Good morning gang.

Not much going on in these parts of the woods. Happy belated birthday to Rosie Tee.

Should be nice today. No rain or snow forecasted and temps should be in the mid 20's.

On with today.

Word of the day is peacock.

Today is NATIONAL BAGEL DAY

National Bagel Day (formerly Bagel and Lox Day) is observed annually on February 9th. A list of FREE or DISCOUNTED bagels to celebrate National Bagel Day can be found by clicking here.

Bagels are one of the few breads that are boiled then baked, which creates the soft inside while keeping a crisp outside. Bagels originated in Poland in the early 17th century and now sell over a billion dollars worth each year in the United States.

Over the years, many flavors and varieties of bagels have sprung up across the USA. Cream cheese is a favorite topping on bagels.

NATIONAL BAGEL DAY HISTORY

Our research for National Bagel Day, an “unofficial holiday, has failed to find the creator or the origin of this day.

NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR COMPUTER DAY

Celebrated on the second Monday in February, National Clean Out Your Computer Day is a day to take some time out of your busy schedule to do needed care on your computers.

Take a look at your files and programs on your computers:

Organize your files and folder.

Delete junk files.

Delete duplicate files.

Delete old files and programs not being used.

Over time, files and programs that are unused on your computer clog the memory and cause confusion during retrieval and use of other files. They may also slow down your computer. The second Monday in February, Clean Out Your Computer Day, is the day to spend time with your computer!

NATIONAL CLEAN OUT YOUR COMPUTER DAY HISTORY

This “unofficial” National holiday was originally sponsored by the Institute for Business Technology in the year 2000.
NATIONAL TOOTHACHE DAY

OUCH! It is National Toothache Day! This day is always celebrated on February 9th in the United States. How would one celebrate a toothache? That is a question that we do not have an answer for. So maybe instead, it might be a good opportunity to study up on ways to prevent toothaches and then share your new knowledge with others.

Our research failed to find much information about National Toothache Day. Some sources think that this holiday coincides with the day the Hershey Corporation was founded which was February 9, 1894. Other sources believe that it is linked to the celebration of the Feast of St. Apollonia which is also on February 9th. There are certain circles of people that believe that St. Apollonia is the Patroness of Toothaches.

If you do have a toothache, we think it is a good idea to call your dentist!

From Wikipedia: “A toothache, also known as odontalgia or, less frequently, as odontalgy, is an aching pain in or around a tooth. In most cases toothaches are caused by problems in the tooth or jaw, Some causes of toothache are the more obvious culprits such as a cracked tooth, filling or veneer, dental caries from eating acidic, sweet foods that corrode the fillings and the tooth’s protective enamel layer. This corrosion is caused from the bacteria that are present on the teeth which break down the sugars in refined foods and then excrete them in the form of acids, which then eat away at the protective enamel of the tooth, causing a cavity, infection and eventually toothache. The severity of a toothache can range from a mild discomfort to excruciating pain, which can be experienced either chronically or sporadically. This pain can often be aggravated somewhat by chewing or by hot or cold temperature. An oral examination complete with X-rays can help discover the cause. Severe pain may be considered a dental emergency.”

NATIONAL TOOTHACHE DAY HISTORY

Our research failed to find any information of the origin or creator of this “unofficial” National holiday.

Good Morning CGs!

Had an enjoyable weekend as far as weather goes. Upper 30s and lower 40s. Got rid of some of the snow, let me break up and clear out some of the ice at the bottom of the driveway and around the mailbox.

I spent most of the weekend indoors working on the basement. That project is 98% done. Still have to move a few things around and secure the new shelf to the wall. I also have to finish a second side project which was repairing some drywall in the basement bathroom. Now the wife says she wants to tile the walls in the 1st floor bathroom. Always something.

Hope everyone has a great day!

This is why real men have lists. Tell her you'll put it on the list, then get to it in the order of YOUR priorities. Marriage is a game that you have to learn to play by the rules grasshopper. Never tell her no. Whatever you want dear. It's on the list.

Shayamu!

Six more days and we'll be communing with the peacocks - there are several of them that roam the resort grounds. And some iguanas, too. Mostly I'm looking forward to the beach waiter. Dos cervezas, por favor! Meanwhile, the grindstone calleth.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Morning guys....dropped off the new tires for the Corvette this morning on the way to school. Will take the Corvette in after school to have them put on. Will try to have an alignment done Friday.

It's a short week, except for the long day Thursday. P-T conferences through 8pm and an early morning meeting means we'll be at school 13 hours that day. But they do give us Friday off, so that works ok. We have two ball games this week, one with a former arch-rival (they left the league a few years back), and Friday we have to travel 100 miles for the game.

The grass and plants are currently getting a natural watering. I have to go take care of a few things uptown, one of them being a shingles vaccination. From what I've heard and read shingles is not a comfortable ordeal to encounter so I figured I'd hedge my bet. Not sure if I should go for the pneumonia vaccine next month. What say the educated gurus on that? I took a pass on the flu vaccine.

I'm about 5 years overdue for my pneumonia shot. Last time I had pneumonia, it almost did me in. I have also been thinking about getting the shingles shot. I had chicken pox at 31 - it was just delightful. Anyway, I'll probably get both when I get a round tuit. Probably way overdue for a tetanus shot, too.

I'M ALL IN FAVOR OF SHOTS---OH, WAIT A MINUTE, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT INOCULATIONS, AREN'T YOU?

I'VE HAD THE PNEUMONIA SHOT AND SHINGLES SHOT BOTH, SOME YEARS BACK. NO BIGGIE, BUT I'D RATHER GET THE SHOT THAN THE DISEASE. I GET THE FLU SHOT EVERY YEAR, NEED IT OR NOT :-)

OFF TO A SLOW START. EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE MORNINGS WHEN TYING YOUR SHOES BECOMES A MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT?

So I was on my way to get my vaccination and my wife calls me to tell me of our friend, Tina. She got the shot 6 weeks ago and has been broken out in hives ever since. Great. Now I want to talk to my allergist before I take the plunge.

So I was on my way to get my vaccination and my wife calls me to tell me of our friend, Tina. She got the shot 6 weeks ago and has been broken out in hives ever since. Great. Now I want to talk to my allergist before I take the plunge.
