NOW THAT I HAVE CONFIRMED MY INSANITY BY BUYING A THIRD C4, ARE THEIR ANY PECULIARITIES I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT 1995'S, CONVERTIBLES, OR 6 SPEEDS?

The LT1 leaks oil no matter what you do. The optispark is fine, don't listen to the people that try to tell you every slight engine issue is because of it. Just don't get it wet...

Convertibles are a waste, you've lost your chassis structural integrity.

The ZF6 is bulletproof and every part of your car will fail before it does.

If the CAGS hasn't been disabled, you'll likely want to do that - it can either be programmed out by someone who has LT1Edit or similar software, or else you can buy a plug-and-play resistor pretty cheaply to bypass it.

Check to make sure the intake manifold bolts are torqued properly. On my '96, the bolts on the ends were not, which contributed to oil leaks.

keep the valve covers tight and do the intake properly, the leaks are cut by 90%.

The later blue tag ZF6's are ok, but not nearly as stout as the earlier black tag ZF6's.

The Verts are not as sloppy as implied. They added a shit load of structural metal to the back, and an x-brace underneath. I would still prefer the coupe, better storage and even stronger with an added x-brace.

The newer the C4, the better the build. It's that simple. They refined the car and improved it dramatically over the last few years. Quieter, more durable, just a better car.

I had 238,000 miles on my 95 when I sold it and the new owner has it over 250,000 miles. Only oil leak I ever had was the intake gasket at the rear. Drive it and enjoy it!

I suggest you fix what breaks, maintain what needs maintenance and drive it. It's an automobile.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS.

THE CAGS IS EVIDENTLY KAPUT, NO PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING, OTHER THAN THAT SPRING LOADED STICK KEEPS FAKING ME INTO THE WRONG GEAR. I ALSO FIND MY COORDINATION HAS GONE TO HELL.

I'LL TRY TO TAKE THE PICS.

have to agree here -
I will still to this day say my '96 was the tightest car around, handling and otherwise. didn't even blow a head gasket till 248,000 miles. did leak oil though, synthetic - just does it - mobil one only
Sold the '87 with almost 190k on it
take care of it - will last you a while.

95 is the first year for the pin drive Second Generation vented Optispark. That is a good thing.

The ZF6 spd is a great tranny. Totally bullet proof.

Keep a check on the hyd system (slave and master) for the clutch. The only potnetial failure prone weak part of the entire car... and not that big of a deal.

Congrats... The later C4s are great cars for the money these days.

WELL, AS PREDICTED GOT A SMALL OIL LEAK AT BACK OF INTAKE MANIFOLD. THAT'S PROBABLY AN APRIL EXPENDITURE, FEB AND MARCH BEING FULL OF BIRTHDAYS AND WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES.

THE HANDLING IS BETTER THAN THE '96 WAS WHEN I GOT IT, IT HAS NEW SHOCKS WHICH MAY HELP, AS I READ THAT THE SPRINGS ARE = THE 96. MAY PUT THE GS BARS & BILSTEINS ON AS I DID ON THE YELLOW CAR, THAT PUT IT RIGHT IN THE GOLDILOCKS SUSPENSION STATUS. GONNA DRIVE IT A WHILE AND SEE WHAT I SHALL SEE---
