I'm embarassed to admit how much time I spent poking, prodding, pushing, pulling, squeezing, prying, listening, etc.,inside, outside,up and down trying to find the rattle from hell that seemed to eminate from the frowny face pictured. It turned out to be the pipe from the A.I.R. pump that connects to the Cat. It would vibrate against the trans. hump after the car warmed and on left hand turns and telegraph the noise to the upper dash. Figure that out! Almost drove me crazy. I was able to salvage something out of my dash and console disassembly by replacing the Bose tuner with one with a working C/D, hardwire my radar detector and add a antenna switch that I mounted in the console. All's well that ends well.

Man I hate rattles.. Was about to rip out things and all it was, was the Ebrake vibrating, a little electric tape, fixed. Glad you found it, others aren't so lucky.

That looks like way too much fun - should've replaced the heater core as long as you were in there ;-)

Salvage???

That's how you get to 'know' your vette. Disassemble, clean, photo-document, etc., ... even if nothin' is wrong.

I do that kind of stuff for FUN. EVERYbody who has a vette, or any car they wanna' keep up should do that.

Glad you found it!! I installed this (pic below) a while back when I was changing out my heater core. It's attached with a lot of 2 sided tape; however, it rattles like you wouldn't believe.
It's coming out this week.....

I hate crap like that. One of my speakers has something loose behind it I can't find, and my air vent on passenger side vibrates. Has a folded up piece of paper in there now. works.
