[/font:1bade41f9d]The RWB has shipped out today 11/21
via USPS Priority Mail
Expect delivery in 2-3 working days
Happy Thanksgiving!
[/size:1bade41f9d] [/color:1bade41f9d]

Finally!

Price? 257.90 a pair, plus $10 shipping via USPS Priority Mail.
Just in case, here are some other prices from the web;

C4guru GP TAPERED 267.90 includes shipping
Corvette Central BALL 299.99 w/o shipping
Ecklers BALL 299.99 w/o shipping
Ecklers AC Delco BALL 575.98 w/o shipping
Rock Auto BALL 311.58 w/o shipping
Ebay TAPERED (same part) 313.76 includes shipping

The GP will be broken into blocks of 15 pairs, one pair per member for the first block. The first block will start now and end when the money is collected or the 5th of November which ever comes first. Shipment will take 2-3 weeks and I'll get'em out to you ASAP!

I expect the second block to commence after the first of the new year. Those members that listed on the original CF post have reservations to the first block. NOTE: You must be registered with C4guru and paid by November 5th. If not I will offer the reservation to the next members on the list.

OK. Why C4guru? It turns out that to run a GP at the CF you must be a Supporting Vendor. This prevents members from undercutting the other vendors pricing. Makes sense to me but we can get a much better price here and pass the savings onto the members.

Heres the list of reservations. I will update this list as each member checks in and payments are received. Please PM me or use my listed email address. I will send the payment info at that time.

Oh yeah, payments can be sent via PayPal or MO's. No checks or CC's.

I'll check in twice a day to update this info column.
If your not listed, please contact me ASAP.
ALSO Please communicate with c4guru PM or email. NOT on the CF

Sorry I'm confused, maybe you can explain. Reading the thread on CF the price per bearing seems to be about $70 each on e-bay. How did we get this "fantastic deal" for a pair as a group purchase? I've always been a little math challenged but something doesn't ad up!

Interesting question mate yes, what breed are these bearings? I generally stick to SKF of FAG for any kind of bearing i need over here.

Case, unlike most Corvette wheel bearings which are simple ball type, these are tapered roller bearings which should be much more durable. What confuses me is the link on CF to the e-bay site selling these at $70 each, my math skills aren't the best but seems like a pair should be about $140, can someone explain what I'm missing?

Edit:
Think I figured it out, looks like they sell both types of rear bearing, the ball type is $70, the tapered one lists for $140!

There are two different types of bearings from this bearing company. One is the cheaper one , ball bearing type, for $70 and the Taper bearing for this GP offer. You pay for what you get.

Case, These are NTN - NSKF bearings. The RWB as a part is assembled by this vendor. The bearings have gone the distance so far with a few CF members having good success in autocrossing.

NTN makes great bearings. Canadian firm, IIRC.

I hope to participate the next time around. I am coming due - about 75k since the last bearing replacement... but I can only do one fix at a time... and the drivetrain is first!

Then I will hit the rear suspension again (ujoints/bearings).

I need to consider doing this to bastet's car, too. But the bearings feel ok so far.

Indeed they are. "NSKF" is probably an attempt to knockoff the popular SKF name. The better question is, what isn't made in China?

NTN are also made in China and India now:
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/b ... ries/2002121402000200.htm

SKF is in China:
http://www.ebearing.com/news2003/111201.htm

The GM bearing supplier from here NDH, is out of business. Their OEM market was bought by General Bearing. And yes, GB is manufacturing bearings in China too: (paragraph 5-7)
http://www.generalbearing.com/history/index.html

So with that depressing news, I'll send my money as soon as I find what paypal address.

jack up the rear end, then grab the wheel at 6 and 12, then rock it. if it moves, the bearings are worn. otherwise, fine.

I would expect yours to be ok... lotsa miles - about 90k wear them out, but more importantly, curbings to the most damage.

From their website

Quote:
SKF has 100 manufacturing sites distributed all over the
world. With its own sales companies in 70 countries, supported by
some 15 000 distributors and dealers worldwide, its e-business
marketplace and global distribution system, SKF is always close to its
customers for the supply of both products and services.

So while they may have facilities in China, SKF also makes parts elsewhere

I may very soon be needing a RW bearing/hub for my LT4 coupe. Can anyone vouch for the quality/durability of these new assemblies? I'm intrigued by the tapered bearing design. Seems to me that's the way they should have been built all along.

What are the differences between the install procedure for these as opposed to the OEM-style bearings?

TIA.

Live well,
