Good morning gang.

Cold here this morning. Should be nice today wit temps in the mid 20's again.

Get through the snow mojo to those in New England.

On with today.

Word of the day is commensal.

Today is NATIONAL UMBRELLA DAY

National Umbrella Day is celebrated across the nation each year on February 10th.

On this day, we honor one of the world’s most convenient inventions, the umbrella! Not only does the umbrella help keep us dry from the rain, it also protects us from the heat of the sun. Umbrellas can also be used as a fashion accessory.

Umbrellas have been featured in many motion pictures, most notably:

* Singin” in the Rain – 1952 * Mary Poppins – 1964

Interesting Umbrella TidBits:

The word umbrella comes from the Latin word umbra, meaning shade or shadow. Brolly is a slang word for umbrella, used often in Britain, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Bumbershoot is a fanciful Americanism, for umbrella, from the late 19th century.

The basic umbrella was invented over four thousand years ago. There is evidence of umbrellas in the ancient art and artifacts of Egypt Assyria, Greece, and China.

It was the Chinese that first waterproofed umbrellas for use in the rain. They waxed and lacquered their paper parasols in order to use them for rain.

The first of all umbrella shops was called “James Smith and Sons”. The shop opened in 1830, and is still located at 53 New Oxford Street in London England.

In 1928, Hans Haupt’s pocket umbrellas appeared. In 1969, Bradford E. Phillips, the owner of Totes Incorporated of Loveland, Ohio obtained a patent for the first “working folding umbrella”.

Umbrellas have also been fashioned into hats as early as 1880 and as recently as 1987.

Umbrellas are used in photography: Umbrellas with a reflective inside are used by photographers as a diffusion device when employing artificial lighting and as a glare shield and shade, most often in portrait situations.

NATIONAL UMBRELLA DAY HISTORY

Our research failed to find the origin or the creator of this “unofficial” National holiday.

NATIONAL CREAM CHEESE BROWNIE DAY

On February 10th we celebrate National Cream Cheese Brownie Day. It is a day for all to celebrate one of America’s favorite bar cookie, the brownie, with cream cheese swirled into the top of it or within it.

The brownie has been around since the 1800′s, but was first documented in 1906 in The Boston Cooking School Cook Book. There are hundreds of cream cheese brownie recipes. We are sure that you will find one that you like.

Maybe you would like to bake a pan of these delicious brownies and share them with your family and friends!

NATIONAL CREAM CHEESE BROWNIE DAY HISTORY Our research failed to find the origin or the creator of this “unofficial” National holiday.

Morning guys...Not bad temp-wise this morning, 32, and headed for mid 60's. Got tires put on yesterday, so today I take it over to the "city" to have the alignment checked. Also have a big game at a town between us and the "city", so will stop there on the way home.

+1 on the winter storm mojo for the NE.

Just drill some holes through the floor board and run some 5 or 6 inch long bolts through there.....

Yea, haven't touched it.

On the last nice weather days, I cleaned out my FeatherLite race trailer to get ready to sell it.
I can't believe the amount of stuff I had in the trailer, and I'm still looking for places to store it.

And I've been working on my old race car, have it complete except for an engine. Prepped the block last week and checked the new, $899.00 crank for runout, less than .0001 so, that's ready. Waiting on parts (connecting rods) then, I'll do a full blueprint.

Plus the Formula Atlantic owner will be in town next week and we have to prep that car.

Selling the trailer won't be easy, niche market because it's a cargo trailer set up for open wheel cars. I have $10k invested in it, be lucky to get half of that.

But, all the $$$ from it will go into the 67.

SUNNY AND COOL IN THE NATIONS THIS MORNING, UP TO 60 TODAY THEY SAY. NO FLIES ON THAT.

DID MAKE IT TO THE RANGE, BUT THE WIND GOT UP AT 9 O:CLOCK AND GUSTY, SO FORGET ABOUT ZEROING. DID GET THE WIN-100 BORESIGHTED AND FUNCTION FIRED. FIRST TRIED IT WITH SOME PORTUGUESE MILITARY ROUNDS I HAD AND IT WOULD NOT EXTRACT. THEN TRIED SOME HOME MADE SHELLS IN NATIONAL MATCH CASES AND IT RAN FLAWLESSLY. I'M WONDERING WHAT THE DIFFERENCE WAS. MAYBE RIM SIZE?

THEN TO CAP THE DAY I PUT THE TOP BACK UP ON THE NEW TOY AND MANAGED TO BREAK THE CABLE THAT RELEASES THE REAR EDGE OF THE TOP.

TODAY WILL BE BETTER :-)

I actually saw a bracket that mounted to the front two bolts of the seat. Remove two nuts slip the bracket down and replace the nuts. Seemed like a reasonable place.

Ya....I saw that Tom and after holding it down in front of the seat I thought it would be a hassle to climb over...I think a smaller extinguisher might fit there.

I ended up attaching it with some screws and washers through the big rubber mat I have in the back.. which is in need of a good cleaning. That will hold it in place and is still able to be grabbed in a hurry....and no drilling into the car.....

Ahhh geez its the safety Nazis on the loose again.....I think it will withstand 1g in a turn.....or how about I pile a bunch of stuff and junk on it to hold it down...

Ok.....I will keep looking.......nuts.... I am open to suggestions.....the seat bracket thing is hard bolted but you can't move the seat forward....which on the passenger side is no big but it makes cleaning and vacuuming a hassle.....

If you came thru my tech line, I'd make you take it out before you could go on the track and yes, we do check extinguisher mounting.

IF the carpet there can be pulled up, I'd put in 4 screw retainers, making sure you aren't drilling thru something important. Then poke very small holes in the carpet with an ice pick for the screws. 4, #10 screws will hold the weight of the extinguisher. Aside from the brackets flattening the carpet a bit those small holes would be almost invisible when the brackets are removed.

BTW, if you're going to drill a fiberglass floorpan, use a stepped drill bit not a regular twist drill bit,

I don't know about the C6, but the C5 gas tank is snugged up right against the floor behind the seats. Any drilling in that area on a C5 can lead to major problems very quickly.

Guru sight is slowing down again.
Went fishing today. Somehow we ended up with 2 fish 1/2" inch short. The game warden was not amused. I took the hit. She gave me a warning. Actually one of the fish was mine. It was deep jig hooked and it's survival was unlikely. Should have just tossed it over the side and let nature take it's course. No monetary fine though so that's good. I just had my perfect record dinged. Nada, nothing, zip in over 36 years of fishing. Now I have a record.

Evening guys....got the Corvette all lined up. Wasn't out much but they out it dead on.

Went over to the ball game, girls built a lead then lost it and then got it back and finally put them away. The boys on the other hand...well we found out why they are ranked #1 in the state. It wasn't a good night for us. I'll leave it at that.

Early morning meeting, so better hit the sack.
