So, my 18 year old Craftsman 3/8 drill stopped working.
Yea, I know, I but Dewalt now. Just for the hell of it, I took it apart. The brushes were toast. Unbelievable - Sears had them instock, online. Twelve bucks and it runs like new. |

Only 18 years? What junk.
Seriously tho', did it really take THAT LONG to wear it out? I toasted a SKIL once in about 18 months building an old CJ-7... |

You wouldn't get 18 years out of their new power tools.

18 years out of a new Craftsman? Not a chance... CC is right.
I have DeWalt, too. Pretty nice piece. |

Yea, note what I said about Dewalt in the first post. 18 years ago is ths last time I bought a powertool at Sears. I'm still blown away that they had the parts. |

18 years ago Dewalt was garbage and Craftsman was a better buy.
Dewalt used to be a relabeled black & decker or some other garbage. I bought a 4-pc dewalt kit and I expect to have it for a long while. |

Some of my Dewalt is going on 10 years.
The only problem I've had is the cord on the 1/4 sheet palm sander is cracking and needs replaced. It's a cheaper cord than what's on the angle grinder, etc. I wouldn't wipe my butt with a black & decker. |
