Happy New Year, fellow Gurus!

Yea... lotsa changes over the last few days...

We have added nearly 100 members, watched our post count increase by 500 and our hits double over last month!!!

As part of our growth plan, we are adding sections for other generations. That will help us attract other members with other generations and give them places to hang out!

We also added a section called Military Service Issues, headed by our own Red_Johnny. The idea is that issues surrounding Corvette and general car care, along with other issues regard military service (legal, financial) can be discussed!

Thanks!

This should be popular. I know there are quite a few C4 owners who also have C3s. And for the most part they are still affordable cars that can be bought and enjoyed by most anyone.

Bogus,

Would it be possible to start a C4Guru St Jude's project? I don't if your site could generate $70K like the other forum wants to do but whatever could be generated internally to C4Guru could/would be a nice gesture for the hospital and kids. Just curious.....

I had been thinking the same thing

I do a monthly donation and have until now, involved myself heavily in fundraising "over there."

I don't really want to stop but refuse to support thier efforts just out of principle. I'll keep my monthly donation going but would like to do something elsewhere. Our Florida site just doensn't have the readership (due to it's local nature) to raise that kind of $$$. The International site is still in it's infancy and might take a while.

This site is already established and active

I'm up for it if you guys are

Andy, if you need a hand with the fundraising let me know?

Like I said, I was pretty active "over there" and have been involved with St. Judes for many years. I was planning on setting up something for a local childrens hospital here in Tampa, and may still, but if you want to continue with the St. Judes fundraiers, I'll be happy to help co-ordinate it as long as people want to be involved

I see why you did this.

But it was kinda nice having a site that was dedicated just to C4's

I'd love to start some track events for guru members...but I'm not sure how much interest there is over here for that type of thing yet. I see a lot of "I'd love to try that someday" until the time comes to send in some money :sad5:

bogus, do you have any data on member demographics, primarily where the biggest concentration of members reside? If it's heavy in one area maybe we could set something up there. If it's SoCal I'll be happy to come out and run one...

We are working on the charity options... but for the moment, we are going to take that a little slow.

I love the idea of the dedicated C4 site, but it isn't all that practical... there just isn't enough traffic to grow with...

As for "cruise in's," we are gonna have Guru Gatherings! Nothing is firmed up yet, tho...

We cna easily put up a map to show where people are from. There used to be a free one, but each member would have to input the info themsleves. I will check into this.

As far as racing..I would love to do that one day.....

i actually don't think your too far away. I used to live in MI, aroound Saginaw. It was about a 7 hour drive from where I am now.

Why not?

You won't rake in as much cash, but for practical purposes, a C4 gen site would probably share more in common with a 3rd gen F-body site than it would with a C5/C6 site.

The social groups and interests are very different and you don't see those people crossing between C4/C5 forums much at all, so I don't see any overriding need to combine the two into one site. Now the C5/C6, is pretty much the same group.

I see what you mean, but the plan isn't so much a combined site, as a consolidated site.

That would be a cool feature, I'm sure most people would add their locations. If not we can ban them

I'm in Novi, if you're familiar with SE Michigan. I went to university in Flint, so I know the tri-cities. As for track events, there are a plethora of them within a few hours of you...I provide free instruction to mods :thumbleft:

I'm all for inviting anybody with our Corvette interests, but keeping it C4 oriented. We've had a ton of new members (including me), why don't we see how it goes for a few months before making sweeping changes? The old suggestion "don't mess with success" is usually a pretty good one.

what you all don't realize, when we took over C4guru, this was our plan all along! Just because several of us were banned and this place started to bump, doesn't mean we should stop...

Seriously, the time table hasn't changed a bit.

Add in the extensive bannings going on at other forums, we are positioned to really grow quickly. And when you all see the format, you will love it! I am sure!!! It's gonna ROCK!!!

I'd kinda like to see a racing section separate from the events section (car shows, cruises,etc.). There's some guys here that do a lot of track stuff.
And, I'd rather see the drag and roadracing in the same section since I like them both.

I am also in favour of the creation of racing sections, but I vote to
have drag racing and lateral-load racing in separate sections.

There is a wide divide and I believe that in the interests of long term
member support and harmony, each group should have its own home.
