Craig Morgan Lyrics

International Harvester

I'm the son of a 3rd generation farmer
I've been married 10 years to the farmer's daughter
I'm a God fearin' hard workin' combine driver
Hoggin' up the road on my p-p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a luggin' 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Three miles of cars layin' on their horns
Fallin' on deaf ears of corn
Lined up behind me like a big parade
Of late to work road raged jerks
Shoutin' obscene words flippin' me the bird

Well you may be on a state paved road
But that blacktop runs through my payload
Excuse me for tryin' to do my job
But this year ain't been no bumper crop
If you don't like the way I'm a drivin'
Get back on the interstate
Otherwise sit tight and be nice
And quit yer honkin' at me that way

Chorus:
Cause I'm a son of a 3rd generation farmer
I've been married 10 years to a farmer's daughter
I got 2 boys in the county 4-H
I'm a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A.
Hay! That's what I make
I make a lotta hay for a little pay
But I'm proud to say
I'm a God fearin' hard workin' combine driver
Hoggin' up the road on my a p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin' 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Well I know you got your own deadlines
But cussin' me ain't savin' no time hoss
This big-wheeled wide load ain't goin' any faster
So just smile and wave and tip your hat
To the man up on the tractor

Chorus:
Cause I'm a son of a 3rd generation farmer
I've been married 10 years to a farmer's daughter
I got two boys in the county 4-H
I'm a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A.
Hay! That's what I make
I make a lot of hay for a little pay
But I'm proud to say
I'm a God fearin' hard workin' combine driver
Hoggin' up the road on my p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin' 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

I'm a God fearin' hard workin' combine driver
Hoggin' up the road on my p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin' 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

**********************************************

I'm okay with that. Go for it!

I can blame my wife, she thinks my tractor's sexy.
I couldn't go with green though. Benny

Tractors rock. I've always wanted one and a vintage one at that. Not too big, just big enough to be a real tractor. Even though I only have an acre of land, it's on a hillside and I'd find something to do with it.
Many years ago, I used to work on a lot of old Ford and IH tractors. They're so basic and completely functional, even more so than working on an original '30s car or something like that. Nothing there that doesn't have a purpose. There's just something about a tractor that's very appealing to a tinkerer.
BTW, back in the early to mid 70s when my friends and I were low-buck but hardcore drag racers, my best friend always painted his big block Mopar engines John Deere green, just to be different. It actually looked pretty good.
That's a pretty nice color, Benny. It looks as if it could have been stock on a C4 or on most anything, for that matter. Just what kind of IH color is it? Truck, tractor, some implement? And what era does it come from? IH used to make some smaller trucks that were rock solid units. I almost bought a sweet '64 3/4 ton pick-up once. 345 V8, 4-speed w/ creeper, it felt as solid as a tank. I'd buy one now if I ever ran across a decent one.

I got the paint at Tractor Supply. Its Valspar Tractor and
Implement series. Its not the Restoration series, no stores
had that in stock. I have the mirrors and the targa to do
to finish it. This was a near basket case car so I haven't
hurt the value any. I'll post more pics as it progresses.
Thanks. Benny

You know Billie Bob luvs Charlene!

Joe Diffie
They were farm kids way down in Dixie
They met in high school in the sixties
Everyone knew it was love from the start
One July in the midnight hour
He climed the water tower
Stood on the rail and painted a 10ft heart
In John Deere green

On a hot summer night
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3 foot high
And the whole town said that he should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere green

They settled down on 80 acres
Raising sweet corn,kids and tomaters
They went together like a hand and a glove
On a clear day from their front yard
If you look and know what to llok for
Off to the east you can still read his words of love
In John Deere green

On a hot summer night
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3 foot high
And the whole town said the boy should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere green

Now more then once the town has dicovered
Painting over it ain't no use
There ain't no paint in the world that'll cover it
The heart keeps showing through
In John Deere green

On a hot summer night
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3 foot high
And the whole town said that the fool should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere green

Ahh,paint it green boy
In John Deere green

On a hot summer night
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3 foot high
And the whole town said the boy should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere green

John Deere green
