No, it's a mid 70s Holden Monaro. The grill says Chevy, but they don't sell that brand down in Oz, at least not to the best of my knowledge.

Andy, Holdens back then did not share any components to my knowledge. As they were all hideous until recently.

Like I said it's a crappy angle, but my money is still on mid 70's Chevy II.

The trick is that Opel, Vauxhall and Holden shared many components. Remember the Carlton? It was hotrodded by Lotus in the late 80s. Had the ZF6 in it, too.

I am about as sure as I can be that the car in that picture is NOT a Chevy Nova. Nothing I am finding on the net is telling me otherwise. The rectangle headlights are the issue - Nova's had round up until the very late 1970s, and then, their grille was way too tall; it went all the way into the hood, not stopping short.

I think this is it:

Holden Torana.

This is bad ass:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Holden_LX_A9X_Rear.jpg

Also, for all the info on the Torana you will never need:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Torana

Holden used several GM corporate engines over the years... but they had their own, too. I know nothing about them...

It's certainly not a Nova or any other domestic Chevy. I'm sure that the Holden that Andy posted is what it is.
BTW, the recent Pontiac GTO that was built used a Holden platform. Of course GM has owned Holden for quite some time now.

The new G8 is also a Holden platform. Shared with Vauxhall, too.

GM has owned Holden since 1925.

Could very well be a Holden, almost looks like theres a rear door on the first pic, or at least a handle.

These are AMC Matadors.

This is one that Bobby Allison drove for Roger Penske in Nascar.

This is not an AMC Matador although it was listed under pictures of them. It is a '59 Edsel wagon (A FYI for the younger crowd) and identical to one I used to have. You can't drive an Edsel without a smile on your face.

For the most part, my research indicates that much of the Vauxhall, Opel and Holdens were Caveliers. That means they are junk.
