I can never make up my mind which system I like best on my car. I need two more Vettes so I can use them all. I'm currently running a custom set-up with Corsas out back. It sounds good and is very quiet inside the car at highway speeds. Certainly no complaints there. I also have a Power Effects system which I like. I love the look of it's tips, they're unique and very cool. It also has great sound and in fact I always got the most compliments about how bad-assed the car sounded when I was using it, especially at the track. It was okay on the highway too, but did have a bit of resonance around town, even with the mufflers on the quietest setting. Not unbearable or constant though.
I also have a modified stock LTx system with an X-pipe in place of the resonator. It's the quietest of course but still has a great sound, just more subdued. Lots of folks have told me it sounds really good too, and I agree.
Ahead of this I have long tubes and high flow cats. And I'm just as bad about headers. I currently have two sets, the SWs I'm using and a set of DRMs that I've used in the past. Both stainless, both top quality, both keepers. But now I want to try a set of those 4-2-1 headers.
Is there like a support group or something for folks who are addicted to exhaust modifications?

You know, my wife says that to me: "What is it with you and your exhaust?!" But she's not talking about my Corvette.

I'm on my sixth exhaust system
on the Vette. I finally found
happiness with the Magnaflow
stainless muffler. LT1's were too
quiet, elims were too loud, I hated
the original outlets, and Flowmasters
would drive you right out of the car
no matter what speed you were traveling.

Hookers anonymous, maybe? I'm not sure there are any support groups that could handle you.

Quit testing them in the garage with the doors closed. I think the fumes are getting to you.

I have Corsas on both cars and at one time muff elims on the '95(twice) and a stock system in the backyard.

Here's the run down:

1995 stock-1995 muff elims- 1995 Corsa- muff elims(new ones)-1995 Corsa(new)

1993 stock-1993 stock(off someone's '95)-1993 Corsa

I should have bought the B&B Tri Flo when I had the chance($400 slightly used).

I am runnning muffler eliminators (straight pipes in old guy talk). now what would be the interior resonance difference if I were to replace the resonator with straight pipes? or x pipe?

How is the resonance or drone inside the car with the Magnaflows? I have heard some people say they are loud. What is your configuration with the Magnaflow, just a straight catback system?

Thanks.

The Magnaflows are 10 times
quieter than the Flowmasters.
There is very little resonance.
I can now listen to the radio or
talk to a passenger. I have long
tubes going into twin hi flow
cats, (Magnaflow) then into an X
pipe, (also Magnaflow) then fabbed
tailpipes into the Magnaflow
brushed stainless mufflers.
It is not a loud exhaust but does
have a nice rumble to it.

I had the Chambered Exhaust System on my 93. Was very loud, no matter if you were sitting at idle, cruising or at WOT. Was also quite a bit of resonance inside at all times, too. Won't go that route with the 86. I do really like the sound of Corsas, I have their cat back system on my Charger. I may go with Corsas on the 86 with a pair of electric cutouts. I want people to know I am going down the track! Most Vettes I race with are very quiet. Need an intimidation factor, out there.

All I know is my stock '93 setup is boring as hell. I want something that will sound really nice, with a low bass kinda rumble. But it has to be invisible when cruising on the highway for extended periods.

Sounds like Corsa is the way to go, but damn... Very expensive. Someday!

Go back and read in the first post about my modifed stock system. Could be done very cheaply at any muffler shop by cutting out the resonator and putting an H-pipe in it's place. You'll like the sound and notice an improvement in torque. It shouldn't cost $100 and they could knock it out in a half hour. .

D'oh! I saw LTx and thought. Hmmmm.. An exhaust from a C5? Man, I must still be a little off. I blame Dayquil.

I was thinking about eliminators, but figure that will be too loud. I will talk to a friend of a friend, and look into that H-Pipe conversion.

Much obliged!

If you find a group let me know...

I'm on my fourth and likely my final setup. Headers, H pipe, corsa mufflers (no resonator). I have been through dynomax ultra flo, flowmaster and complete corsa. To be honest the best exterior sound came from the dynomax but I usually drive from inside the car so I'm sticking with corsa. They really should offer just the muffler.
