Good morning guys.......we'll head back to dad's house later today. As we will get to view Mom late. We all wanted to have the funeral ASAP, to bring a little closure to this sad part of our lives.

On a lighter note, we just got back from the Paul McCartney concert. What a show! That guy can still ROCK for nearly 3 freaking hours. I think that I can say that I loved all the songs they performed, but I have to say that "Live and let die" was the most impressive production! The lights and sound and the fireworks.....just awesome. We sang along with nearly every song. He did perform a few from his newest album, and we didn't know those. I'm a little hoarse (that one should give you guys some fodder), which I know I don't sing for a living (thank god for that one ), so I can't imagine what his voice is like after a night like that.

All I can say is this, if you have a chance to see him......DO IT!

I'll check in later, I got to hit the sack.

Sorry for your loss. Being able to bring closure at least during the first stage of mourning is a big hurdle. I hope everyone is there for each other as people cope differently.

Best wishes during your difficult time.

On a light note for me, no arrests tonight

And in the words of the great rapper ice cube

today I didn't even have to use my A.K.
I got to say it was a good day

Good morning gang.

I see things got started early.

Glad see you and Rosie had a good time at the concert T.B.

As for here it looks like a nice day again with sunny skies and cool temps in the mid 70's.

Word of the Day Thursday, July 17, 2014

tautology\ taw-TOL-uh-jee \, noun;

1. needless repetition of an idea, especially in words other than those of the immediate context, without imparting additional force or clearness, as in "widow woman."

2. an instance of such repetition.

3. Logic. a. a compound propositional form all of whose instances are true, as "A or not A."

b. an instance of such a form, as "This candidate will win or will not win."

Today is NATIONAL PEACH ICE CREAM DAY
As fresh peaches are at their prime during the month of July, it makes perfect sense to celebrate National Peach Ice Cream Day each year on July 17.

Ice cream is a very popular dessert in the United States. Each year, Americans consume about 13 liters of ice cream per person, which is the most in the world. Records indicate that ice cream (a then-expensive treat) was served by Thomas Jefferson to guests in his home in Monticello.

Peach is one of the original 31 flavors of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream. Founded in 1945, Baskin-Robbins is the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops.

A few peach facts:

◦The state of Georgia has been known as the center of peach growers.
◦Georgia is known as the “Peach State”
◦Peach harvest occurs between June and August.
◦Harvest from each peach tree lasts about one week.
◦There are two main varieties of peaches: Clingstone and Freestone.
◦A medium peach weighs 2.6 oz.
◦A medium peach typically contains 30 calories, 7 g of carbohydrate, 1 g of protein, 140 mg of potassium, and 8% of the daily value for vitamin C.

Also WRONG WAY CORRIGAN DAY
July 17th is known as Wrong Way Corrigan Day.

On July 17, 1938, skilled American aviator Douglas Corrigan, received the nickname “Wrong Way” after he “accidentally” flew to Ireland on a flight from Long Beach, CA, to New York. Apparently, heavy cloud coverage during his flight caused Corrigan a navigational error resulting in him somehow ending up in Ireland!

Was it a true error? No one will never know, as Corrigan never admitted to intentionally flying to a different country.

Good Morning CGs!

TB - I missed the end of chat yesterday, but very sorry for your loss. I hope that concert gave you and Rosie some time to take your minds off of that topic.

Ceiling is done? Looks like crap if you ask me. I put two coats of ceiling paint on and I can still see some streaking, etc. It was a ton of work and I'm not impressed with the kilz brand ceiling paint. Next time will be Behr ultra premium. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning. The engine rebuild on the skid steer has been a mission from hell. Hindsight is 20/20 but had we known then what we know now we would have just bought a new engine and would have done with it. Builder would not warranty the engine because we bought the parts. Engine was noisy on start up. He claimed it was the valves and ignition timing. We brought it to another shop that tore it down again. That mechanic says the pistons need shaving and the head gasket was wrong. I brought the pistons to a machine shop and ordered a new gasket kit. Right now the diesel mechanic that's working on it is trying to make it right for us. Needless to say he does not have a kind word for the first engine rebuilder. I can't say anything good about them either. Sue has been busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger. Looks like I'll be covering the nursery for a couple of weeks because the secretary is going on vacation for two weeks. Oh the joy. I'm behind on my chores because I've been running around doing honey do's. I have a delivery this morning, pick up the pistons and gasket kit then resume my regular activities (unless it rains). Then I'll resume another popular activity.

May the good news be yours.

Howdy!

I still don't have my new truck - the replacement radio hasn't materialized, and is backordered. I got a message last night indicating that "it could be another week". Screw that, if they don't have a handle on it, I'll pick it up today and use my Bluetooth speaker with my phone until it comes in. Ridiculous.

Much mojo coming your way, Tom. Glad to hear you also enjoyed the concert - I'm looking forward to it.

Have a good day, Gurus!

I'll never use a paint roller again, especially on a ceiling.

The last ceiling I painted here took 15 minutes, $15 of plastic & tape. 15 minutes to clean my airless sprayer.

Well, after 6 hours of sleep, I'm somewhat refreshed. The concert was a bit of a distraction from the other things going on in our lives, but this morning we are back to thinking about the upcoming few days. Even though family is around the area, we will get motel rooms in Great Bend as there is just too much family coming in. Mom and dad's legacy is 6 children, 17 grands and 25 great grands. And most will be there tomorrow. That's just too many for two households to try and put up. . Got things to do.

I'll check in later.

I looked on there yesterday and found a couple I liked.. my problem is this little "double occupancy" issue... I'm single and have no one to go with so that's what gets me screwed over.. you put "1 traveler" and price magically triples

Tommy - oil based paint is illegal in Illinois.

Bill - I don't own a sprayer but want one for my painting. What brand / model are you using?

What I did wrong - bought 2 different little ones, the ones that the paint jar screws on to the gun (Wagner, etc).
Absolute crap.

Then I bought a Wagner Paint Crew but the second thing I did wrong was follow the cleaning directions. I did dissemble the gun and cleaned it meticulously with a toothbrush, soapy water. I just ran soapy water thru the rest - WRONG - the valve in the pump froze up on old paint and I had to get a new one.
Bottom line - pull the valve where the hose attaches to the pump and clean it, a shot of WD40 - (takes 5 minutes) and
it will spray like new the next time (used it again after 7 years sitting in the garage).
I've painted the whole house with it in 6 hours both primer and top coat (not counting taping). Did the popcorn ceiling in the house and downstairs walls. It is fast and just a little more taping than with a brush/roller.

This is an airless sprayer (like the pros use but for homeowners). An 8 x 10 wall would take about 5 minutes.

This is almost identical to mine:

http://www.heartlandamerica.com/wagne ... int-crew.html?SC=WIF20001

Also, this one's interesting since it's HVLP but I'd want to try one before spending the money.

DRIP, DRIP, DRIP. CLOUDY, RAINY, & COOL. HIGH TODAY ABOUT 75. RAINY ALL DAY BUT WE DIDN'T GET MUCH HERE.

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido,
has cheated him out of $10,000,000.00
His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job
in the first place.
It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing so he would
not have to testify in court.

When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing
$10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language.
The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the money is!"
The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, Where's the money?
Guido signs back, "I don't know what you are talking about."
The lawyer tells the Godfather, "He says he doesn't know
what you're talking about." The Godfather pulls out a pistol,
puts it to Guido's head and says, "Ask him again or I'll kill him!"
The lawyer signs to Guido, "He'll kill you if you don't tell him."
Guido trembles and signs, "OK! You win! The money is in a brown
briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno's house.

The Godfather asks the lawyer,
"What did he say?"
The lawyer replies,
"He says you don't have the balls to pull the trigger."

You should be able to get an inside though you'll have to pay for two. Call a travel agent and see what they can do for you. OnlineVacationCenter is who I use.

Call the phone number and speak with someone there. Cabins are based on double occupancy though.

When it rains it pours. Mom has been in the hospital for two days but should be going home tomorrow. Older sis blew up like a balloon during dialysis and is in intensive care. My niece was just down here recently with the kids. Her toddler just pulled a dresser with a TV over on top of herself. She's being rushed to the hospital as I write this. The odd thing is my niece works in childcare. Seems she would be familiar about securing things around the house. Doesn't matter now. I hope for the best for all of them. This is some serious stuff. My sis in intensive care is the one that's been knocking on Heavens door for a few years now and has miraculously escaped the reaper several times.

I did find on there a section for 'single cruisers' .. they have some - then I got excited.. then again, none of them leave out of New Orleans... shit - Might end up having to get a plane ticket to Miami and do that but I hate to - that gets confusing ..
met with an elder care lawyer this morning then again this evening at the nursing home. Most of her money is gone, wished I'd known about this stuff 100k ago... now down to 45 k but his 'half loaf' plan will put back 21k for her but has to be in my name, we keep the house, he gets 5k for his trouble, we buy an annuity for the other 10k, 2k gets into a checkign account and she gets medicaid qualified NOW and it rolls into effect dec 1 when the fund deplete - then that 21k and her house is HERS and they can't touch it. I'm happy about that. Would been nice to have learned about this a long time ago. Shitty part on Medicaid if you're in a nursing home, here you only get to keep $40 a month of any of your income - thanks to our government for that - no wonder nursing home people are always dressed crappy and stuff - they have no money to get clothes and things they need... WEll, with this set up she'll have $20k in the bank hid out in my name and if she sees a pink pony she wants all she has to do is call me... better yet, I can secretly set her up with 'signature privileges' (not account ownership or beneficiary) and she can take care of her own money and give her a checkbook and a debit card. Done.
I think we all feel better.
Incense is burning in the house and a bottle of wine is open to calm my nerves. This shit upsets and unnnervs and stresses me - elder care is nuts and over 2 years I've learned more about it that I'd ever care to. If I ever get any money it's going in the back yard in a jar.

I was wasted today.

I've been working on the car for 15 straight days without a break.

I got the small stuff sanded, headlight buckets, cowl vents, etc. and the door jams with 400.

Went home at 1:00 and crashed for 3 hours.

AFTER the 400, every thing has to be done again with 600 wet.

The small stuff is a PIA, blocking the body is fairly easy.

I'll have at it again tomorrow.

Right now I'm drinkin' PBR's

Had my share of Busch N/A's today after working in the yard for awhile. Well the report is in on the toddler. Bumps and bruises but no breaks. Lucky little girl. Toppling dressers and televisions kill kids every year.

Evening guys, we all went out to eat tonight, about 35 men, women and children....it was a zoo. The place was nice, just having that many kids in a small area for the time it took to get everyone's orders taken and then prepared and then served......it was a zoo.

We go to the funeral home in the morning for family viewing, then the wake service tomorrow evening.
