Best way is to buy speedbleeders from the autoparts store or summit and install those.
Then use a turkey baster or some rags to remove all the fluid from the reservoir, then top it off with new fluid. Then you simply hook up clear tubing, run it to a bottle , and pump the brakes repeatedly, making sure to top off the master cylinder reservoir before it runs dry. Probably safest to do one corner at a time. Order doesn't matter. Pump it till the fluid comes out clean, then go a little more. It shouldn't take more than 5 pumps per corner. The brake lines don't hold much fluid. |

I just did it yesterday after installing a new bias spring. I used the speed bleeders and actually did 15 pumps per pedal. Guess I over did it, huh?

Less might be not enough, but more will always work.

Adding new fluid to contaminated fluid gets you contaminated fluid. Removing the old stuff from the reservoir first speeds up the process and ensures all the old stuff is removed. |

Another related note, always buy the small bottles of Dot4.
Small because you'll use them up quickly. Large bottles that sit on the shelf after opening absorb moisture. You really shouldn't save a half used part of a small bottle unless it's part of your emergency roadside kit or something. Dot4 because it has a higher wet boiling point than Dot3. |

Dot 4 can be used instead of and mixed with Dot 3. As mentioned above, Dot 4 is better than Dot 3. This does not carry over to Dot 5! But it does carry over to Dot 5.1 So mix Dot 3, 4, and 5.1 if needed but don't put Dot 5 into a system that has ABS or a system that once had Dot 3 or 4 in it. I think the perfect place for Dot 5 is in show/museum cars that sit for years on end without being driven because Dot 5 will not absorb water, BTW I know the FAQ says use synpower but I have always used castrol GTLMA. |

One little trick with the small plastic bottles is to squeeze all the air out before you put the cap back on. It makesw the bottle look funny on the shelf but it works. |

I know Gary just cracks open his C6Z06 and lets them gravity bleed.
Car stops fine @ 150mph |

I suck out the old fluid from the M/C with a thing I got at Tractor Supply company:
http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/w ... ______?rFlag=true&cFlag=1 Then refill it and just crack the bleeder screws and let gravity do it. The tool above is also great for sucking out trans and diff fluid as well. |

Looks like a fancy version of this. Just don't let the wife catch you using it.

More than you ever wanted to know about brake fluid here:
http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_brakefluid_1a.shtml Valvoline synpower is hard to beat for its price and availability. |
