This is the 5th year I've had mine on, but I've been thinking about swapping them for something else. I have less than 30k on them.

They aren't very efficient then.

For cheapos like KYB, I'll change them @ 20k.

Too true, the problem when I bought them was that I had a track day the next day and Summit was out of stock on Bilstein's......wizzed me off.

I bought C6-Z06 shocks for mine and it rides much harsher now. I should have gone with the Bilstein Sport. I am thinking this winter it's time for a change.

My KYBs are fine, no complaints at all. I probably wouldn't use them for any kind of competition for a daily driver/street use they are the best value, IMHO

they do ok for about 3 years... then turn in to rocks for some reason.

For the money, they can't be beat... but they do lack durability. Figure 50k miles is it.

I put the Koni adjustable sports on mine about two years ago and have been very happy with ride quality on the soft setting. I haven't experimented enough with them in the firmer settings to know any better though.

Don, do it.

I have the same shocks... had them on my old Prelude VTEC... SOB would corner on rails at fully firm.

Someone did a neat trick of drilling a hole in the inner fender to reach the fitting. Meant you didn't have to drop the shocks to change the settings. Quite brilliant.

Update on my KYB's on my 87, the rear's seemed way stiffer than they should be, so I replaced them with some Monroe's. It rides much better now.

Thank's to the kindness of brad (jonszr1), he fronted me a set of lightly used KYBs after I found my Koni's puking oil after 80k miles!

No complaints, really... just bad timing. I am aiming at Bilsteins next. Employee discounts rock.

They have a couple of lines, but the white gas-a-justs are the only ones that fit the C4... donno about the others or what fits your Fbody.

When I was putting the axles on the impala, I snuck in a set of kybs for the 86. They were on sale at rockauto . I got 'em for $120, and they came w/a $40 gift card type rebate. So I got em for $80. If I have problems, I' like bill steins, but I'll prolly hafta look into something like a set of something lest. I used to have good luck w/ Gabriel's . That may be a direction to look at.

Really? Monroes are what I took off the rear of mine when I first bought it, they were absolute garbage. Hope you have better luck.

From a budget standpoint you can't beat the KYBs, really.

When I bought my 86 last year it had Gabriel's on it. It's purely a cruiser and for that they've worked out just fine. Don't know the models of then, other than they're white. It seems to track well on windy roads and things like interstate cloverleafs.

I suspect the P.O. may have done something like autocross with the car as it looks to have had upgrades to the brakes and swaybars along the way. In case that makes a difference.

I just put a set of KYB Gas-a-Just on my '92 at the beginning of this season. They seem to give just a slightly smoother ride than the originals that were on the car. It seems to handle about like it always did. For a car that is street driven and not raced, they're perfect. Mine are metallic grey in color. I got the $40.00 rebate too.

So far, so good.
