Good Morning CGs!

Well, if you haven't read the buzz that Andy posted, go check out this thread:

http://www.corvette-guru.com/modules/ ... php?topic_id=8389&forum=6

Other than that just a regular day around here. Weather is supposed to be around 70* today, but it's chilly right now. After work today I'm gonna stop by my buddy's house and help him patch some drywall he had to cut out to have his foundation repaired. I'm a little more knowledgeable in that area so I told him I'd give him a hand. Got in a good workout last night, so it's my free night tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

It's golf league tonight, so naturally the forecast is calling for 30mph wind and rain.

Had an hour or so to putz with the car last night, now I think all I have left to do is to pull off the engine accessory bracket, starter, balancer pulley (hope it falls off this time), fuel rail and some electrical connections before unbolting the engine. I bought a Happy Hooker from TPiS to hopefully make pulling the engine a little easier.

Morning gurus. Hey Mat where were you when I was doing mine? Well we spent money last night on items for the house. New clapboards, new screen door, and some paint. Boy those large clapboards are expensive at $44 a piece. Lets hope Tommy has a safe trip. Lets welcome the misses aboard. I am going to sign her up her today.

Good Morning Gurus!

Gotta pack for my flight. Wheels up at 2pm MTN time. Hopefully about five hours later, I'll be trickle charging a Saab.

Have a good one.

Good Morning Gurus,

I drove the Vette to work today! Finally a break in the weather and I have Corvette Club Meeting tonight after work.

I met a new CorvetteGuru for us perhaps this morning at 7-11

Since I drove the Vette to work today, when I stopped at 7-11 this morning a guy came up to me and started asking a bunch of questions about my car. Then he told me that he had just picked up an 84 Crossfire for cheap and was going to fix it up. I told him about my club and this website. I also dropped CFI-EFI's screen name as a great source for anything Crossfire related.

He is very excited to own his first Corvette. He sold an '87 IROC and bought the Vette. I hope he got a good value in the trade.

Another point about the domain name change for Corvetteguru, is that on occasion like this meeting this morning I didn't have to go into detail about the hyphen in the name. I just told him to go to corvetteguru.com, this will be a great help for sending people here when out and about.

A buddy of mine (52 years old) has a fear of dentists. He had a root canal done three months ago. He was pretty nervous, but that science must have come a long way. He was really surprised how smoothly everything went.

Hope your experience is the same!

Good morning! Yea, I can relate to the "dentist fear". I usually ask for the gas while still in the waiting room.

Looks like a few dry days around here, lots of outside work to catch up on.
Need to get to the tag office and donate a few hundred bucks to them first.

Have a good day

Good Morning...uh..Afternoon

Well, looks like the Cluster F'age from last week has found me again! Work all am to get something done (which is one of those Rush projects), only to find that someone dropped the ball and I don't have the stuff I need to initiate the testing...

Sorry, just had to vent a tad...
I've learned over the years not to take this stuff home with me, so I have to let it go somewhere!

Oh well, such is life!

Y'all have a great afternoon!

I may get that too, have Verizon DSL now

How does that work?

do you need to wire your house for cable?

or is there an adapter for the phone jacks?

If so, do they charge you for each adapter?

Yes you will need to have coaxial cable run to where ever you want a TV or internet. I have not seen an adapter that you could plug into a RJ12. I would think it would be expensive to have some one run cable for you, but you could do it yourself depending on how easy your access is to where you want to put everything. The other main thing is do you have cable in your immediate area?

Everyone one on the street has cable.

Which is another reason to not be on the same modem

The house is not wired for cable, I know how to do it as I plumbed the upstairs for it, it's just a royal PITA and I was a little younger when I did the phone lines.

We already have Verizon for landline - didn't need to change anything with the phone.

For internet and tv, they use the coax that we already had installed for Time Warner. If you're not already wired, I imagine that could be PITA to take care of.

Essentially, they run a line from the main FiOS lines, which for us came from the huge power line, to the house. Then they install a FiOS box out back, and hook their connections to our existing coax lines that run under the house (there's a connection out back, too). So it made it pretty easy on the guy. The phone lines are out back, so they just give it a new source.

They provide a wireless router which you have to use, but then we just bridge our router to it a WAN outlet. Our home network of printers and such has to be reconfigured, but internet is a breeze.

They also provide a power source for the FiOS box which has 10-12 hours backup, and after that drains, it still keeps some juice so you can make emergency phone calls.

They say it can take 4-8 hours for installation. He was probably here a total of 4, but it seemed like a breeze. The guy was super nice.

Just want to drop by and say hello to everyone. I'm sorry I've been gone and missing the fun. And, don't want to depress anyone, but have had three deaths in my family which happened all in a week during April - mother, uncle and cousin. Mother from a lengthy hospital stay, uncle was sudden and so was cousin. It's all a very long story but I have missed you all, but have been very very busy with things. Hugs to all

Mmmmm. It was scrumptious!

Hey Brian, have you talked to the cable folks? Maybe they can run the coax for you? You can sometimes get them to throw in stuff. They base a lot of their marketing on number of subscribers. Call and see if they will help you out.

Well I helped my buddy at after work patching a good sized hole in the basement wall. He's pretty green when it comes to that sort of thing so I kinda taught him what to do. Was a good time. Stopped at a little restaurant by the house afterward and got a ribeye sandwich and cheese frys...yum. I can feel my arteries clogging as I sit here and type....lol.

I'm getting the itch to finish the vette up....we'll see what happens next couple days.

Vetteblondie - sorry to hear about the family issues. Welcome back and we're here any time you need us!

Sorry I am so late today. It was a fun filled day helping my grandson's 6th grade class witha project at the HomeDepot. That was an all day affair. Then when I got home I loaded up the pickup with tools and finished up the shelving install across town and when I got done with that, taking the grandson's to baseball practice. Then I had 2 computer questions/repairs for people to do and then had two different people "have to see" my new vette. This is the first I've had a chance to sit down at the computer all day long. Congrats are in order for the new mods and another "keep your head down" to red-johnny.
