Good morning gang.

Not much happening here. Should be sunny with temps in the low 50's.

Hope you all have your brackets filled out for those that play and good luck.

Word of the day is amain.

Today is NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CARAMEL DAY

National Chocolate Caramel Day is celebrated annually on March 19th. This definitely puts a smile on most people’s face and immediately makes one hungry for some chocolate caramel candy, cake, cheesecake, ice cream, pudding, or any of the other delicious treats made with this great combination.

Milton Hershey actually began his career at a caramel company in the late 1800′s. Mr. Hershey was at the 1893 World’s Colombian Exposition and became fascinated with the exhibit of the machinery to make German chocolate. He then bought the equipment for his company. Therefore, the popular caramel chocolate combination has been around for many years.

Following is a link for a great popcorn snack to help with the celebration:

http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs ... ramel-popcorn144488.shtml

ENJOY!

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CARAMEL DAY HISTORY

Our research was unable to find the origin and creator of National Chocolate Caramel Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

LET’S LAUGH DAY

Celebrated annually around the world, March 19th is Let’s Laugh Day.

We have all heard the saying, “Laughter is the best medicine”. So this is the day to take your medicine.

Some studies have shown that laughter may boost your immune system, relieve tension and help you relax. Who does not need any of those things in our busy and hectic world?

So March 19th, let us all laugh all day!

Elsa Maxwell: Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can.

William James: We don’t laugh because we’re happy — we’re happy because we laugh.

NATIONAL POULTRY DAY

Eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, an open faced turkey avocado sandwich for lunch and then perhaps a good, ol’ fashioned fried chicken dinner to finish off the day as March 19th celebrates National Poultry Day.

Poultry refers to domestic birds that are raised for meat and eggs This includes chicken, turkey, ducks, geese, quail and pheasant. Poultry are farmed in great numbers with chickens being the most numerous.

It is believed that chicken was introduced to American soil by the European explorers in the 16th century. Chicken consumption in the United States increased during World War II due to a shortage of beef and pork.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversees the poultry production in the United States. Estimates place production at around 9 billion chickens in the United States. Chicken and turkey are lower in fats and cholesterol than other meats.

Poultry can be cooked in many different ways including roasting, baking, frying, grilling, sauteing steaming and broasting.

Enjoy your favorite poultry dish, either at home or at your favorite restaurant. Feel free to try one of the following, “tried and true” recipes:

NATIONAL POULTRY DAY HISTORY

After much research, the origin and creator of National Poultry Day, an “unofficial” national holiday was unable to be found.

NATIONAL CERTIFIED NURSES DAY

National Certified Nurses Day is observed every March 19th. Everyday lives are affected because of the care of certified nurses. They are very dedicated to helping others and often work long and hard hours. National Certified Nurses Day is a day to honor and recognize them and their important achievement of nursing specialty.

NATIONAL CERTIFIED NURSES DAY HISTORY

March 19th was proposed as Certified Nurses Day by the American Nurses Credentialing Center to honor the birthday of the late Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles. She was a pioneer in nursing certification.

Morning guys....Cool this morning, but they say we are going to get some moisture today. Actually looks like that might happen. Just did that chicken dance at the wedding Saturday. Of course it helps out a LOT of people if they have a drink or two in them. Not sure when Marcus leaves for Sebring today, I hope he has a good trip.

Howdy! Today marks the passing of another lap around the sun, so I drove the Vette. How appropriate that it is also National Poultry Day - having another birthday is for the birds. Probably beats the alternative, though.

Enjoy your day, Gurus!

Do you notice that the young, hot chicks don't hit on you as much as they used to? Seems like the only people hitting on me lately are the urban outdoorsmen. (Excuse me sir, do you have some change you could spare?) The eighty y/o cougars are out there too.
