racoon leaving a royal mess for me every morning. Tonight.....well, we'll see...

Other than that I just gotback from Denim Springs Louisiana visiting an uncle I have'nt seen in years. He has some Cajun neigbhors that took me fishing in the Bayou. What a Blast! Put his 18 footer in the water and it took 1/2 hour to get to his favorite spot. DEEEP in the bayou. not even cell service. Every time we put the line in the water, we got one! They call them Gagoula.....Big Ass Bluegills where I'm from, 1 to 2 pounders. I got 24 in just 3 hours. I never in my life caught that many.....and they were just my keepers! I thanked him up one side and down the other. My Aunt fried them up and they were the best Ive ever eaten. If you ever get the chance to fish in southern louisiana.....GO! They were the nicest people I ever met. Who do ya know that just meets you and takes you to their best fishing spot? noone I know up here in Pa. Man What a day. Met his Uncle and some family friends at their fishing camp. One was a cancer survivor like me. Instant friends. Have a beer he said, and passed one around with a big grin. So we sat there line in water pulling out bass off the front porch. Tossed them all back....they were only 12 inchers. Gots ta be foteen he said. Dont ever let anyone ever tell you swamp people are assholes. They were just lovin life and kickin back. Made my YEAR!
Enjoy Gurus! Have a great weekend, alan

I was at rest in bed, at the edge of sleep, listening to the sounds of a gentle rain. There was a playful dog growl as the cat pranced gingerly across the quilt. The rousing aroma of freshly squeezed flatulence was all it took to make me realize further sleep would be an impossibility. Another day has begun.

Happy Friday! Took the Vette out of the garage for the first time in a week, finally sunny and warming up a bit today.

Right on, Alan - nothing better than fresh-caught sunfish. We used to do a "catch 'em, clean 'em, cook 'em, eat 'em" sunfish fry with friends every summer - haven't done that in way too long.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning CGs!

Sounds like you had a blast, Alan. Lots of fun.

I received some parts for the car yesterday. One was my superram intake. I had originally planned on leaving it alone, but you know me...I can't leave well enough alone. I have to port it. I can't *not* port it. Damn me. But I need a shop to dip the aluminum first. Lots of nasty gasket material and rtv left over.

I actually have the weekend off. Tomorrow is a little belated bday celebration for RR #1 at the bowling alley. Kids should enjoy that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Morning guys...I slept pretty good last night. The cool air makes a huge difference. Supposed to be in the upper 70's again today.

The fishing adventure sounds like a good time. I haven't been fishing in a long time. Probably because I never run into a fishing hole like you described.

Well, I got PT in about an hour.....later.

Yea, no one in S.Central Pa. either.
The last time a friend took me out on his 30 footer at Raystown, he ran it 10 minutes to a cove, said this is "our spot", brought up a 2 foot stack of newspapers and magazines, and that was that.
30 minutes later, I threatened to throw him overboard.

Yay yay its Friday, I had to smile Alan thinking of you on the porch loaded for coon.....I also have a coon I'm after that has grown up on cat food...he probably weighs 50 lbs. I was going to shoot him but may just trap him and transport him away. I'm getting to soft in my old age.

In a small town just down the road is the Cattleman's Ball this weekend. About 4 thousand folks are attending, the tickets have been sold out for month's. It looks like Ringling Bros. circus down there with $85,000 dollars worth of rented big top tents and $60K worth of booze already shipped in for the big party. All proceeds go to Cancer research and many businesses have donated things that will be auctioned off. I mean big stuff like tractors, cars and a whole center pivot system. We donated a 250 gallon jug of Durango which is a Roundup type weed killer. That got us a couple of tickets. I don't know how much beef they thought they would go through but it will be a small herd I'm sure.....It will be interesting. It moves around to different part of the State every year and raises millions of bucks for research. 44 different committes......big doings.....

Alan we missed you at the car show, this is the car I was going to show but thought I might have some problems proving it was mine........it's red so would have won.

Have a good day Guru's!

That's a gorgeous car, Marcus. Any idea who it belongs to?

I found a local powdercoater by my house to do the SR for me. He told me about $40 to soda blast the whole thing and get all the gaskets, rtv, and junk off it. Said it would lose the shine if it was polished, but I said no problem. He also said if I wanted to powdercoat it later after porting then that money for prep work would be applied and it would probably run another $75 or so. I think those prices were very reasonable. Gonna try to drop it off today.

It was part of an internet scam that was being run. They had to sell the car and the first 12K would buy it...you had to send your billing stuff to them and the phone number started in Montana and ended up in Indiana.....total scam. I was interested because the Montana number was from a town we used to live in up there and I called to see who it was owned that car. That's when things got hinky. I reported it on the Guru back when I was a newbee.

It is a great car. It has a custom sound system built into the back.

Just did a time check. Clock is still 3 hours off. Does it matter? Not to me. I don't need to know what time it is. My pets wake me up at the same time every day. And I know when it's time to go to bed because I'm sleepy.

My rant of the hour ..... I rant all day.

My wife is going for surgery Monday on her left leg. Previous surgeries only provided tempory relief and the cyst in the affected area just grew back. She has had three surgeries by two different doctors. Going back for #4 with a doctor that has known my wife over 20 years. She's a nerve specialist that deals primarily in the hand. She is more than capable of performing this surgery. My wife will be getting tissue replaced, a nerve release behind her left knee and something else done up by the toes. Now for the rant part. The hospital calls to set up the payment. They want over two grand and say we haven't met our deductible. We have met our deductible in full. They pull this $#!+ all the time. Last year they tried the same thing. I just got and insurance statement today showing we paid our deductible in full. The next part will be my pecentage responsibility. With a preferred provider my share is 10%. That's easy enough to figure. The part that really burns my ass is I have been dealing with this hospital group since 1979. With the same medical insurance company for over 25 years. I owe these people nothing. I've paid everything I ever owed them over that time. Then they call with their avante garde attitude singing the pay to play tune. Here, play this ...........

Hey guys....I went to PT this morning feeling pretty good. They worked my butt off, sweated like a pig and then they measured my motion. First was the "heal slide", Weds, it was 101 today I was 111. With that in my pocket I was ready for the second sitting measurement after a few stretches time for the measurement......119, YES! The goal at four weeks is 120. I've been walking around the house without crutches...guys I'm making good progress, thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I'd rather have this one if it came with the trailer and car.
It's a short one because of the trailer but with the trailer the rig measures 63 1/2 feet - fun in the parking lots.

After Hurricane Andrew almost 20 years ago, I seriously considered building a safe room. I haven't needed one but the comfort provided by having one is considerable. Anybody have one? Right now my central hallway would be the safest place in the house.

The storm has past. No big deal.

The storm has past. No big deal.

Yep. Actually it is a fully finished basement with living room and bedroom. Even have the cable and large screen TV down there. If we get serious tornado warnings we simply take the dog and head down the stairs. Actually the dog is usually already down there, she has some kind of built in early warning system of her own.

Basement furnace room for us but the newer homes are all putting in a concrete bunker room in the middle of the basement. Steel doors and everything......wet bar....internet connect....TV's...they are a lot better then the old storm cellers.....Hit the Movie Trailer button...

Basement here....the best place is under the staircase in the middle of the basement. Yea, real safe rooms are becoming more the norm here too Marcus.

Well, I am paying somewhat for my gains this afternoon. The leg is really sore, but that is to be expected.

I'd strap myself into the racecar, it's got a full rollcage.

All you have to do is buy an older mobile home and park it at the far end of your property.
Tornados always go after them first.

OK, I'll see your entree and raise you - strawberry shortcake with chocolate ice cream.
(homemade shortcake not that sponge crap).

I ate some dragonfruit for the first time tonight. Tasted a lot like watermellon. Better than I thought it would be. Since we'll have plenty it's a good thing I like it. It will make great pig and tortoise food too. The owner of a local fruit stand said he take some off our hands. I told my wife to swap it for lettuce and other leafy green vegetables. (more tortoise food)

Check out the fruit stand
