Good morning gang.

Well we made it to the end of July. 7 down 5 to go.

Looks like a nice day here with mostly sunny skies and temps in the low 80's. There could be a shower or two.

Let's get today going shall we.

Word of the Day Thursday, July 31, 2014

shtick\ shtik \, noun;

1. Slang. one's special interest, talent, etc.

2. Slang. (especially in comic acting) a routine or piece of business inserted to gain a laugh or draw attention to oneself.

Origin:

Shtick comes from the Yiddish shtik meaning "pranks." It entered English in the 1950s.

Today is

NATIONAL CHILI DOG DAY

Each year on the last Thursday of July, hot dog lovers across the United States top their hot dogs with delicious chili to celebrate National Chili Dog Day.

NATIONAL RASPBERRY CAKE DAY
National Raspberry Cake Day is jubilantly celebrated each year on July 31. Raspberry cake is a cool and refreshing dessert that is a summer time favorite around the United States.

Raspberries are the edible fruit of a multitude of plant species in the genusRubus of the rose family. The name also applies to the plants themselves.

Raspberries are woody stemmed perennials.

Raspberries are widely grown in all temperate regions of the World.

Raspberries are a very important commercial fruit crop.

At one time, raspberries were a midsummer crop, however with new technology, cultivars and transportation,
they can now be obtained year-round.

An individual raspberry weighs 0.11 – 0.18 oz.

An individual raspberry is made up of about 100 drupelets.

One raspberry bush can yield several hundred berries a year.

A raspberry has a hollow core once it is removed from the receptacle.

Raspberries are a rich source of vitamin C, manganese and dietary fiber.

Raspberries contain vitamin B1, vitamin B3, folic acid, magnesium, copper and iron.

Enjoy the following “tried and true” recipe on National Raspberry Cake Day and share it with your friends and family!

Good Morning CGs!

Got the front and back grass cut last night after work. It needed it. Good thing because the forecast is calling for rain the next three days. That is too bad for the kids because they wanted to put a tent in the backyard and go "camping" this weekend. Oh well. Maybe next weekend. I guess tonight I will finally get the rest of the fence stained.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Howdy! Every morning lately, I am noticing the daylight diminishing a bit, a sign of things to come. Other than that we had some good times there, the only thing I miss about our first house is the abundance of ever-bearing raspberry bushes. They were a mess when we moved in, but I thinned them out and staked them up, and we'd get 2 nice crops of berries every summer. Man, they were tasty! The only trick was to get out there and pick them before the birds got 'em.

Have a great day, Gurus!

Another quote to be able to post

Good morning
Had a delivery then had a pick up. Nursery work is done . Now to start the weekly house shtick, cut the grass and weed whack. But first it's an errand run. I need to pick up some sandbags to fill in some low spots in the grass where the irrigation was put in, 2 bales of woodchips for my piggies' house, some quick shopping to use up a $5 coupon, then whatever else has to be done. There's always plenty that needs to be done.

Here's an item about some people that don't have to worry about petty $#!+ anymore.

Lots of deaths in the 60's age group there... we've lost a lot of great actors as well.
Raining here today - perfect sleeping drizzle - no way I wanted to get out of my comfy bed and come sit in an office - there's no work for me today so it's looking like a slow dreary day.
A few days ago someone asked was the forum moving slowly again - yes... someone fed the hamsters a while back, and it was zipping along. Now it takes a long time to load. I do not, however have the issues that some of you others seem to have though.

Very nice here today again.....cool and clear...had my post toasty's out on the deck listening to the birds chatting it up.

Uwoman took off to see her sister for a few days...she took her sewing machine with her.....now there is a lost art...how many of the young women know how to sew these days....not many I'm thinking. You knew you were in trouble on a blind date when they told you that the girl had a great personality and she made all her own clothes...

I gotta go to work now.....check in later....enjoy the day Guru's.....

Someday you'll be able to use one of these to retrieve tools, bolts, nuts and screws you've dropped into the bowels of your Corvette:

I didn't watch Sharknado but I would. If you know what you're going to get before you watch it and like B movies, you're ok. I can see why people like it. Just like Anaconda, Lake Placid and all the other poorly scripted, totally ridiculous movies, there is an audience for almost anything. Emphasis on almost.

Can be but this will be held on with springs as a lot of vintage bodywork is.

BTW Dzus fasteners kinda suck. The ones to use instead are CamLok they are way better and only cost about $1.50 more.
