Good Morning CGs!

Went to dinner last night with the whole family to celebrate for wifey's bday (8 people). Tried a place we've never been to, an old Italian restaurant the next town over. Food always gets very good reviews online. When we got there we should have left. The restaurant had a retro feel because it was stuck in the 80s. And not on purpose to be trendy, because they never updated since the 80s. Kind of got the stink eye from the waitresses because we had two children. All the waitresses were in their 50s. Sat down, no kids menu at all. Waitress came over and she was pompous and uninterested. All the locals started shuffling in (most in their 50s-60s) and the waitresses were friendly as could be with the regulars. The kids behaved very well for kids, but of course they were louder than everyone else inside. Ordered appetizers that were good. Ordered food and everyone seemed to like it. I tried to order steak, they were out. I ordered veal marsala instead (a fallback for me) and when it came out I couldn't eat it. The sauce was bitter and sour and in no way what it should have been. I used to work at an Italian restaurant, I know what it should be. The waitress never came over one time to check on us. The bus boy actually asked me if I wanted it boxed up and I told him no, it's terrible. He took it back to the kitchen and told the cook. The waitress didn't care. She took it off the bill, but could have cared less. Overall the bill was expensive, the service was poor, and the food was mediocre. The bus boy was the hardest working person there (he took care of our table more than the waitress) and I tipped him $5 at the end of the night. Guess we won't be going back.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

GOOD MORNING
Woke to grey/gray skies and showers in the forecast. Sue wanted me to join her at the show today but I had some chores here that I had planned. I just didn't plan for rain. Looks like I'll be catching up on bills and paperwork instead. If it's raining later I may be forced to watch football instead of wielding a pick and shovel. Oh me, oh my.

BTW, I got the car all tucked away yesterday at my mom's new place. They won't be using the garage...so I will. Sucks because my amp quit working yesterday (after I disconnected the battery) and I don't know why. Did some troubleshooting but haven't figured it out yet. I have several winter projects I want to do, but it will be more difficult having the car there.

I should put my cars in storage for the winter too. Of course that would only multiply what's wrong now. These things just don't like to sit.

Today's plans all for cooking a nice beef roast so I have something to take to work for lunch all week, baking 2 loaves of pumpkin bread, and cleaning the living room while the NAPCAR race is on. After that, who knows.

Hidey-ho! I may just need that Track-N-Go gizmo - we may get up to a foot of snow starting tonight, and highs in the 20's for much of the next week, so it won't be going anywhere. Think I'll run to the office today and bring my work laptop home in case it ("it" being weather/traffic) is ugly in the morning. Commuting is such a treat during the first snowfall of the year.

Sorry about the birthday dinner, Matt (and happy belated birthday to your Mrs.). Looks can be deceiving - one of the best restaurants in Minneapolis didn't update their decor for about 40 years, and a lot of the waitresses had been there almost that long. But the food was to die for, and the service was always terrific. Too bad that wasn't the case for your outing.

Hunker down, Gurus!

Morning guys (still is here anyway)....I've been at it for a while already. Working on computers for a local business while no one was around (I get a lot more done that way). Now I'm at school working on some things (working on these big cabinets ). It's a pretty day out there, maybe I should take 007 out for a drive. Cold is supposed to hit late tomorrow, early Tuesday.

Busy weekend here - today too - the Vette has been cleaned inside and out, the truck inside - front and back yard raked, five piles of leaves and pine needles burning, leaf blower used on the side of the house, front porch and deck and patio out back - Ilove that thing. Umbrella and pool pump are stored and ghetto pool is draining some. Other stuff I'll put up next weekend. Laundry going, dishes done. Still have stuff to do but I"m tired. Speaking of putting up things - I'm guessing I'm the only one that does NOT put up my Vette for winter? I can see where some people might - those that have snow a lot and/or there is salt standing in the roads constantly that can damage things or it rains way more than it should during the winter. But - on another forum I was seeing where a member who lives in a climate similar to mine, well actually warmer - was putting his up for the winter. I don't think they even get snow where he lives. So the, WHY put it up for a winter?
I'm not afraid to drive mine just because it's cold outside. Hell it runs better then. It's not any different than any other car???
Am I nuts?

Naa...that's what I do also Letty...I try to drive the car year round if the roads are clear. I have to keep in mind the tires will not stick as well in the colder weather so some caution is called for. There may not be many days to take it out but I do every chance I get.....I do have seat heat you know.....that's like the best thing ever...

I will be putting mine away for a while. I don't really want to but I do get enough snow to warrant it. However it won't be for all that long, I will be getting it out the week of St. Patrick's day so I can drive it to Sebring. As long as the roads are clear I don't see any problem. If I was a bit further south you can bet I would keep it out year round.

What Marcus said. I wish I could drive it year round.

Mine is sleeping in my mom's garage now. Went there to check the stereo again. Looks like my amp took a crap. Oh well. It was a cheap used amp and lasted 6 years and was free to begin with. No complaints other than it should have lasted longer....lol. Waiting to see if a friend has another used one laying around or if I have to buy one.

ASIDE FROM BEING AN UNRIVALED PUN GENERATOR, THIS SPOTLIGHTS TWO LESSONS TO BE HEEDED:
1. DON'T TAKE A SWORD TO A GUNFIGHT
2. IT'S PRETTY DAMN HARD TO JUSTIFY SHOOTING SOMEONE IN THE BACK.

BIG SHOW OVER, BEST WE HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME. SAM'S SLOT MACHINE EVEN SOLD. PEOPLE WERE SPENDING A LITTLE MONEY AGAIN, A GOOD ECONOMIC SIGN, I'D SAY.

ONE OF THE VENDORS HAD A FANTASTIC SAMURAI SWORD FROM THE TENTH CENTURY, AN UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL BLADE. I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT BUT $120K IS A LITTLE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE :-(

I'M WITH LETTY, I DRIVE MY 'VETTES YEAR ROUND WHEN THE WEATHER IS PRETTY.

OU GOT THEIR HEAD HANDED THEM ON A PLATTER THIS WEEK; LAST WEEK OSU GOT POUNDED INTO THE GROUND. TO PARAPHRASE ADMIRAL BEATY, "THERE SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH OUR BLOODY FOOTBALL TEAMS THIS YEAR."

Oh.... I just thought my chores were done... I already had a shower and fed and then an old classmate messaged me bragging about all the deer they killed today and needed rid of one. I volunteered to take it not thinking he was serious. Asked if I'd take it on the hoof - well, mmmkay... so, at 9pm I was out in the back yard with spotlights skinning and cutting up a buck. Funny too, the black man next door got some company and there was some strange looks coming my way. I now have an entire cooler full of filleted deer to figure out what to do with. Too bad this didn't happen two days from now when the temps will be 29 and then I'd not be in such a hurry.. it will be 70 tomorrow and it's not all that cold outside right now or I'd set the cooler outside.

There is nothing like woman that knows how to clean a buck or a string of fish. That's what makes you one in a million Letty. You have your own tools too.
