Took the stock 85,000 mile Bilsteins off this weekend and put on some KYBs. The car had seemed loose and a bit sloppy on the handling since I've had it, especially compared to my previous '90 model with the Z51(I think) handling package. Handling is not my big thing though...I like going in a straight line 1/4 mile at a time!

The original Bilsteins looked fine and compressed with same amount of pressure across all 4 shocks, so I wasn't expecting much of an improvement with the KYBs, however the KYBs took a lot more pressure to compress  Wow...the KYBs are much better. The car rides, handles, and drives so much better now.

KYBs are a nice part. I have used them before.

If you can easily compress the old shock, it's shot.

Shock replacement was one of the first things I ever did on my car, as the original Bilsteins were all either failed or failing at that time. That would put them at well over 40K miles now and they're still doing well. I'm hoping they'll hang in there until I'm ready to make the investment in QA1 coilovers.

I've been running KYB's for a couple years now. Great shock for the $'s.

I think next time around I'll be able to spend some more money and will probably go with Bilsteins. It's my understanding that they're a better handling shock without roughing up the ride too much.

I like my KYB shocks too. I have a spool in my car though, so I don't do too much corner carving with it.

I've got KYB's and they are a good shock for the money. When I first got the Vette, I purchased the cheapest part I could find, now I went the other way and "get the good stuf".

I'm running KYB for about a month now installed them as temps while my bilsteins are being rebuilt. Hell i haven't even sent the bilsteins in yet

They are comparable to my fx3 on the race setting maybe a little stiffer they well definitely rattle your fillings out on a bad road.

Am I the only one here who thinks the KYB's suck? I went back to Bilsteins and they are sooooo much better.

Define how they sucked. Poor ride, bad track times, what?

Actually, they were fine around town and in a straight line. It's on the high-speed twisties that they are not up to par. A bad floating feeling. The Bilstein sports are much superior in that aspect.
